Orchard House Residential Care Home

My 91-year-old uncle went to Orchard House for two weeks of respite in March and is still there! He is very well looked after. The food is very good. The staff are friendly, kind and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We are very happy with my uncle's care and would recommend Orchard House without hesitation.

I have found the staff all very caring, understanding and very patient. Very good medical attention when needed. The room is always clean. My mother is always washed and bath regularly. The lady in administration is always so helpful if you have any questions. Always - the rest of the staff never found it too much trouble if you ask them for anything. The only that I think is needed is all the rooms need updating with their own toilet suite - my mother has to use a commode in her room because she can't see or hear properly to find the toilet, yes, the carer would take her if she calls them. She is 101 years old and still likes a little independence. Own toilets and a little sink would be great in all rooms. Not possible in the room my mum is in far too small.

A very stable care environment, focussed on the comfort, health and wellbeing of residents. Regular activities, tasty meals and a nice cup of tea are all great features. Always tidy, with plenty of genuinely caring staff and a real buzz about the place in the daytime. Always kept informed, Mum is happy and I have peace of mind.

After a serious fall, and time in hospital, it was no longer considered safe for her to live alone and the staff and facilities at Orchard House Residential Care Home have provided all the care she now needs in her late 80s.

My monthly visits involve a round trip of more than 200 miles - so I am particularly grateful that she is happy in a residential care facility that I have confidence in and that allows me to live without constantly worrying about my sister and her needs!

My mother has been at Orchard House Residential Care Home since August 2020. All the staff I meet while visiting seem very caring, friendly and patient and, although my mother has dementia (and therefore doesn't remember much), she often says that the staff are all very nice and she is well looked after. The home is clean and the food looks good. As much as her condition allows, my mother seems to be comfortable and happy living at Orchard House.

My wife has been there for only just over a month, but my first impressions are very favourable, particularly when compared to her previous situation. I find the caring staff very friendly and cooperative.

The home has a very nice atmosphere and always seems to cater for all needs with special events, and alike, to keep residents occupied.

I would highly recommend this care home to anyone looking for residential care.

My mother-in-law has been a resident since May 2022. She is extremely well looked after and seems very happy being there. She joins in with so many activities, but unfortunately, due to her dementia, she doesn't remember any of them afterwards. However, the most important thing for us is that she is enjoying life. The staff take very good care of her, and we have no worries at all about her being here.

The carers and staff have also been very friendly towards myself and my family and are happy to answer any questions we may have.

I have been a resident since May 2022 and have received an extremely high standard of care in every aspect. The food is very good, especially cakes and puddings. Nothing is too much trouble for the hard-working staff who are always pleasant and polite. The standard of cleanliness is very high and maintenance problems are dealt with promptly. I am very happy here and feel valued.

Very friendly staff and very clean and easy to park and the rooms are nice and clean. The staff are always there if you need them when they're on duty and I’m always informed if there a problem. I can always phone up about my friend to find how they are.

I have always felt welcome and found everyone open and helpful. It has been such a relief to know he is happy and safe. All staff do their best to make sure feels it is his home and how he would like it to be.

Mother-in-law is treated with kindness, patience and dignity appropriate to her 100-plus years. She respects the staff and speaks highly of them. This is a perfect recommendation for the home.

On visiting my husband, I find the staff to be very kind and helpful and very pleasant to talk to. My husband seems to be very happy in Orchard House.

My husband has been a resident at Orchard House for five and a half years, and during that time, has been very well cared for and treated with kindness and patience. I am very satisfied with his care.

But there we are at the end of the day it’s just another business.

Although I am satisfied with the care given to my husband, the conditions are cramped and he is unable to sit by the window in his bedroom.

Thank you all at Orchard House, we shall miss you.

My mother has been in Orchard House since the end of September this year. It has not been possible to see her room because of Covid19, so I cannot comment on the state of things inside. But I can say that the staff have all been lovely and welcoming and have left me well informed about how my mother is. They seem very patient and kind and have given her back her dignity after a long stay in hospital.
