My Mother died in June suffering from multiple issues, especially mixed dementia following a stroke in October 2015. Really she needed full-time care, my sister and I looked at a number of care homes in and around Bury. Lavender hills was our immediate choice and they proved outstanding.
Mum had a
lovely room overlooking the hills and immediately felt at home. After a period of loneliness and depression, she responded positively to the care and stimulus Lavender provided. The staff are exceptionally good and we could not have hoped for better. Mum praised the food and care. She found friends and support. Senior figures attended her funeral. I cannot praise Lavender Hills highly enough. It seems to me, a model of what care homes should provide.

Very good care home with a friendly atmosphere. I do feel that more of the Monday to Friday staff could work at weekends on a rota basis. I cannot believe that working one weekend if every four would impact on peoples lives too much. Having said that, there was absolutely no issue or problem with the
staff who were on duty apart from the odd agency worker.

Mum was a resident at Lavender Hills from March 2013 until she peacefully passed away surrounded by her close family in March 2016 aged 98 years.
Throughout the 3 years Mum lived there everyone involved with her care were sensitive to her needs and treated her at all times with dignity and respect.
Mum was an alert, strong willed and independent lady who demanded exacting standards. A tall order to provide in everyday life. However, the whole team handled all arising situations sympathetically and where necessary with the appropriate level of humour.
Overall the care and support given to Mum, particularly during her last few weeks, was exemplary.
Lavender Hills should be very proud of their dedicated team of caring professionals.
At all times everyone at Lavender Hills have provided over and above what the family expected for which we thank you all.

My mother-in-law has been a resident in Lavender Hills for over one year. The quality of care is superb. The staff are caring, considerate and professional in their work. Nothing is too much trouble, always looking to maintain and develop the environment for all. Friendly, welcoming to relatives consistently.
Recently moved my one mum into Lavender Hills knowing that her needs will be net and this fills us with confidence.

I have no complaints on care. My one complaint on one occasion was cleanliness of room. This was dealt with immediately and has not occurred since. Staff are friendly, the home bright and cheerful, staff and management very supportive.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.923) out of 10 for Lavender Hills Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 37 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.923 for Lavender Hills Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (409 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 443 Ratings = 4.923
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lavender Hills Care Home is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
