We were apprehensive about whether or not my mother would settle in a care home.
After moving into Coppice Lodge our fears all diminished. The staff are so caring and attentive, nothing is too much trouble for them.
Her bedroom is very homely, with her own television and fridge included.
There is
an excellent variety of food at meal times. Plenty of activities and entertainment throughout the day and evening.
Coppice Lodge is bright, spacious and most welcoming.

Home very clean, well looked after. Staff very friendly and approachable. Food looks very good. Nice room. Very good entertainment every week. I feel my mum is safe there, she's happy to be there.

When we went looking for a residential home for my auntie to stay in, we were so impressed with everything at Coppice Lodge, we decided there and then that it would be perfect for her. My auntie was a resident for just over a year.
We could not have asked any more of the staff during her stay, they
were superb with her.
Unfortunately, she has passed away, we were there with her and the carers were brilliant and made sure we were ok at every stage.
I would certainly recommend Coppice Lodge to anyone.

Coppice Lodge was a failing home with no real organisation or personal touches. It was very worrying to have Grandma here and caused a great deal of stress to my parents.
We cannot believe the turnaround since the manager joined you, utterly amazing. You can see the countless positive effects of her
management skills, you feel it as a family, you see it in your relative and you see and feel it in the change in staff who are motivated and full of purpose.
The manager has restored faith for us in Ideal Care Homes and created an outstanding care home that we could not recommend enough.

My mother has been living here over 4 years now and has seen many changes over this time but is now in a position that is more stable. It is a bright and cheerful place with high standards. The food is cooked freshly every day and if she is not wanting anything off the daily menu, they are flexible
enough to choose something she might like. She has her hair done every week which gives her a boost. The carers care! The Management care! Mum is very happy and I genuinely believe she is loved here. If there are any issues I address them with the Manager and she investigates immediately and finds a solution. I am listened to and ideas from relatives are always welcomed. There are many events laid on and a weekly programme produced for residents. The coffee bar is a real boost to the home and is somewhere extra for relatives to meet with their loved ones and enjoy a coffee and sometimes amazing cakes made by the kitchen staff. I am more than happy my mother is here and safe!

After a couple of spells in hospital, my aunt was pleased to be back at Coppice Lodge. She has another UTI and while visiting her, a carer came in every 10-15 minutes to check that my aunt was OK and encouraged her to drink. My aunt wanted some grapes and one of the carers very kindly popped to the
shops for her. The home is very clean, comfortable, well decorated and warm. The carers are attentive to residents and visitors. my aunt seems happy here.

I feel lucky to have got my mum into Coppice Lodge with almost no notice when her partner and carer was hospitalised with a terminal prognosis. She has moderate to severe dementia. First impressions back in August were that it was very smart being newly opened. Facilities etc similar to a hotel. Four
or five visits on mum says she is happy and comfortable on each occasion. They seem to organise plenty of entertainment and I can't fault what I have seen of the staff- lots of hugging. Food must be good as mum is putting on weight. Most telling was when I visited with a council worker there to assess mum's capacity. She asked mum where she was and she responded "In a home", "Yes but what sort of home?". After repeating the question to a puzzled and exasperated mum three times mum replied: "Well it's a loving happy home of course!". Nuff said.

Mum is very contented and well looked after, she gets on well with the staff. The staff are always helpful when help is needed by myself or mum. They always keep me informed about mum's health and are quick to get medical help when required. It is a relaxing home to live and visit.

Very pleased with the way it's run, they have a singer on nearly every week and party night which includes a nice meal and a glass of wine. The rooms all have ensuite with TV and DVD and a decent size fridge. The staff are really friendly and caring, you can come and go whenever you want and you treat
it like home. If you want a coffee or a meal you are always welcome to have one. I would rate it 10 out of 10.

Since the assignment of new manager, everything about the home has tremendously improved, it has come alive! Prior to this, the home was very, very poor in all aspects, apart from the caring staff, who despite abysmal management and lack of direction, continued to do their best.
Commendations to laundry
and catering staff, always doing their best. Secretary has good communication skills. However, to date, the gardens and outside appearance are dreadful and require regular maintenance. The frontage is dire, probably due to understaffing.

I think on the whole that standards in the care home are good. However, from experience of visiting people over at least 3 years and in different parts of the building, I have seen that's standards are not always the same all over.
I also think that the owners do not always know the direct needs of
residents or even the staff they employ. Numbers of staff on duty at certain times of the day leave a lot to be desired, particularity early evening and change over time. Dementia residents need more attention and sometimes one to one care, but staff also need to have variety and space from demanding residents.

“I really enjoy organising the activities and entertainment for the residents and seeing how much they enjoy the experiences.”


Angela has worked with Ideal Carehomes as Front of House Manager since October 2015. She has a wealth of experience in the care sector, starting her journey as Night Care Assistant in 1994 and progressing to a Senior Night Care Assistant for a Lincolnshire-based company, where she gained her NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care. In 2004, Angela decided to broaden her skills in the domiciliary care industry and worked as Deputy Care Manager, where she gained her Registered Manager’s Award. She then became an NVQ Assessor and gained her A1 and V1 qualifications.


In her role at Coppice Lodge, Angela is a welcoming and familiar face to family and friends visiting the home. She likes nothing more than liaising with prospective residents and assisting them from initial enquiry to moving into their new home. Angela works closely with the Home Manager and Regional Activities Executive to arrange regular and exciting activities for the residents, including a ‘Social Saturday’ event which takes place each week in the brand new café area at home.
