Balmoral House is situated close to the centre of Scunthorpe in prestigious Old Brumby. All bedrooms are en suite, beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished. There is a choice of lounge and dining areas as well as a hairdressing salon and coffee bar. The home is centred around a delightful, private courtyard where residents can relax or help tend the plants and vegetables.

Their excellent team of dedicated, experienced carers treat everyone as an individual and work hard to ensure residents, their families and friends all feel at home.

Tailored activities and entertainment are offered throughout the week at Balmoral House and the freshly prepared, nutritious meals are home cooked. Special dietary requirements can also be catered for. Trips out by minibus are arranged regularly.

The purpose-built home, which opened in August 2012, predominately provides care for older people and those with needs relating to dementia.

The home is owned by Kapil Care Homes Ltd which also operates two other care homes in Scunthorpe.

Excellent care home. My mum was there. Staff looked after her for the time she was there. Couldn’t ask for better care. My mum sang the girl's praises. The home was spotless. The food was fab. My mum would like to thank the staff for the excellent care they provided, and our family are very grateful.

My grandad has been at Balmoral for a year now and I can honestly say that I couldn't ask for better care and consideration from all of the staff and management. Any needs that my grandad has, are dealt with immediately and with the dignity he deserves. All staff are helpful, welcoming and extremely
caring. I would definitely recommend Balmoral House to anyone looking for somewhere for their relatives, so they know that they will be cared for in the best way possible.

My mother has been a resident in Balmoral care home since September 2018 but unfortunately is now on end of life care. The understanding and care that all members of staff have shown to her are nothing but outstanding. Their dedication to delivering to all residents the quality of care and patience
required is unbelievable also, and the support that I have received is first-class. I have nothing but praise and admiration for all members of staff. Thank you.

I cannot recommend Balmoral House enough. They were able to accommodate my father-in-law at very short notice when we as a family were in crisis. They were very supportive and compassionate. Sadly he had a very short time living at Balmoral House but during that time we were very impressed by the quality
of the care and by all the staff who looked after him. The communication with us as his family was outstanding as was their advocacy for him with various health professionals. Their skills, experience, and knowledge were amazing. They did a great deal to reassure us after we had made the very difficult decision that he had to move into a care home. At all times it was clear that they regarded the Home as his home.

My Grandma moved to Balmoral House from another care home in Scunthorpe in order to get a better standard of care, we have not been disappointed. The management has been exceptional and has reassured both the family and grandma every step of the way, we have found all the care staff to be very attentive,
caring and friendly which has helped grandma settle in very quickly despite having dementia and needing extra support. Could not recommend Balmoral House strongly enough it's such a lovely place for my grandma to call home.

The staff are very helpful, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The staff go out of their way to help the family. The staff contact the family if there is a problem or just give the family a ring as a courtesy call. I can't thank the staff enough for all that they did for my mum always with a
smile and friendly kind words, laughing and joking. Compassionate when needed.

Balmoral House excepted my nan for respite after some time in hospital and unfortunately, Balmoral is where she lost her battle with Dementia and sadly passed away just a few weeks ago. I would just like to express how lovely the manager and her staff were, to not just my nan but to myself and my mum.
I couldn't have wished for better care and support from the manager and her team at Balmoral. We will be forever grateful for their care and support to us as a family in such difficult times.

Having been in hospital for ten days with septicaemia, I was taken to the departure lounge having been told carers were in place for me to go home. I was told none were available and I would have to go into respite care in Balmoral house. Having had the experience of another home in the past I truly
was not looking forward to it. On arriving they fixed me up with a lovely room, bright and pleasant, patio door. I was surprised, being isolated it was quite roomy for me to walk about with my frame. This I had to do having rheumatoid arthritis for twenty-five years. The staff, all of them friendly, efficient and always had a smile. The atmosphere was lovely. Couldn't fault any of them. Food was good, always willing to please. I have been well looked after. Thank you. You have restored my confidence in the care system.

The staff have been excellent with my grandad since moving in and shown a real interest in getting to know more about him. He has settled in very well after losing his wife recently and I am glad he’s in a safe environment. The ability to visit my grandad is great and not limited to a small window of
time. I would like to thank everyone at the care home for their continued support and care of my grandad.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.446)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.446) out of 10 for Balmoral House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.979 for Balmoral House is calculated as follows: ( (93 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.979
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.467 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Balmoral House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.667
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
