Hello, my name is Kirsty and I am the Home Manager of Coniston House Care Home. I started working in the care sector 15 years ago. I have only worked for two care companies and have worked my way up the care ladder, starting out as a carer, senior carer, team leader, admin and deputy manager, completing my NVQs up to a level 5. I was given the opportunity to become the home manager in March 2023. I am very passionate about leading our team, ensuring excellent quality care is provided to our residents, and also ensuring that they live in a safe and happy home.
To follow.
My role at Coniston House is to assist the Home Manager and Deputy in a range of administrative functions. My role is often the first point of contact between the home and residents, families and visitors. I find it so interesting, especially seeing the positive effect the work the team does has on the people we support every day.
I have worked at Coniston House for over 9 years, starting as a night carer.
I decided after a while that I would like to apply for the day carer role that had become available.
However, not long afterwards I started working in the kitchen as a cook.
I soon realised that I was missing the interaction with the residents by being in the kitchen, so I decided to return to care.
I know now that working within the social care industry is where I want to be, so I am currently undergoing training for more of a senior role. I would love to take on more responsibility and training in the skills required for medication administration.
I feel that I am a very caring individual and I am passionate about my job, caring and interacting with the residents is the favourite part of my job. I find the whole aspect of social care extremely rewarding.
I am currently completing my NVQ Level 3 in social care.
I am a seasoned Internal Quality Assurer, Assessor, and Training Manager ,Trainer and Coach with extensive experience in the higher education sector and across the health and social care industry. My career spans over 34 years with 13 years spent in key roles in Domiciliary Care, Residential Dementia Care Homes, and Training Management. Also delivering Apprenticeships with FE colleges. I aim to demonstrate commitment to excellence in care and education. I embed the values of high-quality care into the education of the team and to ensure person centred care and compassion, caring and kindness are core values. I started in care when I was 19 and very quickly realised the value of care and I wanted to ensure that the people I supported received he best care possible. Working my way up from a care assistant, senior carer, mentor, assessor, trainer, then into management. I currently work as Training Manager for Rochcare Care Homes. I oversee the full spectrum of training across four residential dementia care homes and the domiciliary service in the North-West of England. I design and deliver induction programs, bespoke specialist training, and annual refresher courses—developing all course materials to meet evolving care standards and staff needs. I am highly skilled in both face-to-face and e-learning platforms, with expertise in elder care, medicine, and all mandatory CQC training.
