Herries Lodge

The care at Herries Lodge is first class and we could never thank the staff enough for the exemplary care they give to our relative.

Such as there seems to be no activities for stimulative response to your residents. Also no environment in the home on any of the days I've visited. For the fees you don't provide anything but basic provisions. Such as nails, hands and feet unless it is extra. Also, hairdressing unless paid for extra.

The staff at Herries Lodge are excellent, well-motivated and kind. They are generous with their time and keep a careful eye on residents in terms of their health. I am always contacted if they have any concerns about my mother. The only criticism is that there are not many activities for residents. They watch TV and sleep. They don't go into the garden.

The place to me is excellent.

Herries Lodge provided a very secure and caring environment for my mum in the last years of her life. Although her dementia progressed, staff always treated her with dignity, respect and as an individual. Her room was spacious and nicely decorated and it was a pleasure to visit.

The home took care through extra services such as hairdressing to help mum feel positive about herself when we visited we were always made welcome as a family and staff took care to keep us updated with the information we needed. I'm very grateful to all the carers who looked after my mum in challenging times.

More activities for every day would be better i.e dominoes, jigsaws etc.

I have been in Herries Lodge for 5 years in April and have been really happy in the care home. I find the staff very helpful and sociable and have catered for my every need. I have got peace of mind because there is always someone on hand to help me whatever my needs are.

My two main concerns were poor quality food (although mum had a poor appetitie so I think she wouldn't have enjoyed anything). Secondly, I do think there should have been more activities and also more entertinament.

The home took care of my brother from August. He had dementia. He loved the home from the minute he arrived. It's lovely and airy, wide corridors, no smell of urine which was prevalent in most other places. There's a cinema room, a coffee bar. It's wonderful, however, the most important element was the staff. I have used other care homes for elderly relatives, but never known such wonderful, caring staff. They are fantastic. I cannot recommend them too highly.
