This is the third care home my husband has been in and by far the best There is a very calm and caring atmosphere here and the carers have been very patient and sweet. It is very clear who is in charge and I am always kept informed about my husband's care. The team here should be very proud of the
high standard of care they achieve.

Since my Mother moved to Brook House in September 2016 I have been delighted with the standard of care she receives. The home is clean and bright, Mum has a lovely room and is always treated with respect and dignity. The staff are dedicated and treat Mum with care and kindness at all times. I feel totally
reassured that Mum is safe and well looked after.

Professional support and care given by the permanent staff to the residents are excellent. They show dignity, respect and courtesy to both residents and relatives and have a great understanding of the difficulties associated with dementia.

I visit my grandma at Brook House Nursing Home. The staff always greet you and there is a warm and friendly atmosphere at the home.
The building is light airy and the rooms are fresh and clean. My grandma has her own en-suite shower and toilet. She can no longer wash and dress herself, but the staff
make sure her hair is neat and tidy and her clothes are always coordinated perhaps little things but so important when respecting a persons dignity. The staff are extremely skilled and our grandma is very well looked after at Brook House.

Excellent care, helpful staff and very clean and tidy. My wife has been a resident for 4 years and the care is as good as it was in the beginning. One particularly excellent thing is the way activities are put in place.

My grandad had been rotting in hospital with delirium for months and was deteriorating badly.
Since he moved to Brook House we have seen a remarkable improvement and he is very nearly back to his best.
The staff are amazing and have been throughout not just to him but to the whole family.
He should
be ready to go home soon and his biggest worry is that he will miss the staff!
Brook House deserve huge credit and I can't thank them enough, I would certainly recommend to anyone.

I find the care home excellent. The staff are very caring and friendly. My husband is well looked after. He has always been funny with his personal cleanliness and the staff work hard to assist him in this.
I feel the meals could be more varied and a variety of vegetables would be welcome.
The care
home is very comfortable and welcoming to visitors.

My mother was a resident of Brook House earlier this year. During this time the home provided a friendly, caring, warm and clean environment where residents were looked after and treated with respect and kindness. Individual rooms were very pleasant and staff were always welcoming and cheerful. The
nurses were knowledgeable and responded well to requests and enquiries. Social events were held regularly for residents, and relatives/friends were always invited to attend these.

Mum has lived at Brook House for nearly 4 years and although some of the staff have changed, the attitudes remain the same.

Staff always want to help residents, even some of those who have very challenging conditions (typically due to dementia) and are willing to spend time with those who need

extra help.

The home also organises a lot of activities for residents, who are free to choose which ones they join in.

From the beginning when my husband was sent from the hospital to Brook House Nursing Home, the staff have been brilliant. My husband was very bad with him hitting out, kicking, punching and shouting abuse at the staff, this is because he has delirium. They had to put up with a lot but know it wasn't
really his fault. I couldn't have coped with it if he had come home. The food must be better as he lost a lot of weight when he was in the hospital.

I have nothing but good things to say about Brook House Nursing Home. Since my father has been a resident I have found all of the staff to be polite, friendly and very helpful. We are always kept well informed as to what is going on and how my dad is doing. My dad is very well looked after and he is
very happy with his care. I could not have wished for him to be in a better home and would highly recommend Brook House to anyone looking for a great, friendly care home.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.328)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.328) out of 10 for Little Brook House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.553 for Little Brook House is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.553
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Brook House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
