Unfortunately, my mum did not improve as much as I had hoped but that's is not due to any member of staff. Everyone has been fantastic. Thank you to everyone.

We visited a friend who became a resident a few months ago. The atmosphere at West Hall is one of friendly and helpful staff. The grounds both inside and outside are immaculate. Light air rooms. We had lunch at The Bistro a lovely setting with very good food and most importantly our friend is happy.

My husband, being in care for a short time, has received very kind and compassionate handling. He can be very difficult at times because of his dementia but he is always kindly distracted and guided. As his illness progressed, we would like him to stay and hopefully be as happy as he can.

Residents look very well cared for appearance wise. Sitting area in Birch welcoming and residents occupied and staff interacting,
My mother-in-law's room is very tidy and in a much cleaner state than some of our previous visits. She is very well taken care of here.

I've only interacted briefly with the manager and in terms of 'management', she's fabulous.

Dad was at West Hall for the last 2 1/2 years of his life. Throughout that time he was treated with dignity and respect by the staff - who treated all the family the same. We were pleased that he was able to stay at West Hall until the end so that he could pass peacefully in familiar surroundings.

My mum needed a respite break due to a change in her carer at home. She had already visited West Hall when planning for a longer-term option, so this fortnight was a good chance to experience the care. All the staff were excellent: welcoming, friendly, engaging and professional. They knew just how to manage the settling in challenges for an anxious, frail 85-year-old with early Alzheimer’s. The home is excellent, well designed for residents, bright, clean and very comfortable. My mum is back home but content that West Hall would be ideal for her in the future, either for another respite visit or for permanent care.

My mother recently spent 6 weeks in respite care at West Hall, and we couldn't have been happier with the level of service provided. Without exception, the care staff treated my mother with respect and kindness and were also extremely welcoming and kind to us when we visited. The team leaders managed the care plan with confidence and were fully aware of my mother's needs at all times.

The rooms are lovely and the facilities and activities are excellent. The food was of very good quality and teas, coffees and snacks were always being offered.

In addition, the client relationship management was excellent, professional with a personal touch, which made it very easy to deal with the administration and more practical issues.

Mum was very happy at West Hall and we would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone considering staying there.

I could not recommend West Hall more highly for its outstanding staff, facilities, care, activities and professionalism. Our mother is resident with moderately advanced dementia and we chose it because:

- The large community of residents means individuals are placed with people of similar age and condition who they quickly make friends with.
- The whole staff genuinely care, everyone smiles!
- Bright, spotless, modern, spacious and welcoming communal areas and bedrooms are cleverly designed to make a large facility feel like home with eg dining rooms on each floor.
- Enormous gardens, beautiful bistro, conservatory and summer patio make visiting with children, family and friends a real pleasure.
- Broad, well-planned, entertaining and inclusive activities schedule includes trips, tea dances and music
- Professionalism, enthusiasm and efficiency is evident in everything from care and activities to administration, front desk and catering.

- There simply is no better place for our mother.

The support and care afforded to my husband were second to none. I know how much he appreciated seeing the same carers regularly, this made my husband feel safe and secure. They always treated my husband with dignity, talked to him kindly and were always thoughtful of the best way to help him to be comfortable.

West Hall has a very welcoming and calm atmosphere and the care team were always keen to keep me updated on my husband. I can't thank them enough for all they have done to help my husband and me through his illness.

My mother, 98 and suffering from dementia has lived at West Hall for 29 months. Her room is spacious, well furnished with en-suite facilities and even boasts of a small fridge.

Visitors are always welcome including children and dogs you are never made to feel a nuisance. We always use the garden room and terrace for a welcome tea break and chat in our walks around the grounds and gardens. These are special being well spread out with lovely views and mum enjoys the fresh air on our strolls around. Praise must go to the carers who are hard working, extremely patient and very kind. Mum has also been well looked after by the team following several stays in hospital when extra care was required.

Paula Rifai
Paula RifaiJob Title:General ManagerJoined: 2025

I’m writing to introduce myself as the new General Manager of West Hall. I have had the privilege of working in the care sector for the past 35 years, and during this time, I have grown both professionally and personally. My journey started as a Carer, and through dedication and passion, I advanced to Senior Carer, Head of Care, Deputy Manager, and Acting Manager, before ultimately becoming a Registered Manager. For the past 26 years, I have been a Registered Manager with various care companies, where I have had the opportunity to achieve outstanding results, including two excellent outcomes and a "Good" rating with an Outstanding "Well Led" outcome in my previous care home.

Throughout my career, I’ve embraced every opportunity to enhance my skills and qualifications, ensuring that I meet the evolving standards and regulations required for this role. I joined Anchor in January 2023 as the Registered Care Home Manager for Moore Place, where I was thrilled to lead the team to achieve the top score of 10 on independent website carehome.co.uk. Our hard work paid off when Moore Place was ranked among the Top 20 Care Homes in the South East in 2024.

I am excited to take on the role of General Manager for West Hall. I am looking forward to working with the dedicated team here, getting to know the residents and their families, and leading West Hall to new heights. My vision is to work collaboratively with everyone, ensuring that we provide the highest standard of care and continue to thrive as a home.

Gary Dunn
Gary DunnJob Title:Deputy General ManagerJoined: 2025

It is my privilege to introduce myself as your new Deputy General Manager of West Hall. I have been working in the care sector for the past 10 years with my journey starting in my hometown of Swindon, where I worked in domiciliary care while maintaining the CQC Outstanding rating.

The wealth of experience and knowledge gained led me to continue with my passion to work within this sector. I moved to Surrey in 2019 and gained a position within Anchor as Team Leader at Moore Place. Throughout this time, I have seen many changes, working with a talented, and passionate team which we ensured Moore Place was recognised as a CQC “Good” rated care home in 2022 and Top 20 Care Home for the South East in 2024. For the past 12 months I have been in an Acting Deputy Manager role, successfully overseeing operational changes and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

This new chapter in my career at West Hall is an exciting opportunity, not only to work alongside such an outstanding team but also establishing a good rapport with residents and families alike.

I look forward to meeting you all and to continue the success of West Hall.

Sophie Waite
Sophie WaiteJob Title:Wellbeing ManagerJoined: 2025

I joined West Hall as the Wellbeing Manager in April 2025, and I’m thrilled to be part of such an incredible team. I graduated with a Drama degree in 2014 and began my career in care in February 2018. Since then, I’ve worked with a few different care providers, gaining valuable experience along the way. I truly believe I have the best job and have never looked back.

In addition to my experience, I commission the activities department for a new build care home, building close relationships with residents and their families, and ensuring the activity programme was designed to best support residents’ wellbeing and engagement.

During my time in care, I’ve been able to apply my creative skills to develop engaging and inclusive activity programmes. I’ve planned and organised a wide range of events and activities, including summer parties, Bonfire Night celebrations, archery sessions, Cognitive Stimulation Therapy sessions for residents living with dementia, and a unique ‘12 Weeks Around the World’ programme where residents virtually explore different countries through their culture, food, music, and traditions.

I’m passionate about delivering one-to-one activities and engagement to ensure we meet every resident’s needs, especially creating programmes tailored for those living with dementia. The most rewarding part of my role is building personal connections with residents and their families, which allows me to tailor activities that reflect the interests and preferences of everyone living in the home.

Mark Wren
Mark WrenJob Title:Services ManagerJoined: 2017

I am the Services Manager at Anchor West Hall and have been in this role since the beginning of January 2024, overseeing several departments which include catering, housekeeping, maintenance and activities. Supporting my colleagues and interacting with the residents here are the highlights of my day, and I couldn’t ask for a more picturesque location to work in; the manor house and grounds of West Hall are truly exquisite.

Overseeing the Hospitality and services of the home gives me the opportunity to work collaboratively with each head of department, ensuring that West Hall does not just meet the needs of the residents, but exceeds them every day by providing the level of care and service that our CQC rating of ‘Outstanding’ truly deserves.

Chola Chilufya
