My friend who is a resident and I invited four other friends to lunch at the bistro. We also used the library for a pre-lunch drink.

We had coffee afterwards in the lounge, The whole event was very enjoyable. All the staff were kind and caring and the food was very good.

My mother spent two weeks respite at West Hall. The care she was given was excellent. The staff kind and helpful. The grounds and facilities lovely, any additional requirements for my mother were facilities. This is the second time my mother has stayed here and is happy to continue in the future.

West Hall provides simply outstanding care and unrivalled resources. Without exception, the staff are wonderful, attentive, and utterly professional. They are highly trained and a pleasure to see each time my family and I visit. Circumstances have dictated that we move our Father to a new home nearer to his family, our sincere wish is that the new home begins to match the quality of West Hall.

The staff at West Hall have been tremendous and so much better than previous homes I have experienced. My mother has advanced Alzheimers and is currently going through a difficult period.
The staff, however, have been very pro-active to provide mum with the support she needs.

I have also been extremely impressed by the management.

The staff are the jewel in the crown at West Hall. The level of care and consideration is excellent. My Father-in-law is treated with great respect. The buildings and grounds are superb and kept to a high standard. The activities and food are varied and well run. Unfortunately, the design of the lodges and lack of air conditioning make the accommodation unbearably hot at times.

Reply from Nigel Allen, General Manager at West Hall

Thank you for your nice review and your feedback on the lodges and air conditioning. We are working to improve the ventilation before next summer and we are confident the improvements shall make West Hall an even more comfortable environment with greater access to the fabulous balconies in our lodges and so allow natural cool breezes to circulate through the living areas.

The care, love, friendliness and professionalism that was given to my husband on his return from a short stay in hospital was overwhelming. The kindness and encouragement to get him up and moving is awesome. Thank you, one and all, their attitude is only positive.

My mother has been at West Hall for the past year and a half. During that time she has been looked after by extremely friendly, knowledgeable and cheerful staff who have always been there to help when needed. The accommodation, food and facilities have been second to none, and the beautiful secure grounds add an extra safe outdoor environment for the residents.

Everyone from reception to management help make the residents, relatives and visitors feel at home. Our grandchildren love visiting their Great-Grandmother and my sister and I can relax in the knowledge that our mother is getting the best care that a residential home can offer.

This is an excellent care home which I would recommend to anyone; the facilities are excellent: e.g. shower room, outdoor patio, and wi-fi connection, as are the fittings and furnishings. The home has also been designed to be very wheelchair friendly. The staff and management are also very friendly and supportive. The home is also set in very attractive and well-maintained gardens.

My father had a very positive experience at West Hall. The food was always balanced and attractively served. There were plenty of daily activities, including outside entertainment, singers, music etc. The activities team are very hands on, and have good relationships with individual residents. The standard of care was very respectful and everyone was very hard working, always well presented and their training was always of a high standard. Always compassionate, fun and aware of medical conditions. My father who has Alzheimer's benefitted in many ways from his precious time at West Hall.

Both I and all my family are extremely impressed by the care home the quality of staff and especially the personal care they provide. It is clearly a home that does care for the residents. This means so much to our family whilst we all endure the terrible effect my wife's illness has on her and all who love her. I cannot speak highly enough of the standards and values that are so clearly part of the DNA of West Hall.

My husband had to go into respite care in January 2016. The local care home was unsatisfactory as it made him aggressive (he was taken into care for that reason). We, the family found West Hall on-line and visited. The home understands Alzheimer's and Dementia. They have plenty of staff who believe and carry out gentle guidance. Trips outside 5 times a week, visitors are welcome including children and pets. The grounds are lovely and open to both residents and visitors. He has been there and happy for 8 months.

I came for a fortnight respite care following abdominal surgery at a nearby hospital as there was no one to look after me at home. While the care was excellent, it was not made entirely clear to me that almost all the other residents were there because of dementia to a greater or lesser degree. Had I known this, I would probably still have come because of urgent needs, but it did mean there was no 'companionship'. (I should add that the person for whom I myself am the carer was there too and it was more appropriate for her).

My elderly disabled father has been a resident at West Hall since Sept 15 and I am absolutely delighted with the care and attention that the West Hall team have given him. Nothing is too much trouble and they genuinely do care about his health and well-being. The facilities are modern, clean and spacious with a traditional feel that is warm, comforting and cosy. My father is very comfortable at West Hall and rates the care team exceptionally high - he has complete confidence in their ability to look after his needs and often remarks on their friendly, warm approach to him.

Thank you West Hall

Paula Rifai
Paula RifaiJob Title:General ManagerJoined: 2025

I’m writing to introduce myself as the new General Manager of West Hall. I have had the privilege of working in the care sector for the past 35 years, and during this time, I have grown both professionally and personally. My journey started as a Carer, and through dedication and passion, I advanced to Senior Carer, Head of Care, Deputy Manager, and Acting Manager, before ultimately becoming a Registered Manager. For the past 26 years, I have been a Registered Manager with various care companies, where I have had the opportunity to achieve outstanding results, including two excellent outcomes and a "Good" rating with an Outstanding "Well Led" outcome in my previous care home.

Throughout my career, I’ve embraced every opportunity to enhance my skills and qualifications, ensuring that I meet the evolving standards and regulations required for this role. I joined Anchor in January 2023 as the Registered Care Home Manager for Moore Place, where I was thrilled to lead the team to achieve the top score of 10 on independent website carehome.co.uk. Our hard work paid off when Moore Place was ranked among the Top 20 Care Homes in the South East in 2024.

I am excited to take on the role of General Manager for West Hall. I am looking forward to working with the dedicated team here, getting to know the residents and their families, and leading West Hall to new heights. My vision is to work collaboratively with everyone, ensuring that we provide the highest standard of care and continue to thrive as a home.

Gary Dunn
Gary DunnJob Title:Deputy General ManagerJoined: 2025

It is my privilege to introduce myself as your new Deputy General Manager of West Hall. I have been working in the care sector for the past 10 years with my journey starting in my hometown of Swindon, where I worked in domiciliary care while maintaining the CQC Outstanding rating.

The wealth of experience and knowledge gained led me to continue with my passion to work within this sector. I moved to Surrey in 2019 and gained a position within Anchor as Team Leader at Moore Place. Throughout this time, I have seen many changes, working with a talented, and passionate team which we ensured Moore Place was recognised as a CQC “Good” rated care home in 2022 and Top 20 Care Home for the South East in 2024. For the past 12 months I have been in an Acting Deputy Manager role, successfully overseeing operational changes and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

This new chapter in my career at West Hall is an exciting opportunity, not only to work alongside such an outstanding team but also establishing a good rapport with residents and families alike.

I look forward to meeting you all and to continue the success of West Hall.

Sophie Waite
Sophie WaiteJob Title:Wellbeing ManagerJoined: 2025

I joined West Hall as the Wellbeing Manager in April 2025, and I’m thrilled to be part of such an incredible team. I graduated with a Drama degree in 2014 and began my career in care in February 2018. Since then, I’ve worked with a few different care providers, gaining valuable experience along the way. I truly believe I have the best job and have never looked back.

In addition to my experience, I commission the activities department for a new build care home, building close relationships with residents and their families, and ensuring the activity programme was designed to best support residents’ wellbeing and engagement.

During my time in care, I’ve been able to apply my creative skills to develop engaging and inclusive activity programmes. I’ve planned and organised a wide range of events and activities, including summer parties, Bonfire Night celebrations, archery sessions, Cognitive Stimulation Therapy sessions for residents living with dementia, and a unique ‘12 Weeks Around the World’ programme where residents virtually explore different countries through their culture, food, music, and traditions.

I’m passionate about delivering one-to-one activities and engagement to ensure we meet every resident’s needs, especially creating programmes tailored for those living with dementia. The most rewarding part of my role is building personal connections with residents and their families, which allows me to tailor activities that reflect the interests and preferences of everyone living in the home.

Mark Wren
Mark WrenJob Title:Services ManagerJoined: 2017

I am the Services Manager at Anchor West Hall and have been in this role since the beginning of January 2024, overseeing several departments which include catering, housekeeping, maintenance and activities. Supporting my colleagues and interacting with the residents here are the highlights of my day, and I couldn’t ask for a more picturesque location to work in; the manor house and grounds of West Hall are truly exquisite.

Overseeing the Hospitality and services of the home gives me the opportunity to work collaboratively with each head of department, ensuring that West Hall does not just meet the needs of the residents, but exceeds them every day by providing the level of care and service that our CQC rating of ‘Outstanding’ truly deserves.

Chola Chilufya
Chola ChilufyaJob Title:Oak Lodge - Lodge ManagerJoined: 2006

With over 19 years of dedicated service at Anchor, I am proud to have been part of a passionate team that has achieved consecutive CQC Outstanding ratings. My career has been rooted in a strong commitment to excellence, integrity, and a genuine passion for improving the lives of others.

As Lodge Manager, I focus on creating a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for residents where their wellbeing, dignity, and individual needs are at the heart of everything we do. I believe in building strong, trusting relationships not only with residents and their families, but also with the dedicated team I lead. I strive to nurture a positive culture where colleagues feel valued, empowered, and inspired to deliver exceptional care every day.

With a background in Biomedical Science and formal leadership training, I bring a thoughtful and analytical approach to management. I pride myself on being reliable, ambitious, and deeply motivated by the impact we can have on people's lives, making every day matter for those we care for.
