Overall Experience

My mother entered Coniston House after 3 weeks in hospital following a fall. Although we are not allowed inside due to COVID every day we have seen an improvement in her. She definitely never wished to go into a home but now does not know whether she wishes to return home. She enjoys the food and the staff seem to give her excellent care and attention. My mother is not one who would shy away from making her feelings plain if she did not like something and she appears to be happy for the first time in a long time. Thank you Coniston House.

After looking at a couple of other homes in our area there was a warm and friendly welcome and a sense of home at Coniston House. My mother in law now resides here and she is very well cared for. She loves the staff and enjoys trips out and all the activities, proving nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff. It's so nice to know she is well cared for and safe and secure. As a family, we couldn't have asked for more.

My mother has been a resident for many years, the staff are caring and kind. The activity lead is enthusiastic at all times which can be challenging but she always continues to smile. The food offered is excellent with home-cooked cakes and biscuits regularly. Residents treated with respect and dignity.

My dad has lived at Coniston House a year this week. I have constantly welcomed the level of care he has received from everyone at this excellent, friendly care home. Attention has been paid to all his health needs and safety. He enjoys the company there. At every opportunity, he is encouraged to join in the many activities and entertainment. All my queries are promptly responded to however small. It is a very clean home and I can personally vouch that the homemade cakes are delicious.

Mum seems to be very happy at Coniston House. She is eating well and enjoying having company. She is enjoying a varied programme of activities, even if she can't remember them all. We are happy with the standard of care she is getting and the staff are friendly and helpful. On the downside, the furniture is looking past its best, but I'm told new chairs are on order. We looked at a lot of homes and Coniston House really stood out for it's friendliness and care standards.

The home is clean and spacious with good size bedrooms which are nicely decorated. Staff are friendly and helpful and seem to genuinely care for residents. The manager is always approachable and acts on any concerns raised. The activity coordinator does a wonderful job, arranging a variety of activities both in the home and taking people into the community and to functions outside of the home. My sister is settled and well cared for by people who accept her as she is and respect her dignity.

Coniston House is an attractive building, very clean and bright. The public areas are especially welcoming with a delightful garden. The peaceful atmosphere is palpable and the residents exude a contented air.
What makes this place special, however, is the care provided. I have always seen residents treated with dignity and respect but also with humour and humanity. It is obvious that the staff genuinely care. The range of activities is impressive and the trips out are greatly appreciated. We enjoy viewing the photos on facebook.

We have the upmost trust in the service provided and appreciate the quality of feedback given. Well done indeed.

Since moving my mum to Coniston House last December I have been able to relax in the knowledge that she is happy, safe and well cared for. The staff are friendly and helpful and there are always plenty of activities and outings for mum to take part in.

I could not be happier with my mum's care.

The care given is very good, in fact, excellent. In respect of support given to families, there are plenty of activities for residents to take part in and enjoy if they so wish. There is a warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff are very caring, would certainly recommend to friends and family if there were in a similar situation.

Mum was taken to Coniston House when my Dad passed as she has dementia and I could not care for her. The staff were amazing at the initial assessment. Mum quickly settled and although she is very quiet takes part in a lot of activities and outings. The staff are very caring and make sure that she has everything she needs. Thank you for taking such good care of Mum. I can rest easy at home without worrying.

Mum was admitted to Coniston House urgently from a difficult situation. From day one we were all made to feel welcome and encouraged to make ourselves drinks when visiting. Daily activities including quiz's, arts and crafts, entertainers and going out for lunch are all part of the care and Mum has thoroughly enjoyed this.

All the staff, from manager to care staff and activities coordinator, have been excellent and committed to providing the best care to each resident. We have been very pleased with the home and feel everyone tries very hard to make residents happy and well cared for.

I am impressed with the level of care my mother receives. Any medical issues are addressed immediately, even minor problems. The staff are friendly and helpful. I had great concerns about my mother coming into a care home but I really can't fault Coniston House. It is always clean, tidy, as are the residents. The food is also of a very good standard and a lot of it!

Coniston House staff were amazing in the end of life care they gave to my mother in law in April 2018. My mother in law had spent 6 years in Coniston House. She had enjoyed her time there. All her needs were met with kind and friendly caring staff. It is always hard for both staff and family in the latter stages to go through Dementia. Coniston House staff tried in all ways to meet her and care for her needs.

Hello, my name is Kirsty and I am the Home Manager of Coniston House Care Home. I started working in the care sector 15 years ago. I have only worked for two care companies and have worked my way up the care ladder, starting out as a carer, senior carer, team leader, admin and deputy manager, completing my NVQs up to a level 5. I was given the opportunity to become the home manager in March 2023. I am very passionate about leading our team, ensuring excellent quality care is provided to our residents, and also ensuring that they live in a safe and happy home.

My role at Coniston House is to assist the Home Manager and Deputy in a range of administrative functions. My role is often the first point of contact between the home and residents, families and visitors. I find it so interesting, especially seeing the positive effect the work the team does has on the people we support every day.

Jane Green
Jane GreenJob Title:Care AssistantJoined: 2011
I have worked at Coniston House for over 9 years, starting as a night carer.

I decided after a while that I would like to apply for the day carer role that had become available.

However, not long afterwards I started working in the kitchen as a cook.

I soon realised that I was missing the interaction with the residents by being in the kitchen, so I decided to return to care.

I know now that working within the social care industry is where I want to be, so I am currently undergoing training for more of a senior role. I would love to take on more responsibility and training in the skills required for medication administration.

I feel that I am a very caring individual and I am passionate about my job, caring and interacting with the residents is the favourite part of my job. I find the whole aspect of social care extremely rewarding.

I am currently completing my NVQ Level 3 in social care.
