Anchor’s Herries Lodge, in Sheffield, is a purpose-built home supporting up to 47 older people to live a comfortable lifestyle, as well as providing dementia care. The home continues to welcome new residents for respite stays and permanent care.

A contemporary and modern care home, Herries Lodge offers en suite wet rooms with a range of facilities including a hair salon and a bar area.

The care team get to know customers and work with them to organise stimulating activities which match individual and group interests, both in the care home as well as in the local community. Individual needs are regularly assessed to ensure customers' care plans meet their lifestyle requirements.

Meals are cooked fresh and from locally sourced and seasonal ingredients where possible by a highly trained Chef Manager and kitchen staff.

Herries Lodge is operated by Anchor which is England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for those over 55 years of age and has 60 years of experience as a provider of services to older people.

Herried Lodge care home must be one of the best homes in the area. I looked at several homes, and this one came top. You notice the cleanliness when you walk in. The care staff are excellent. They are so wonderful with the resident and treat them with respect. My mum called in her home until she died
on 29th May 2020. I live 400 miles away, so this wasn't easy for me. Thankfully, I was kept informed if needed. Since 2016, the new manager at Herries Lodge care home needs to be complimented as you can feel it's a team effort to keep the home running smoothly.
Thank you to all staff, including the kitchen and cleaning.

Mother-in-law has been here for 8-months now, and she's still really happy. She's well looked after, given the freedom to roam within the building or keep to her room as she wishes. She loves her room, with shower and toilet and space for her things around her.

Many aspects of the care provided to my late mother at Herries Lodge were outstanding. Of particular note, is the kindness and understanding demonstrated by the care staff, who did their very best to meet my mother's needs in a dignified and respectful way. Staff worked particularly hard to help me
maintain contact with my mother through the lockdown, using video calls. I would definitely recommend Herries Lodge for the provision of dementia care and for staff who show excellent professionalism and commitment.

Very approachable staff and management. Polite and supportive. As this has been lockdown time, I cannot make comments on activities, food and drink. Not sure what facilities actually means. Family members not allowed during mealtimes, therefore cannot see what the food is to make a judgment, sorry.
The last time when allowed in, I wasn't very impressed with the thin shabby towels! Sorry. Thank you to all staff for your support and care of residents.

It's not really the facilities that define a good care home; it's the people. The facilities are fine here at Herries Lodge, but the staff are wonderful. The kindness and effort they showed my mum was tremendous. Trying to show kindness to very confused people consistently is difficult but the team
here managed that every day. Thanks for showing my mum love and care and making her life so much better.

I consider our family to have been very fortunate to find Herries Lodge. My mum, who had advanced Alzheimer's, lived at Herries for 18 months and after a short period of adjustment was very happy there. She was cared for with dignity and love, she was happy every day. My dad (who visited every day)
was made to feel welcome and part of the family, although he could be challenging himself sometimes. Due to poor mobility, my dad also went to live at Herries and the staff made him feel very welcome. Thank you for making a very difficult time a little easier.

The response over the last 5 months concerning the pandemic has been excellent with care, attention and the well-being of my mother being the most important consideration by all staff and management. Both hygiene and safety have been the most important and fulfilled throughout the period and is now

Herries Lodge was a Godsend after my parents were in an awful home. Herries helped me moved my parents into Herries hassle-free. The manager and all staff, especially four particular members, are beautiful, caring and professional carers. They made my fathers last months happy, comfortable and he was
smiling a lot. Every time we saw him, he was happy. The cared for him with such dignity right until his passing. Now they care for my mum wonderfully. I am forever grateful.

My family could not have wished for better care. The carers were considerate, kind and cheerful. My wife always appeared to be cheerful whenever we visited and her face always lit up when carers approached her. The management was always sympathetic to our needs.

My mother was only in Herries Lodge for two months before she passed away but she was the happiest I've seen her in years, the care was outstanding. Everyone was so friendly and she settled in straight away. I would definitely recommend the home to anyone looking for one. All the carers got to know

Herries Lodge provides an excellent level of care. My relative was very happy here for the almost six years she lived there. She often said how lovely the staff were and how much she liked the food. She loved the friendly atmosphere and had a good group of friends. I always found the staff to be very
caring, particularly so in the last few months of her life when nothing was too much trouble. The standard of end of life care provided by the staff was exceptional.

Every time I visit, my grandfather is always smiling, looks happy and content and well dressed.


We no longer have to worry about him at home as we know he is safe and well looked after.


Grandad always says the staff are lovely and kind, and we ourselves have found them to be friendly and helpful

and going out of their way for all residents.


The rooms are bright, spacious, clean and look like a hotel room!

Your home is very good in many ways, but could be better in some ways.
Such as there seems to be no activities for stimulative response to your residents. Also no environment in the home on any of the days I've visited. For the fees you don't provide anything but basic provisions. Such as nails, hands
and feet unless it is extra. Also, hairdressing unless paid for extra.

Care home fees vary from provider to provider and from location to location, at Anchor we offer care home residents an array of different services and are proud to always be transparent about our care home fees. The staff at Herries Lodge are excellent, well-motivated and kind. They are generous with their time and keep a careful eye on residents in terms of their health. I am always contacted if they have any concerns about my mother. The only criticism is that there are not many activities for residents.
They watch TV and sleep. They don't go into the garden.

I visited Herries Lodge to visit my cousin.
She moved into the care home three weeks ago and I was very impressed.
The home is spotless and has no urine smell at all.
The staff I met were all open and everyone seemed relaxed and comfortable.
Her room was beautiful and we were able to take some of
her own memorabilia, her TV etc and it was pap tested by a very nice chap.
All in all, it is the nicest care home I've ever visited.
The food is excellent and we her family are confident she is being very well cared for.
The place to me is excellent.

Herries Lodge provided a very secure and caring environment for my mum in the last years of her life. Although her dementia progressed, staff always treated her with dignity, respect and as an individual. Her room was spacious and nicely decorated and it was a pleasure to visit.


The home took care

through extra services such as hairdressing to help mum feel positive about herself when we visited we were always made welcome as a family and staff took care to keep us updated with the information we needed. I'm very grateful to all the carers who looked after my mum in challenging times.

A bright, modern care home, with en-suite rooms and a fridge in all rooms.
Very friendly staff ad easily approachable.
A good size garden with gazebos and benches.
Individual care books can be looked at at any time.
More activities for every day would be better i.e dominoes, jigsaws etc.

I have been in Herries Lodge for 5 years in April and have been really happy in the care home. I find the staff very helpful and sociable and have catered for my every need. I have got peace of mind because there is always someone on hand to help me whatever my needs are.
