Felbury House Residential Care Home has a family history of over 40 years in running care homes.

They run the home how they would want to live in it and they want you to live here in the same way that you would live in your own home.

70% of the staff have been with Felbury for 5+ years and all are trained to support and encourage independence and dignity at all times. All staff are encouraged to train vocationally and most hold NVQ/QCF level 2 in Health & Social Care as a minimum. However, kindness cannot be taught and this is the core skill they look for when recruiting.

Felbury House Residential Care Home is a luxury 2012 development, designed to suit comfortable daily living for those with care needs. Spacious suites with kitchens and studio apartments are available for long-term residential needs and also for temporary respite (when available), with the scenic surroundings of the picturesque Surrey hills and looking across to Leith Hill - in the stunning village of Holmbury St Mary where they actively support the local church, school and surrounding pubs and small businesses - an ideal location for individuals to achieve a balance of life with care and still involved in community.

Felbury House remained a covid-free home throughout the pandemic due to innovative measures taken and diligent infection control standards.

Personal care needs are met individually based on meeting with you and having an informal chat.

Felbury House us covered with care staff. The management is always available to give any help that is needed, be it personal, medical or shopping and always with such pleasure. Felbury has become a home to all the residents, and it's a great pleasure to see. Strive on rosemary in the building.
Reply from Jo Kennedy, Partner at Felbury House Residential Care HomeIt is completely our pleasure to give our help with anything. My favourite part of my job is you giving me a shopping list and me being able to fulfill it for you; I much prefer doing jobs like this then all my paperwork in the office. It is such a privilege to look after you and I look forward to seeing you every time I come in.

My previous home is two miles north of the area. Car use for weekly shopping always essential for being a widower. At 90 years, I decided to stop diving and moved into a local care home, where I am very content, well-fed and among good companions. My spacious room has wide views over the woodlands -
what more could I ask for.
Reply from Jo Kennedy, Partner at Felbury House Residential Care HomeI know making that move from your independent home was a big decision for you and I am glad that we could support you positively with that, it's nice to hear that you still feel content with that decision. I look forward to being able to take you to local attractions again very soon so that we can start 2021 as we intended!

Nan has been at Felbury House since last year. We didn't think she would settle and were surprised and relieved when she did so quickly. The staff are so kind and lovely, last time I arrived Nan was up and dancing in the lounge with one of the staff, it was so lovely catching her having fun!
Reply from Jo Kennedy, Partner at Felbury House Residential Care HomeWe are often surprised ourselves at how soon people feel settled! A little love can make the transition easy. It’s always good to hear when residents are dancing “You don’t stop dancing because you get old: you get old because you stop dancing!”

Our Mum joined the Felbury House "family" at the age of 98. She was made so welcome and so were we, as a family. Their care and attention to personal needs and requirements are exceptional and soon Mum was joining in with all the activities. She loved all the exercise classes, musical treats, luncheons,
canal trips, day trips to Wisley Gardens and a trip to Buckingham Palace which I was also invited to. What an amazing day together. The continuity of care staff is what makes it so special - they all know each resident personally and their needs - nothing is too much trouble. The care plans are efficient and updated and we were kept informed of any changes at all times which was very reassuring. At nearly 102 years Mum's health naturally started to deteriorate and we were worried that we may have to find nursing care but no, this was her "home" and an end of life care plan was put into place. The care was second to none and so was the support we received. Thank you so much Felbury House.
Reply from Jo Kennedy, Partner at Felbury House Residential Care HomeKaren
Thank you so much for your kind review. Your mum was a really wonderful lady and made each day count; she was an absolute "Joy" to care for and made our work so rewarding. As you know your mum inspired us to create the "Bucket List of things to do before we're 101" and she carried on way past that!, Your mum will never be forgotten at Felbury and our bucket list of activities: Buckingham Palace and The Ritz etc. will be her legacy.

My husband was a short-stay resident in Felbury House (December 2019 to January 2020). I was very happy with all aspects of the care provided, but having no previous knowledge of such establishment/ability to compare, have graded good to excellent as minor incident give 90% rather than 100%.

I am so glad you feel settled and happy, however; I noticed that we have not received full marks in all areas yet. The Christmas spread was lovely.
Most of the team are friendly but some are not, they undertake their tasks and just walk out of the room without saying a word. The doors to each room are left to slam when entering or exiting which is very unpleasant.
Reply from Jo Kennedy, Partner at Felbury House Residential Care HomeThank you for the constructive feedback received, we were obviously concerned with your comments and after speaking with you in person and then discussing the issue with staff: we hope that your concern has now been corrected to your satisfaction. The manger and senior team are always available for you to speak to should you have any further issues. We want you to feel content with our care at all times, we can only achieve this if you tell us when we get things wrong so thank you for voicing your concerns.

The care that mum received over her three-year stay at Felbury was always kind and compassionate and when her needs become more demanding over this time, her care plan was adjusted to meet these needs. We were always consulted and kept informed every step of the way. The last few months had been particularly
challenging for mum's team of carers and it gave the family peace of mind to know that she was in very capable hands. We cannot thank them enough.

Having reached 89 and still being reliant on being able to drive into my local town, Dorking for my shopping needs, I decided to call it a day and move into a local care home. So here I am in the lovely village of Holmbury St Mary, being well fed and cared for at Felbury House.
Reply from Jo Kennedy, Partner at Felbury House Residential Care HomeThank you. If I may say, you are one of a minority of people who have ever called up and said, "I am looking for a home for myself", you put your trust in me and Felbury when we first met and it makes me really happy to know that you feel you made the right decision for yourself. I strongly believe in empowerment and independence and you are a champion of both, thank you for making our service here so worthwhile.

From day one, we have had no complaints. Quite the opposite. All staff are delightful and appear to care genuinely about all the residents. Staff patience, willingness to go that extra mile and general demeanour are wonderful and really appreciated by our entire family. The home is kept clean and the
atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Much thought is given to the day-to-day quality of life as well as celebrating birthdays and events which are always with very popular live music. We love Felbury House - thank you.
Reply from Jo Kennedy, Partner at Felbury House Residential Care HomeAh what a wonderful review! Thank you so much!
The support and positivity you bring to your mum and to the home is really appreciated: it makes a sometimes challenging job so much easier when we are able to work with you as a team and as your mum proves; this is how people thrive.

My mother lived at Felbury House for six years and I cannot thank the staff enough for all their care. It is a family-run home and this is very evident with the staff taking time to get to know the residents which made such a difference. I was listened to and aware of everything that was happening.
It was reassuring to know that there was always someone to talk to if there were any concerns. Nothing was too much trouble. The care at the end of my mother's life was exemplary, making a very difficult situation as easy as possible. I could not recommend this home more highly.

My deep apologies to you both for not immediately writing to thank you for the wonderful stay I had at your outstanding establishment a few days ago. Everything in your celebrated institution was notable: the accommodation, the food, the layout and the eminent staff. You employ a most helpful and efficient
group of ladies to run your business.
I very much enjoyed staying with you and hope, in future days that I can continue to enjoy the experience.

A very quiet home, very well furnished and suitable for the elderly. A home from home. Pleasant and caring staff. The home is situated right in the country, no shops or other facilities near.
We were very glad to be able to find a room for dad here for the past 18 months. The rooms are a very good
size and big washrooms (no baths). The home has worked hard to provide everything dad needed. It was always easy to discuss anything with the management. A sunny conservatory and very pleasant courtyard for sitting when the weather allows.
Reply from Jo Kennedy, Owner at Felbury House Residential Care HomeThank you for your comments. Please, may I just correct that we have a mixture of "wetrooms" and bathrooms (with Apollo walk-in baths), each room is decorated differently to each person's personal needs.
I am sorry that you also felt our activities are only satisfactory; especially when we make such efforts to take your father out on one-to-one trips as his choice - only this week taking him to his favourite restaurant in Stenning which is an hour's drive away. We try to provide activities for each person as an individual and we know that not everyone enjoys group activities. We do our best to accommodate a variety of choices and are sure that no other homes go to such lengths to take people out on one-to-one trips.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.894)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.894) out of 10 for Felbury House Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.894 for Felbury House Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (212 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 235 Ratings = 4.894
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Felbury House Residential Care Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
