Mum seems happy and her needs are adequately taken care of.
The food for lunch seems to lack variety but the food that is served is of good quality.

My father who has severe dementia and was also recently diagnosed with terminal cancer has been at Brook House Nursing Home for almost 5 years. I really could not recommend highly enough how good this care home is to anyone else in the difficult decision of looking for a home for their loved one. All
the staff at Brook House Nursing Home are absolutely amazing and show such care, compassion and love to all the residents. They are always looking at ways to entertain and engage the residents and provide a safe and open and inclusive environment and myself and all my family are always made to feel so welcome when we visit. The home is also very well maintained and kept clean and the garden area is always really well looked after, but most importantly I really do feel my father feels safe here and is treated with dignity and loved by all the staff that take care of him.

Mum had a lovely stay here. Her mental health has stayed the same since she was admitted. Very friendly and professional. Very nice party for the Jubilee. Mum is treated with respect and dignity. I feel like some residents could be taken for a walk maybe or a trip out.

My dad is very well cared for and looked after by the home. He is comfortable in his room. The home is well managed and if I have any concerns, I know I can raise this with the manager. He listens and explains things well. Would recommend this home to another family.

My husband has advanced dementia, he has been in Brook House Nursing Home for four years. I have nothing but praise for the care he has received whilst a resident there, the staff are wonderful and the care, love and respect they show him is second to none. My daughters and I are so grateful to all
the staff at Brook House Nursing Home for all their hard work at all times, especially during the pandemic. The home is well run and always welcoming and I know my husband is happy there and feels safe.

My father has only been a resident for a few weeks and right from the start, he has been made to feel welcome and secure. He has settled in well, and the staff have taken steps to get to know him - his background and what he enjoys. I only live down the road and the staff have been very accommodating
in allowing me to visit him daily from the outside. There is a lovely atmosphere in the home with lots of decorations and beautiful mottos/mission statements. It is a great relief to me, to know that he is in good hands.

During the period that my husband resided at Brook House, he was really well cared for. It gave the family great comfort and the staff were outstanding. The accommodation was very well designed for people with Alzheimer's. The communication between family and staff was excellent and we were always made
to feel like we were part of an extended family. The food was excellent and provided nutrition for my husband who had difficulty eating. During the difficult time of Covid 19, he was looked after well and we are unable to visit. Sadly he passed away due to Alzheimers and the staff communicated with us the whole time and sat with him to the end. We knew and had peace of mind about the great loving care he received. We would like to thank Brook House staff for their excellent care while my husband was there, it gave us great comfort that his needs were met at all times.

Having reviewed Brook House earlier this year when Mum moved in, I felt compelled to comment again during the Covid 19 pandemic. Mum was already treated with kindness and compassion since moving in, but the quality of care both she and we as a worried family, have received during this unprecedented
time, has been exemplary. Despite us missing seeing Mum, I have felt nothing but confidence in the management and staff. They have managed the situation, maintained standards and ensured relationships are maintained.
Reply from Aileen Nimmo, Sales & Marketing at Little Brook HouseIt is always so nice to read a review when a family shares that they feel the teams care is exemplary. These have been difficult times indeed, and it is so wonderful to read you feel the team at Brook have maintained standards and enabled our residents and their families to remain in touch. Thank you.

Mum went to this home a year ago, she was very ill when she was admitted, we moved her from a terrible home to here. She has flourished since arriving. Going from bedridden to walking and moving with a frame. Could not wish for better care. However much we paid. She takes part in lots of activities
despite having severe dementia. Before Covid-19 they took her on regular weekly trips. Although she is locked down the home is very helpfully letting us video call her using their phones. She has been tested for Covid-19 and is clear. I cannot thank them enough for all they have done for Mum. When she won't eat, they always make her something she will eat. She is 90 and is still enjoying herself thanks to them.

I am so overwhelmed by the dedication, love, care from the manger and her staff at the home.
They continue to be not plodding along with this virus, they are charging forward keeping us updated through Skype, calls, pictures and a great atmosphere.
What more could we ask for, so happy to have someone
I care about looked after by the manager and her wonderful team.

I realised that Brook House Nursing Home would be the perfect one for my husband after my first meeting with the deputy manager. I knew immediately that my husband would be cared for appropriately for his needs. She cares about residents as well as her staff and as a result, works long and hard on their
behalf.

My mum came to the home nearly 3 months ago. I feel she has settled very well with support from the staff. The home has got to know my mum and her needs and are able to support her when she needs reassurance. I feel the manager is very approachable and very friendly. Overall I am very happy that my
mum lives here at Brook House.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.328)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.328) out of 10 for Little Brook House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.553 for Little Brook House is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.553
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Brook House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
