Anchor’s West Hall is a unique and meticulously designed flagship care home. It was rated as Outstanding by the CQC for the second time in June 2019. Three of the five areas inspected of Caring, Responsive and Well-Led were rated Outstanding in this report.

The team are proud to be welcoming new residents to West Hall, on both a permanent basis and for respite care. West Hall provides outstanding residential care and for older people living with dementia. Priding itself on its dementia care, staff receive on-going training to ensure their approach reflects best practice.

West Hall comprises of an 18th century listed Manor House, with three purpose-built, contemporary lodge residences, all set in peaceful and impressive grounds. The Manor House has been extensively refurbished and provides a bistro, a private dining suite, activity areas and a library. West Hall is set in extensive grounds within the Surrey Green Belt for the enjoyment of residents and loved ones.

The three lodge residences have been specifically designed with the latest technology to provide lovely accommodation, including spa baths and spacious bedrooms. They have the benefit of environmentally friendly energy, including solar power and the use of organic material for insulation.

At West Hall, the team promote friendship and companionship. Encouraging a high quality of life is at the heart of the culture and ethos at West Hall. The highly trained and dedicated team approaches every day with professionalism and compassion, delivering a service that’s unique to each individual’s needs. Residents have detailed care plans which are unique to each individual and agreed upon in conjunction with loved ones to ensure health and care needs are constantly met.

My mother recently spent 6 weeks in respite care at West Hall, and we couldn't have been happier with the level of service provided. Without exception, the care staff treated my mother with respect and kindness and were also extremely welcoming and kind to us when we visited. The team leaders managed
the care plan with confidence and were fully aware of my mother's needs at all times.


The rooms are lovely and the facilities and activities are excellent. The food was of very good quality and teas, coffees and snacks were always being offered.


In addition, the client relationship management was excellent, professional with a personal touch, which made it very easy to deal with the administration and more practical issues.


Mum was very happy at West Hall and we would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone considering staying there.

I could not recommend West Hall more highly for its outstanding staff, facilities, care, activities and professionalism. Our mother is resident with moderately advanced dementia and we chose it because:


- The large community of residents means individuals are placed with people of similar age and

condition who they quickly make friends with.
- The whole staff genuinely care, everyone smiles!
- Bright, spotless, modern, spacious and welcoming communal areas and bedrooms are cleverly designed to make a large facility feel like home with eg dining rooms on each floor.
- Enormous gardens, beautiful bistro, conservatory and summer patio make visiting with children, family and friends a real pleasure.
- Broad, well-planned, entertaining and inclusive activities schedule includes trips, tea dances and music
- Professionalism, enthusiasm and efficiency is evident in everything from care and activities to administration, front desk and catering.
- There simply is no better place for our mother.

The support and care afforded to my husband were second to none. I know how much he appreciated seeing the same carers regularly, this made my husband feel safe and secure. They always treated my husband with dignity, talked to him kindly and were always thoughtful of the best way to help him to
be comfortable.


West Hall has a very welcoming and calm atmosphere and the care team were always keen to keep me updated on my husband. I can't thank them enough for all they have done to help my husband and me through his illness.

My mother, 98 and suffering from dementia has lived at West Hall for 29 months. Her room is spacious, well furnished with en-suite facilities and even boasts of a small fridge.
Visitors are always welcome including children and dogs you are never made to feel a nuisance. We always use the garden room
and terrace for a welcome tea break and chat in our walks around the grounds and gardens. These are special being well spread out with lovely views and mum enjoys the fresh air on our strolls around. Praise must go to the carers who are hard working, extremely patient and very kind. Mum has also been well looked after by the team following several stays in hospital when extra care was required.

My friend who is a resident and I invited four other friends to lunch at the bistro. We also used the library for a pre-lunch drink.


We had coffee afterwards in the lounge, The whole event was very enjoyable. All the staff were kind and caring and the food was very good.

The staff at West Hall have been tremendous and so much better than previous homes I have experienced. My mother has advanced Alzheimers and is currently going through a difficult period.

The staff are the jewel in the crown at West Hall. The level of care and consideration is excellent. My Father-in-law is treated with great respect. The buildings and grounds are superb and kept to a high standard. The activities and food are varied and well run. Unfortunately, the design of the lodges
and lack of air conditioning make the accommodation unbearably hot at times.

My mother has been at West Hall for the past year and a half. During that time she has been looked after by extremely friendly, knowledgeable and cheerful staff who have always been there to help when needed. The accommodation, food and facilities have been second to none, and the beautiful secure grounds
add an extra safe outdoor environment for the residents.


Everyone from reception to management help make the residents, relatives and visitors feel at home. Our grandchildren love visiting their Great-Grandmother and my sister and I can relax in the knowledge that our mother is getting the best care that a residential home can offer.

This is an excellent care home which I would recommend to anyone; the facilities are excellent: e.g. shower room, outdoor patio, and wi-fi connection, as are the fittings and furnishings. The home has also been designed to be very wheelchair friendly. The staff and management are also very friendly

My father had a very positive experience at West Hall. The food was always balanced and attractively served. There were plenty of daily activities, including outside entertainment, singers, music etc. The activities team are very hands on, and have good relationships with individual residents. The standard
of care was very respectful and everyone was very hard working, always well presented and their training was always of a high standard. Always compassionate, fun and aware of medical conditions. My father who has Alzheimer's benefitted in many ways from his precious time at West Hall.

My husband had to go into respite care in January 2016. The local care home was unsatisfactory as it made him aggressive (he was taken into care for that reason). We, the family found West Hall on-line and visited. The home understands Alzheimer's and Dementia. They have plenty of staff who believe
and carry out gentle guidance. Trips outside 5 times a week, visitors are welcome including children and pets. The grounds are lovely and open to both residents and visitors. He has been there and happy for 8 months.

I came for a fortnight respite care following abdominal surgery at a nearby hospital as there was no one to look after me at home. While the care was excellent, it was not made entirely clear to me that almost all the other residents were there because of dementia to a greater or lesser degree. Had
I known this, I would probably still have come because of urgent needs, but it did mean there was no 'companionship'. (I should add that the person for whom I myself am the carer was there too and it was more appropriate for her).

My elderly disabled father has been a resident at West Hall since Sept 15 and I am absolutely delighted with the care and attention that the West Hall team have given him. Nothing is too much trouble and they genuinely do care about his health and well-being. The facilities are modern, clean and spacious
with a traditional feel that is warm, comforting and cosy. My father is very comfortable at West Hall and rates the care team exceptionally high - he has complete confidence in their ability to look after his needs and often remarks on their friendly, warm approach to him.

Paula Rifai

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2025

I’m writing to introduce myself as the new General Manager of West Hall. I have had the privilege of working in the care sector for the past 35 years, and during this time, I have grown both professionally and personally. My journey started as a Carer, and through dedication and passion, I advanced to Senior Carer, Head of Care, Deputy Manager, and Acting Manager, before ultimately becoming a Registered Manager. For the past 26 years, I have been a Registered Manager with various care companies, where I have had the opportunity to achieve outstanding results, including two excellent outcomes and a "Good" rating with an Outstanding "Well Led" outcome in my previous care home.


Throughout my career, I’ve embraced every opportunity to enhance my skills and qualifications, ensuring that I meet the evolving standards and regulations required for this role. I joined Anchor in January 2023 as the Registered Care Home Manager for Moore Place, where I was thrilled to lead the team to achieve the top score of 10 on independent website carehome.co.uk. Our hard work paid off when Moore Place was ranked among the Top 20 Care Homes in the South East in 2024.


I am excited to take on the role of General Manager for West Hall. I am looking forward to working with the dedicated team here, getting to know the residents and their families, and leading West Hall to new heights. My vision is to work collaboratively with everyone, ensuring that we provide the highest standard of care and continue to thrive as a home.

Job Title: Deputy General Manager Joined: 2025

It is my privilege to introduce myself as your new Deputy General Manager of West Hall. I have been working in the care sector for the past 10 years with my journey starting in my hometown of Swindon, where I worked in domiciliary care while maintaining the CQC Outstanding rating.


The wealth of experience and knowledge gained led me to continue with my passion to work within this sector. I moved to Surrey in 2019 and gained a position within Anchor as Team Leader at Moore Place. Throughout this time, I have seen many changes, working with a talented, and passionate team which we ensured Moore Place was recognised as a CQC “Good” rated care home in 2022 and Top 20 Care Home for the South East in 2024. For the past 12 months I have been in an Acting Deputy Manager role, successfully overseeing operational changes and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.


This new chapter in my career at West Hall is an exciting opportunity, not only to work alongside such an outstanding team but also establishing a good rapport with residents and families alike.

Job Title: Wellbeing Manager Joined: 2025

I joined West Hall as the Wellbeing Manager in April 2025, and I’m thrilled to be part of such an incredible team. I graduated with a Drama degree in 2014 and began my career in care in February 2018. Since then, I’ve worked with a few different care providers, gaining valuable experience along the way. I truly believe I have the best job and have never looked back.


In addition to my experience, I commission the activities department for a new build care home, building close relationships with residents and their families, and ensuring the activity programme was designed to best support residents’ wellbeing and engagement.


During my time in care, I’ve been able to apply my creative skills to develop engaging and inclusive activity programmes. I’ve planned and organised a wide range of events and activities, including summer parties, Bonfire Night celebrations, archery sessions, Cognitive Stimulation Therapy sessions for residents living with dementia, and a unique ‘12 Weeks Around the World’ programme where residents virtually explore different countries through their culture, food, music, and traditions.


I’m passionate about delivering one-to-one activities and engagement to ensure we meet every resident’s needs, especially creating programmes tailored for those living with dementia. The most rewarding part of my role is building personal connections with residents and their families, which allows me to tailor activities that reflect the interests and preferences of everyone living in the home.

I started my employment with West hall in January this year 2025, I maintain the whole site including 4 buildings with approximately 40 bedrooms in each lodge 4 kitchens and 4 plantrooms, I take my job very seriously and have the residents and families best interests at heart, Myself and my team of 3 maintenance engineers really enjoy our day to day work and try to keep the whole site looking its best for our residents and visitors to enjoy and appreciate.


I have many years of experience as a maintenance manager, and I really do enjoy hearing the feed back from our residents and families about how nice West Hall is and I thrive off it wanting to do better and keeping west hall up to date and making west hall the best care home in our area.

I am the Services Manager at Anchor West Hall and have been in this role since the beginning of January 2024, overseeing several departments which include catering, housekeeping, maintenance and activities. Supporting my colleagues and interacting with the residents here are the highlights of my day, and I couldn’t ask for a more picturesque location to work in; the manor house and grounds of West Hall are truly exquisite.


Overseeing the Hospitality and services of the home gives me the opportunity to work collaboratively with each head of department, ensuring that West Hall does not just meet the needs of the residents, but exceeds them every day by providing the level of care and service that our CQC rating of ‘Outstanding’ truly deserves.
