At Highcroft Hall the team, several of whom have been with the home for around 10 years, are devoted to enriching the lives of their residents. They support them to have an active role to play in how their home is run, giving them a true sense of belonging and purpose.

Providing residential and dementia care, they also offer respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance. These are ideal for family carers who would like to plan a short break themselves.

There are beautiful spaces to relax in. The garden room is a tranquil area to enjoy and there is a cinema room, complete with a popcorn machine for movie afternoons.

There is a vintage café and a hair and beauty room, with a mobile hairdresser visiting every week, as well as welcoming lounges. And the bedrooms are all beautifully decorated, with ensuite walk-in wet rooms.

The residents enjoy wonderful activities, from pamper sessions and pub lunches to the gardening club. This summer they have loved growing their own produce, with everything from tomatoes and radishes to cucumbers and lettuces, proudly harvesting it for the chef to use in the kitchen. Seeing how popular the gardening has been, the home’s maintenance operative has built more raised planters which can be used by the residents in wheelchairs, ready for this year.

And talking of food, the home’s chef of over 10 years prepares delicious home-cooked meals for the residents. His specialities are his freshly made cakes and pastries, especially chocolate eclairs and scones, which the residents enjoy for afternoon tea.

The team are passionate about keeping those community connections alive. Students from the local high school come in every week to spend time with the residents, and every month the local church run a service in the home.

And there are regular trips to see their fellow residents at Sanctuary Care’s nearby care home, to enjoy activities and friendship.

No issues or complaints at all! Awesome, amazing, friendly, positive, happy, comfortable, hotel welcoming, caring, smiley, feels great, smells great, looks great and delivers from the first second of parking to entering to being greeted was OUTSTANDING! So friendly and understanding and helpful. The
staff, facilities, actions, activities and just everything was brilliant, I loved the place immediately and felt at home, so did mum after being wrenched from house in Leeds after falls and fractured spine in (my house). Highcroft made her mental state transform from being wheelchair bound, hoisted person for four months in hospital to happy positive person who walked! out back to independent sheltered housing. Excellent! Thank you so much !!!

Very disappointed in the cleanliness of the rooms. Bed linen had not been changed in three weeks. Fridge not cleaned.
Reply from Andrew Greenway, Home Manager at Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home

I am really sorry to hear you are not happy with the cleanliness of the home, however our residents’ bedrooms are hoovered and cleaned daily, with bed linen changed at least once every two days. The rooms are also deep cleaned every month. If you would like to discuss this with me directly you are more than welcome to.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.250)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.250) out of 10 for Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.681 for Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (66 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.681
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.569 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.4 = 0.769
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
