Cherry Garth is a cosy and welcoming home providing expert residential and dementia care in Holmer Green. The kind and enthusiastic care team take the time to get to know each resident and build meaningful relationships with them.

The home is split across four ‘houses’, encouraging a sense of community within each one and helping friendships naturally develop. The layout has been designed to support and enable a person living with dementia by including ‘features’ to help them navigate and enjoy the home.

There is a beautiful enclosed garden with its own potting shed and workshop for residents to enjoy at their leisure. A lively and varied activities schedule is also on offer, including a regular cookery club, which is ideal for helping residents to enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle.

My mother has been living at Cherry Garth since September. I cannot thank the management team and staff enough for the care given to Mum. All of the staff are professional, interested in each resident and very caring. My mother's health and wellbeing have improved so much since she moved into Cherry
Garth. All of the staff are so friendly and you can see the residents respond to them. Well done Cherry Garth.

In the last month of my mother's journey with dementia, she was well cared for. The staff who looked after her showed compassion and spent time with her. They treated her with dignity and did all they could to ensure she was eating/drinking. The staff on duty all knew her - some from when her journey
started. When she slipped away peacefully, I could not fault their response and care shown to her and my family.

A fantastic care home run by managers and staff that care.
I have found that my father, who has dementia, is treated with respect and in a caring and friendly manner.
The home is well kept, clean and tidy and the gardens are wonderful, which is great as my father loves walking in the gardens.

Pleasant surroundings. Clean. My mother's room is large, light and airy. Staff cannot do enough for my mother and others. Bright and friendly staff even the cleaning staff.
My mother has settled in well, she can be difficult at times but my mother needs to be encouraged and coaxed which is working.
She seems happy. Excellent and inspiring. Love it.

Attended meeting 29th October. Found very enlighting and informative and pleased to hear future plans. Together with target to achieve even higher standards. Particularly food and intention to get more interaction with guests to establish their history and encouragement to discuss their past.

Friendly atmosphere and very flexible visiting policy. Some great outings arranged, with a recent riverboat cruise and a visit to the zoo. Lots of activities seem to be happening, which is good. Most important thing is that mum gets the care and support she needs and I think this is happening, although
my only question is the staff turnover - which seems to be high as always new faces - full respect to the staff as its a really tough job - especially within the dementia area on the first floor. As long as mum is happy though (and she says/implies that she is) then I am happy.

My father has been in this home (residential care) for a couple of weeks. He is already settled in and is happy. He says the staff are excellent, very kind and supportive.


Very pleasant surroundings. His room is a good size with en-suite loo and wet room.


I have found the management team very

efficient, approachable and helpful. I am happy my father is being so well cared for.

Good points: Many of the carers are excellent, most are at least good. Middle management are generally helpful and responsive to concerns. Healthcare is very good. Cleaners are diligent and rooms are cleaned every day. Kitchen staff are responsive and helpful; particular dietary requirements are well
catered for. The laundry service is generally acceptable although clothes do go missing at times. Overall I am more than satisfied with the care provided to my wife.
Less good: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning are very poorly designed. Air con does not reach public rooms, only bedrooms; rooms are often overheated. Room temperatures are not routinely checked, even in the hottest weather. I have drawn the attention of management to this on more than one occasion but very little has been done. Senior management is too desk-bound and not in evidence around the home.
This is not the fault of the management of the home as the fees are negotiated at a higher level within the group but the local authority who fund 40% of the rooms pay less than cost price. Consequently, privately funded residents are charged a great deal more so that the home is fully funded.

We are very pleased to receive this good feedback regarding the care at Cherry Garth. We have relayed it to our care team and they are delighted to hear such positive acknowledgment. With regard to the heating and ventilation, we have addressed the comments raised – temperatures are recorded regularly, especially during extremes in weather.
Air conditioning exists in all the corridors and one of the TV lounges and new fans are currently being installed.
Senior management ‘walk the floors’ as much as possible and the home manager and her seniors ensure this happens several times a day alongside the administrative tasks that they need to complete. The issue of private fees is a national problem facing the sector today. It is widely acknowledged by independent care sector professionals, that Local Authority or other state funding is insufficient and this issue is currently being addressed by Government. The outcome is eagerly awaited by us all.

My father was admitted to Cherry Garth in late November 2017. He has settled in well and is always treated with kindness and respect by all the carers and management team.


I usually visit him two to three times a week and always find him well kept, clean and comfortable.


The staff and management

always greet you with a warm welcome and are always helpful. As care homes go, my father could not be in a better place.


It's nice to know he is in a homely environment, safe and well cared for, when I am not able to be with him.

Mum was admitted to Cherry Garth on 8th November 2017. She specifically requested a ground floor room, which Cherry Grove were able to provide.
I visit Mum twice a week and am always impressed by the appearance and cleanliness of the home.
The efficiency and kindness of the staff and the care they
provide to Mum is unfailing.
They are endlessly patient when feeding Mum and at night time, they turn her every two hours, to prevent sores.
Mum has a degree of memory loss and the staff handle this with great sensitivity.
I'm always made to feel welcome, whenever I visit.

My husband was admitted into care at Cherry Garth two years ago. He has recently died, during his time there he was given excellent care and treated with respect by all the carers. He was able to listen to music of his choice in the communal sitting room. Until very recently when his dementia became
worse he took part in various activities and I was able to visit him often whenever I chose.
