I have lived here at Canterbury House for just over 5 years and I am so happy here. I must say that the care and support that I have received have been exceptional. The home staff are wonderful. The home is spacious and clean and it has a very friendly and caring environment.

I observed that Canterbury House has had its ups and downs over a good few months, but I must say they have pulled out all the stops to correct the situation and are still continuing to get it right. I cannot fault the care and love that is given not only to my lady but all the other residents I see and speak to by the staff. There is still a way to go, but all I can say never be afraid to make Canterbury House your home, they do care. More so than another not far from them.

Standards, in general, have slipped from excellent to very mediocre over the past few months. Frequent staff changes have precipitated this.

Management, in particular, has been very poor with appalling communication between relatives and home. Cleaning standards have become poor recently. Care staff are mainly very polite and provide a good service, with the exception of at least one rather confrontational member of staff.

I was a little nervous about arranging respite care for my mother, however, my concern was without foundation. From my initial enquiry through to my mother's stay, I found staff to be caring, kind and professional at Canterbury House. I was impressed with the cleanliness and layout of the accommodation, as well as the facilities offered and it was very clear that my mother had been well looked after during her stay. I know that my mother enjoyed the food and there were plenty of activities to get involved with and other friendly residents to chat to. I would have no hesitation in booking another stay at Canterbury House, in the full knowledge that my mother would receive the highest standards of care.

This is an excellent home. My respite stay felt more like a hotel. The service from all the staff was above my expectations. Having worked in care homes, I was pleasantly surprised by the empathy, care and kindness from everyone. I would certainly recommend Canterbury House for complete care.

My mum has been in Canterbury House since late 2018 and I cannot fault the staff and the facilities. They look after her so well, like she is family. The staff are always there on hand to help if you need anything, they dote on my mother which is lovely to see. The home itself has fantastic facilities and they always make sure that they have activities to keep the residents busy. During the dreaded covid time, the home did absolutely everything in their power to keep everyone safe and did this with great success. I couldn't personally think of a better place to have mum live.

We urgently needed respite care for my mother-in-law and within a few hours Canterbury House had found a space for her. She stayed 3 weeks and has had wonderful care from everyone. As a family, we have found that the staff are always willing to discuss whatever issues we have had.

We would all recommend the home.

My mother has settled in quickly and is happy living here. I am very happy with the level of care and the staff are genuinely conscientious, knowledgeable and helpful. She hasn't lived there long enough yet to have experienced the full range of activities but it would be great to have the swimming pool back in action. I would recommend Canterbury House Care Home to friends and family.

Canterbury House is an excellent care home. The staff are lovely and do a wonderful job. After initial resistance to the move, Mum has settled in well and has been given a new lease of life. There are a wide variety of activities for residents. I know she is safe, happy, and doing well thanks to their person-centered care. For her recent birthday, the staff really went that extra mile.

I am an 86-year-old widower with relatives and friends. They have all died. After a little research, I now realise that I have a good choice of resting places. I do have to say that I have come to expire not perspire. The kitchen, laundry and cleaning services are all A1, as are the office staff. Maybe not for everyone but don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

My brother has been in Canterbury House Care Home for three months. He appears to be happy there and is well cared for and well-fed. It is a spacious, purpose-built building. The home organises a lot of activities for residents which appear to be well attended. The staff are friendly and helpful.

The staff at Canterbury House are like leaving your loved one in the care of loving relatives. Mum was treated with affection, consideration and respect at all times. I was completely confident in leaving her. Their system is set up to include everyone if they want to join in or be able to be quiet and peaceful in their own space if this was preferable. Any extra requirements after Mum came out of the hospital were quickly and efficiently implemented and her personal comfort was paramount.

My mother is currently coming to the end of her 2 weeks respite at Canterbury House after being highly recommended. I can see why. From the moment she arrived, she was treated like family with the utmost respect and dignity. Everyone was so friendly and happy, the whole home felt warm and inviting. My mother has enjoyed all the wonderful activities and has even started knitting again. She has also informed me the food is lovely, her favourite being the delicious desserts. Her recovery after her fall at home has gone better than I ever imagined and that was down to the wonderful team who have looked after her. I'm sure Mum will return again in the near future as she has enjoyed her stay so much. Thank you Canterbury House and your wonderful team.

I can not praise Canterbury House Care Home enough, my husband has been a resident for eight months.
The whole place runs so smoothly, any small problems are soon sorted.

But best of all, my husband loves it and I think he is truly spoiled. So, therefore, why wouldn't I think it was a very special place, with special staff. Thanks, "thanks a million".

I stayed in Canterbury House Care Home for ten days after an operation. The care I had was beyond belief. The staff were and are wonderful. During my stay not one member of staff seemed to be moody or unhelpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere in Canterbury was so uplifting. I came home feeling mentally better as well as physically better.
I chose Canterbury House because my husband was in there for four and a half months. He had Parkinson’s disease and dementia. It broke my heart to have to send him. I needn’t have worried the staff were wonderful not only with him but also with me. I call Canterbury House my ‘happy place’. This was all through the darkest days of Covid. I could not fault them and will be forever grateful.

I have seen both sides of care at Canterbury House and could not fault anything.

In a care home, the most important element is the staff. We couldn't ask for kinder, caring and dedicated people to look after our mum. At no point have I come across such lovely people who really know my mum and care for her so well.

My husband arrived from hospital to Canterbury House unable to move or feed himself and I was told by the consultant he had perhaps a fortnight to live. Now six weeks later, he is eating better can talk to me and move one arm a little. This is all due to the care he has received here. They keep him immaculately clean, move him regularly and are always friendly and gentle with him. He could not be anywhere better now that I am unable to support him or obtain the same quality of care at home.

Well, it's been 18-months since Mum became a resident here, and what a tumultuous 18-months, but I have always been confident and very reassured that Mum is always cared for at every level and with great kindness and professionalism. The manager and her team are the best, and Mum is very fond of all who look after her, which is a great relief to me now as, in the beginning, it was hard for Mum to adjust to losing her independence. Throughout the pandemic, we have been kept updated on the various changes within the home through Zoom meetings, emails and helpful phone calls when needed. The atmosphere there is always one of helpful kindness, although I'm sure it has been so hard for all the staff to hold things together for so long. Well done and huge, huge thank you.
