The assessment placers were quick and efficient leading to a smooth admission. The room is nice, like a hotel room. Plenty of staff, all of whom are helpful and charming. I am confident that my wife is receiving excellent care, kindness and consideration. I am delighted that we chose Gracewell.

I am absolutely delighted with the care my Mother received by everyone at Gracewell. All the staff were kind, polite, jolly and lovely in every way I am so very very happy that my Mother went there as a broken distressed elderly woman and left after 2 months a different person. She received nothing
but kindness and has left saying she would be very happy to return so thank you Gracewell from the bottom of my heart.

I have found the staff to be very kind and caring while looking after my father, this has all helped him to settle into his new surroundings which can be very difficult at his time of life, especially when not well. Thank you.

My Mum went there for end of life care. Unfortunately, she died just one week later but during that week, we saw some of the kindest and most caring staff we have seen anywhere. The kindness and care were also extended to us, her family, and helped us all at a very difficult time. The food offered was
amazing - although pureed, it was still very tasty and helped Mum to eat better. A fantastic place with fantastic staff. Thank you.

My wife and I were fortunate that her Mother spent the last 11 months of her life at Gracewell of Fareham. The care she received from all the staff from the administration team to the nursing staff was simply superb. After visiting her we could return home knowing that she was being looked after by
caring considerate staff who treated her with dignity but also as a friend. She was happy and referred to Gracewell as her home, a testament to the manner in which the home is run. Sadly she passed away just before Christmas 2018 but knowing she was so happy there has given us comfort. We will miss visiting Gracewell as we too had a warm relationship with both staff and other residents.

My father has very recently moved into a bungalow at Gracewell. As a family, we feel assured that we really have made the right choice. As my father who has dementia does not currently need a high level of care he can live more independently in a bungalow but at the same time, we know that he is safe
and is being monitored. When the time comes for him to have more care, he will benefit from being in the familiar surroundings of the home. The relevant staff have gone out of their way to make his move as smooth as possible; nothing has been too much trouble and he has been/is being treated with compassion respect and understanding.

The Nursing staff, carers and associated staff at Gracewell of Fareham provided an excellent level of care to my mother during the final month of her life. The Clinical Nurses ensured that she was provided with the right level of palliative care and pain relief, while the Care Assistants assisted to
make her as comfortable as possible as well as showing great compassion and respect towards her. Nothing seems to be too much to ask of any of the staff there. I am pleased that she was able to find such a wonderful nursing home and as a family, we felt that it was one of the best decisions we could have made on her behalf.

The care and compassion shown to both my mum and us, as a family, by the entire team at Gracewell has been outstanding - from our first enquiry to the admission and settling in period for my mum, we have been informed and involved in a hugely informative and supportive way - this was a huge decision
to make but absolutely the right one for our dearest mum .

All the staff at Gracewell of Fareham come across as being very caring and attentive and are always doing their best to satisfy my mother's requests. The building has a very pleasant ambience and my mother's room is very nice. The food looks good and there seems to be a range of activities for residents
to participant in. The nursing staff appear very knowledgeable at looking after my mother's condition. We currently have no complaints about any aspects of the service provided by Gracewell and would recommend it to others.
Overall we feel my mother is being treated with dignity.

After my mum was admitted to hospital for the 4th time in 3 months we decided the next step forward was a care home for her.
Gracewell's staff made this process from hospital to care home an easier process than we had anticipated. All staff welcoming and friendly and we were well informed about the
functioning of Gracewell's. My mum is now settling down nearly and I have less worries about her knowing she is in very capable hands. Many thanks to all at Gracewell.

Initially, we were welcomed by the staff and told that care could be provided until the end of life if necessary. After the six months it took for my dad to recover from lymphoma with chemotherapy treatment, he was diagnosed with dementia.
The staff had been great, looking after him initially but when
his needs became greater, instead of being moved to the dementia level, we were asked to find alternative care and leave Gracewell.
The family felt very let down and it was badly communicated by the management.
A real shame but we would not want our dad to remain somewhere where he was not wanted.

The care home is unlike others in the area in that as soon as one enters the building it has the feel and looks of a hotel rather than a home. The resident's room is very good, attractive and kept scrupulously clean, the care is excellent, the staff nurses and carers alike are very approachable and
the family of the residents are also treated very well. They are kept well-informed of the resident’s health and welfare, they are able to visit at any time, are able to have meals with the resident if booked and can accompany residents to the entertainments if they wish. Nothing is too much trouble.

Above all, every single member of staff is friendly and welcoming, from the receptionist, cleaners, laundry workers, kitchen staff and the complete care team.

As I frequently tell friends and family, if I can’t have my husband at home then Gracewell is the best place he could be.

Choosing a care facility for a loved one - and then living with that decision - is one of the most stressful life events. I moved both vulnerable elderly parents to Gracewell Fareham 18 months ago. They both suffered from very severe dementia. I have witnessed nothing but exemplary care, delivered with
compassion and gentleness.
It is a family home environment, despite the fact that it is a professional nursing facility, and so there are no restrictions on visitors - 2 or 4 legged, feathers or fur.
There are a lot of staff in comparison to other facilities, and that is because each and every one of them can then focus primarily on the task that they are employed to do - so the environment is immaculate, laundry facilities are excellent, the food is wonderful, the gardens beautiful, the activities staff are very busy organising daily events and the nursing and caring teams have time to devote to your loved ones.
I can once again sleep at night because I know they are safe.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.861)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.861) out of 10 for Parker Meadows is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.861 for Parker Meadows is calculated as follows: ( (289 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 330 Ratings = 4.861
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Parker Meadows is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 89 registered maximum number of service users is 17.8, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

Before joining the team here, I was an acting commissioning manager. I have a level 5 NVQ in health and social care, as well as qualifications in leadership training. I have also completed the ROSPA Level 3 train-the-trainer course in moving and handling.

Care UK’s values mirror my own, which is one of the reasons why I wanted to work here. It also has a reputation for providing high-quality, person-centred care. As an organisation, there is a strong focus on innovation and a genuine desire to ensure residents’ wellbeing. There is also excellent professional development for colleagues who want to pursue a career in care.

In my role, you need to have compassion and empathy. It is also important to have strong communication skills, patience and adaptability. As with any leadership role, you also need to be resilient and be committed to continuous development.

As a home manager, I am here to support colleagues and to ensure we give residents the very best personalised care, and that they are happy, comfortable and safe. Knowing we make a real difference to people’s lives makes me proud of what we do here. It is also fantastic to see colleagues excel and progress in their own careers.

I have been lucky enough to have many career highlights. Ones that stand out include being able to support homes achieve outstanding CQC ratings and commissioning luxury care homes. Achieving a 10/10 for a home on carehome.co.uk was also another big highlight.

I have lots of interests outside of work, including science, particularly physics and biology. I like art, music and extreme sports, which I balance out with meditation. My focus though, is my family.
