At Highcroft Hall the team, several of whom have been with the home for around 10 years, are devoted to enriching the lives of their residents. They support them to have an active role to play in how their home is run, giving them a true sense of belonging and purpose.

Providing residential and dementia care, they also offer respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance. These are ideal for family carers who would like to plan a short break themselves.

There are beautiful spaces to relax in. The garden room is a tranquil area to enjoy and there is a cinema room, complete with a popcorn machine for movie afternoons.

There is a vintage café and a hair and beauty room, with a mobile hairdresser visiting every week, as well as welcoming lounges. And the bedrooms are all beautifully decorated, with ensuite walk-in wet rooms.

The residents enjoy wonderful activities, from pamper sessions and pub lunches to the gardening club. This summer they have loved growing their own produce, with everything from tomatoes and radishes to cucumbers and lettuces, proudly harvesting it for the chef to use in the kitchen. Seeing how popular the gardening has been, the home’s maintenance operative has built more raised planters which can be used by the residents in wheelchairs, ready for this year.

And talking of food, the home’s chef of over 10 years prepares delicious home-cooked meals for the residents. His specialities are his freshly made cakes and pastries, especially chocolate eclairs and scones, which the residents enjoy for afternoon tea.

The team are passionate about keeping those community connections alive. Students from the local high school come in every week to spend time with the residents, and every month the local church run a service in the home.

And there are regular trips to see their fellow residents at Sanctuary Care’s nearby care home, to enjoy activities and friendship.

I feel that the staff are friendly, made the transition here very welcoming and made to feel at ease. My relative is settled in nicely and likes it here. Staff keep residents motivate and join in activities, there are activities for the physically able and those not so physically able.
It is a pleasure
to visit here, all staff and residents are welcoming.
The care home is kept clean and safe and very pleasing and relaxing on the eye.

Highcroft Hall staff have been so supportive of my Mom who passed away peacefully on the 22 June 2017 after being there for 18 months.
Mom was well looked after and the staff were lovely and supportive not only to the residents but with the family too. I would recommend Highcroft to people and so would
my siblings.

My mother has been in Highcroft Hall for eighteen months, in that time I have got to know the staff really well and can honestly say are all friendly and more than happy to follow your wants and needs. Family can visit as much as you need, as it can be a stressful time when a family member has to go
into a home.

Rooms are pleasant and comfortable with all that's needed, you can add your own things to make it a home from home, there are activities and entertainment to keep residents occupied. We as a family, we are happy with the personal care she receives. We would recommend to anyone looking for a care home.

Since my mother has been at this home she has been treated with loving care and all her needs have been met. She always tells me they do their very best for me and keep an eye on her all the time which makes her feel loved. My mother is now 102, so this makes it a satisfying feeling when we as a family
leave her in their care.

After much ongoing problems, management finally managed to fix the light in my mother's bedroom. They were very helpful and supportive while dealing with the matter. I was extremely pleased when my mother's bedroom light was finally repaired. I then approached staff to show my full appreciation.

As an 'active' visitor of the elderly visiting in the hospital, nursing care home and supported living, I was struck by the ambiance and homely atmosphere. In addition; the high level of cleanliness and personal touch and respect which is shown to residents. This has really had an impact on me.

The home is always welcoming. The staff are always very pleasant and work extremely hard to maintain the homes standards. The facilities/activities are really good. My mother is very contented and well looked after and all her needs are met. On a more personal note the manager and his team are aware
of a minor family issue and have been really supportive and understanding of this. Many thanks to all the staff (including caterers and domestics) for their continued ongoing care of my mother. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Highcroft Hall in the future.

My Nan is very well looked after in Highcroft Hall and is very content. The staff are pleasant and assist my Nan in every way. The home is very clean and welcoming. The activities are varied and plentiful, even though my Nan doesn't partake in all of them. My Nan says that "All the staff are nice to
her and that there is always plenty to eat". My Mum and the rest of the family, have got peace of mind that she is looked after so well, as her dementia status can be challenging. Thank you to all concerned.

I'm the eldest daughter and previous to my mother's placement at Highcroft Hall my sister, brother and myself looked after mom daily from her dementia diagnosis till her arrival at Highcroft Hall where the staff have taken over our roles to our great satisfaction and appreciation which we cannot thank
the staff enough. Mom is extremely happy and contented and that's what matters to us.

I have to say the staff at Highcroft Hall are very good you can ask them questions about the mother in law and they will answer to the best of their ability and if not sure will get someone else who has been with her on that day to tell me how she is doing, which I find most helpful because I can't
get there every day because of work, so I'm happy to leave my mother in law in their capable hands- doing a fine job.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.250)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.250) out of 10 for Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.681 for Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (66 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.681
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.569 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.4 = 0.769
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
