At Highcroft Hall the team, several of whom have been with the home for around 10 years, are devoted to enriching the lives of their residents. They support them to have an active role to play in how their home is run, giving them a true sense of belonging and purpose.

Providing residential and dementia care, they also offer respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance. These are ideal for family carers who would like to plan a short break themselves.

There are beautiful spaces to relax in. The garden room is a tranquil area to enjoy and there is a cinema room, complete with a popcorn machine for movie afternoons.

There is a vintage café and a hair and beauty room, with a mobile hairdresser visiting every week, as well as welcoming lounges. And the bedrooms are all beautifully decorated, with ensuite walk-in wet rooms.

The residents enjoy wonderful activities, from pamper sessions and pub lunches to the gardening club. This summer they have loved growing their own produce, with everything from tomatoes and radishes to cucumbers and lettuces, proudly harvesting it for the chef to use in the kitchen. Seeing how popular the gardening has been, the home’s maintenance operative has built more raised planters which can be used by the residents in wheelchairs, ready for this year.

And talking of food, the home’s chef of over 10 years prepares delicious home-cooked meals for the residents. His specialities are his freshly made cakes and pastries, especially chocolate eclairs and scones, which the residents enjoy for afternoon tea.

The team are passionate about keeping those community connections alive. Students from the local high school come in every week to spend time with the residents, and every month the local church run a service in the home.

And there are regular trips to see their fellow residents at Sanctuary Care’s nearby care home, to enjoy activities and friendship.

My mom moved into this care home in march 2021. She has Alzheimer’s so was unsafe to be at home. We were very apprehensive has she never settled into her respite place. We have found that she has settled in really well at Highcroft and seems very happy with her environment.
Staff are very friendly
and have been helpful in managing her condition and needs. There are activities which they try and involve her with which helps to stimulate her has she has always been very active. Lovely friendly environment.

My mother has been a resident within the care for for three years now and I cannot praise the staff enough in their care and support of her. I have found that the staff that work within the home are caring and patient, and they are respectful of the residents and their families alike. We are regularly
kept informed of any changes in treatments, such as medication that occur due to changes in her condition. This is also true if any medical professionals visit her, such as doctors and nurses. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the staff treat my mother with a sense of dignity. Her wishes are observed and she is treated as an adult. The staff did an amazing job during the pandemic to keep the residents safe whilst still trying to facilitate visits. The group they have set up has been invaluable in keeping us informed about changes to regulations around Covid and visits.

I have been very impressed by the care my Mother has received as a resident of over two years. The staff are unfailingly caring and friendly. They have provided a range of events/activities such as craft sessions, music "concerts", parties etc. Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home is always a clean
and pleasant environment. Mom is receiving excellent care.

My mom had been at the care home for 4 years now. During the pandemic, I feel she has been kept safe and well. Since the re-opening of visiting I feel this has been done very professionally with the safety of the residents in mind. The food is good and the staff are very caring. My first visit to her
room is today as I have been fully vaccinated. Communication on these changes have been very good keeping me updated.

My Mum went to Highcroft Hall for respite care. Each member of staff from management to carers were friendly, efficient and extremely caring. Mum was very content during her time in Highcroft Hall and I was able to enjoy a small break with peace of mind that she was safe and being well cared for. I
cannot thank the staff enough.

During this difficult time we are living in I would like to express my gratitude to the management and staff for their care, co-operation and patience. I haven't been able to visit my mum who is almost 106 since lockdown, but I keep in touch every day and the staff and management are always very pleasant
polite and they go out of their way to speak to me even though they are extremely busy.

All the staff work extremely hard at all times. It has been extremely reassuring to know that my loved one has been looked after so well during this period of lockdown (as she was prior to lockdown). I cannot praise the staff enough; they are all so pleasant and caring. The care home is kept extremely
clean and never smells like some care homes I visited.

My lovely nan found it difficult at first to come into the home but she's settled in over the last week or so, now we visit most days and she seems happy and not so agitated and I found that she's doing a lot more with her time. She gets involved with the activities daily, I have seen evidence she has
been doing things on the activities board, the activities lady seems to get them to do things and keeps them occupied, you wouldn't think your loved ones would do some of the things they do. She also says the food is nice and she always seems to be eating. The management team are very good, the young lad on the desk always welcomes us. Also, they always find time to talk to you, it's very nice to know that nan has settled in well, she looks clean, well kept and the home is lovely and clean. Her bedroom is lovely too and I found the staff all friendly, it's a little difficult at weekends getting in, as no one manages the doors but the security is very good once in. Thankyou Highcroft, keep up the good work.

The home is very good and my wife is very happy and settled there. The only thing I find perplexing is trying to gain entry at weekends. I am sure someone would do a few hours voluntary sat at the desk letting people in as I would!

The care that the staff gave my grandmother in her last 5 months of her life was exceptional. I cannot thank the staff enough - thank you to the manager and all the staff. I was always sceptical about putting Nan in a home but you all really went beyond and above to care for my nan. Sanctuary homes
really are very lucky to have such a hard-working dedicated team who really care from the heart - beautiful place and thank you for everything.

Would highly recommend this home. Upon arrival, there is always a member of staff on reception to greet and assist you. The building is clean, airy, warm and comfortable. The bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and warm. In the dayroom, there are comfortable armchairs and activities for the residents
to keep them occupied. The dining tables are laid out to a high standard where the meals, which are of high quality and nutritious are served. Staff are efficient and caring. A first-class home.

My mom had to go into the home recently for permanent residency and I find the home pleasant, excellent facilities, comfortable rooms with en-suite and very friendly staff. The Manager and staff on reception are excellent and deal with any issues I have come across.
The only thing I can see so far
that hopefully improves is, I wish my mom would be encouraged more to join in daily activities.
This is a very good, caring home and happy my mom is now settled there.

In 2013 my aunt and uncle became residents of Highcroft Hall. Sadly Aunt died in 2014 and Uncle in 2019. The care given was exemplary and we are thankful that they were both able to end their days in the surroundings, and with carers who they knew.

My late uncle was a resident at Highcroft for over 6 years initially with his wife who died there 4 years ago. My uncle died there in February. After being diagnosed with cancer, it was my uncle's dearest wish that he died in what had become his home and this of his late wife. Despite the challenges
as he became frailer and more dependent, the care staff did all they could to provide the care and support he and his family needed and wen 'the extra mile' to enable him to die as he wished.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.250)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.250) out of 10 for Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.681 for Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (66 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.681
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.569 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.4 = 0.769
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
