My wife and I are very pleased with the care of our friend and the patience and kindness shown to a person who needs 24-hour care and is quite demanding to look after. He can be very aggressive and doesn't want to sit still very long. As his memory is poor, he soon forgets being fed or taken to the
toilet and wants everything 'now'! We do not believe we could get much better care for him anywhere.

My mother was admitted to Brook House after discharge from hospital under an End of Life Plan. During her short stay until her passing, she was treated with dignity, respect, care and warmth. The staff communicated in every way with family members taking time (and great sensitivity) to keep us informed
as to my mother's condition and possible outcome. I cannot thank all the staff enough for making my mother's passing as calm, gentle and pain-free as possible. Many thanks.

During our mother's long stay at Brook House Nursing Home, we had peace of mind knowing she was in a safe and caring environment. Sadly she passed away peacefully after a long slow illness. The staff were wonderful, very kind and always ensured our mother was treated with dignity and respect during
her final days. Nothing was too much to ask for - our requests were always addressed - they would go the extra mile.
The staff are friendly and approachable.
We know our mother had happy times at Brook House, it was her home. The many lovely parties and entertainment, as well as activities, helped brighten the lives for everyone.
We could not have wished for a better place.
Thank you.

My Mother recently joined Brook House. We have had regular contact with the 2 male nurses who are in charge of my Mother's care. Communication is excellent, our questions and concerns are promptly dealt with in a sensitive way. The nurses have an extremely high level of understanding in relation to
Dementia/Alzheimer's and my Mother's needs. This understanding, dedication and compassionate approach is reflected in the work of the carers and the ethos of the home.

The nurses and carers and supporting ancillary (and admin) at Brook House are caring, kind and offer a high standard of care.
As my mother has high dependency needs, sadly, although with their best standards offered, the carers and nurses are often 'stretched'. The activities, for when my mother could
join in were and remain good. I believe Brook House, for my mother's needs, is the best for her and am satisfied she is in the right nursing home.

I continue to be delighted with the care and attention that mum receives at Brook House Nursing Home. The genuine warmth and quality of care she receives from the whole team is incredible. Their knowledge of mums needs, challenges and personality is impressive and provides us with great comfort that
she is looked after in a very personal way. She is included in all the social activities as far as possible and we are always made to feel extremely welcome by the staff whenever we visit. The whole atmosphere is one of genuine concern and support for the needs of the residents and of their wellbeing. Brook House Nursing Home is a great example of how care should be delivered, despite the varied & demanding challenges of the residents.

Overall standard of care is good. Generally, I am treated with dignity and respect. I would like to spend more time in the pleasant garden, weather permitting, or sit on the patio in the summer.
The cleanliness of the home is excellent, the menu has lots of choice and the food is well presented and
of a high standard.
Self-funding entirely so is extremely expensive without any benefits from the local authority or NHS.

I always feel welcome when I visit my dad. He is very well looked after. There are often activities going on in the room where dad sits and, although he doesn't join in, he is able to observe what is going on. I am happy that his key-worker has taken the trouble to find out more about what my dad likes
and dislikes, to help make his day more interesting.

The most important aspect of the care home is the staff. My mother finds nearly all of them kind. She is treated with dignity and her wishes respected. Although she is completely deaf and chair bound, she is sensitive to the atmosphere and people around her which she finds caring and safe. He great
delight is any animal visitors - the home puts on farm visits and some of the staff go out of their way to bring any visiting dog to her to say hello! She is not forced into activities she doesn't want to do, but staff regularly check up on her in her room.

My dad came to Brook House last year and has been very well cared for from the day he arrived. Staff have done well to get to know is character and treat him as an individual including his eccentricities. The staff here have gone the extra mile by allowing my dad to participate as if he were "still
employed" which gives dad a sense of purpose. Also, I've been here when Brooke House put on special events. The latest for valentines day where my dad loved singing all the old tunes with a very talented opera singer.

My father is currently at Brook House and I've been thoroughly impressed with the level of care given. The staff are fantastic. The manager is lovely. The nurses are very good and really caring. They really understand my father's condition and are proactive in making life as comfortable as possible.
The care assistants are all lovely and are genuinely very nice to all patients. And they have a good social/events lead who is really good at bringing energy and love to the residents.

The staff are caring, kind and have a real rapport with the clients in their care. My mother is well looked after and all her needs are met. The food is of the highest quality. The staff are quick to respond to my mothers needs when they arise. I am confident that she is well looked after in my absence.
After running many homes Brook House was our first choice. In the 10 months my mother has been in their care we have no concerns.

I strongly recommend Brook House because mum has been in the nursing home for almost 3 years. I feel comfortable when going on holidays and not being able to come in, that she is well looked after! The staff are knowledgeable, caring and supportive to residents and as well as relatives. Nothing is too
much trouble, they are treated with care and dignity. There are regular events which are for everyone (residents, family and friends). I come round every day so I can say that the home is excellent in every point of view. Thank you , continue your excellent job!!!

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.328)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.328) out of 10 for Little Brook House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.553 for Little Brook House is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.553
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Brook House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
