I am a regular visitor of Brook House nursing home. I have noticed staff speaking in a foreign language in the lounge, in front of residents. The food is not very appealing. Rooms are generally good. Good facilities too.

This is a wonderful facility. The staff are very friendly and the residents are very well looked after. The home is always clean and the quality of the food is very good. Staff treat the residents very well and are warm and caring. There are also lovely gardens that the residents can walk around when
the weather is fine.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.344)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.344) out of 10 for Brook House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.519 for Brook House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (95 Excellents x 5) + (47 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 156 Ratings = 4.519
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brook House Nursing Home is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I began my career in 2012 as a bank night care assistant in a residential dementia home, where I quickly discovered a true passion for dementia care. This led me to become the home’s Dementia Trainer, a role I found incredibly rewarding, supporting others to better understand and care for those living with dementia.

I progressed through various roles within the same home, eventually becoming the Registered Home Manager. Since 2015, I’ve had the privilege of managing both care and nursing homes in a range of leadership positions.

Today, I’m proud to be the Home Manager of Brook House in New Malden. After several years as a Peripatetic Manager, moving between services to provide support where needed, it’s a pleasure to now settle and truly call this place home, not only my workplace.

My team and I warmly welcome you to Brook House in New Malden. We are committed to delivering consistently high-quality, person-centred care and to building strong, meaningful connections within our local community.

Job Title: Team Leader and Dementia Champion Joined: 2019

I am a Team Leader and Brook House’s Dementia Champion. I enjoy working alongside a great team of people who take time in their roles to offer a Person-Centred approach to Care and work closely with our residents to ensure they live in a Happy, Safe and Comfortable home.

I have always had a keen interest in Dementia and Brain Injury after my Brain Tumor was operated on and successfully removed in 2002. I feel this has brought me a natural empathy and understanding of people and their symptoms and side effects, and l feel this helps me in my role as Dementia Champion. I joined The Future Care Group in 2019 as l could see the company has a good reputation for Dementia Care and strive to improve their Quality of Care, along with their Core Care Values, which are promoted and lived every day within their homes.
