Mum arrived at Coniston House 2 weeks ago as a new resident. She has been made to feel so welcomed and part of the Coniston family. We as a family are delighted at how well she has settled. It's wonderful that we can now be family to mum again rather than being her carers.

My mother has lived at Coniston House Care Home for over 10 years. During this time her dementia has deteriorated and throughout this time I have always been impressed with the caring nature of all the staff.

Adjustments have been put in place to cater for her increasing needs. We can visit any time and are always made to feel welcome. Unfortunately my mother is unable to participate in the activities but there is always a lot going on around her.

My mother-in-law has been living in Coniston for just over a month now and has settled in very quickly. From the initial viewing, to moving in and subsequent visits, I've always found the staff to be attentive, caring and helpful and the environment to be clean, tidy and well maintained. There's plenty of interesting activities to keep her stimulated and busy. It's refreshing to say that the experience overall at Coniston has impressed me immensely, which I find difficult to say about many other things in life currently. The excellent service provided is also a great comfort for my wife, knowing that her Mum is cared for, safe and active.

Our mum, who has Alzheimer's, has been living at Coniston for 15 months now. We looked at several care homes before choosing this one and are so pleased with our choice. The staff are approachable, caring and friendly and the home is well managed. It is also very clean. The food always looks and smells amazing and despite many years of being a fussy eater Mum has put some weight on and looks so much healthier. She has also joined in with some of the activities, which we hadn't expected to happen. There are lots of events for residents and their families which are always joyful occasions. We can relax safe in the knowledge that Mum is being cared for with compassion and understanding.

Our Mum has been in Coniston House for a number of years now and the demands to look after her have unfortunately increased as her general health has deteriorated. However the team at Coniston have always been so supportive in looking after Mum in terms of her physical and mental well being. As issues have inevitably arisen they have proactively responded and handled medical intervention and support to Mum whilst always keeping us informed on the status until the matter has been resolved. Also I really cannot commend the motivation and work ethic of the staff highly enough and the exemplary service they continue to provide to all residents, organising regular activities and events which benefits both residents and relatives alike.

Overall Coniston and the team are fully deserving of any plaudits they receive and in my opinion more than justify a 5 star rating!

What an amazing group of kind, caring and compassionate individuals the team at Coniston House are, the home is spotless, the residents are always up, clean, and everyone works hard together to ensure they are well supported and there is always lots going on. My mum has been living here for 2 years now, and as her condition has deteriorated the team continue to actively involve her in and I know have her best interests at heart, they cannot do enough for the residents and it is lovely to see and very reassuring. Like most I was nervous when my mum first had to go into the home, but I needn't have worried the staff at Coniston House have all been amazing and I have total peace of mind that she is well looked after, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Coniston House if you are looking for a kind, caring ,compassionate and stable environment for your loved ones to live in.

I generally pleased with Coniston House and the care given to my husband. I have concerns about the number of expensive items that have been 'lost' or put in the washer. I know he can fiddle with things but it isn't hard to check bedding and clothing before it goes in the washer?. I have not been offered any recompense for the items.
Sometimes carers are on their phones instead of interacting with the patients. Why do 2 carers go at once for lunch, leaving 1 carer only in the lounge upstairs?

When a resident requests assistance I think carers should not say' I'll take him/her when I've finished this' but be given priority.

Very caring, happy and friendly environment. My dad has settled really well, all his needs are catered for with no problem. I can access management at any time if I want a chat and I am also kept informed of anything that involves my dad. I have complete trust in them looking after my precious dad or I wouldn’t have him live there.

I was given the opportunity to become the home manager in March 2023. My role at Coniston House is to assist the Home Manager and Deputy in a range of administrative functions. My role is often the first point of contact between the home and residents, families and visitors. I find it so interesting, especially seeing the positive effect the work the team does has on the people we support every day.

Jane Green
Jane GreenJob Title:Care AssistantJoined: 2011
I have worked at Coniston House for over 9 years, starting as a night carer.

I decided after a while that I would like to apply for the day carer role that had become available.

However, not long afterwards I started working in the kitchen as a cook.

I soon realised that I was missing the interaction with the residents by being in the kitchen, so I decided to return to care.

I know now that working within the social care industry is where I want to be, so I am currently undergoing training for more of a senior role. I would love to take on more responsibility and training in the skills required for medication administration.

I feel that I am a very caring individual and I am passionate about my job, caring and interacting with the residents is the favourite part of my job. I find the whole aspect of social care extremely rewarding.

I am currently completing my NVQ Level 3 in social care.
