The whole staff, but particularly the deputy manager + nursing staff have been brilliant. Their care and knowledge has been exceptional, not only directly with my brother but with us as relatives. They have all always been welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The whole home is been a gift in my brother's last year of life.

My mother was only in Brook House for 4 weeks but she was well cared for.
The reception staff were very welcoming and remembered our names which made the experience feel much more personal.

Mum couldn't eat while there but the food always looked good.

Review from Robin B (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 14 March 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mother-in-law has been a resident for nearly four years since a fall that fractured her hip. Her dementia is slowly progressing and she is now mid stage. She has been very well cared for by the staff who are very good and patient with her. I would recommend this as a great place with plenty of activities and entertainment which keep all the residents engaged. From the manager down everyone is approachable and happy to help in any way.

Overall Experience
My mother started her residency in August 2023. All of the staff I have interacted with are helpful and caring. This especially applies to the nurses and reception staff who I have most interaction with.
The home, itself, appears clean however there are clearly signs that the property requires some maintenance. Other relatives of residents have mentioned that the furniture in some rooms is in poor condition and requires replacing but that is not my experience with my mother.
I recently attended a meeting with the new manager and senior nurse who went through plans for improvements to the property and general care of residents in terms of activities, food etc. It all sounded positive and time will tell if those plans are put in place.

I have no doubts that improvements can be made but that being said, my mother is treated well and looked after properly. The only issues have been with occasional friction with other residents which is difficult to manage in that type of environment.

Overall Experience

My mother moved into Brook House Nursing Home a few months ago and we have been really pleased and grateful for the quality of care she has received from the whole team. It was a stressful transition for my mother and she continues to struggle from time to time. The staff have handled this very professionally and with compassion, which has been really appreciated. The home is clean and well-maintained, which is another positive aspect. There are ancillary services such as hairdressing available, as well as dedicated staff who manage daily activities, including outings. Communication with relatives is excellent. Staff are very accessible and are always prompt with their responses. Overall, the home and staff give you a great deal of confidence that your loved one is being well looked after and that has been reflected in all our dealings with them. It really does give you peace of mind for what is always a worrying process. I would highly recommend Brook House to everyone.

My mother was first introduced to Brook House Nursing Home in early 2020 during the covid period. She was made to feel welcome and safe even in lockdown where residents and loved ones had a challenging time, including the marvellous staff. The Alzheimer’s disease had taken her before she became a resident and Brook House took time to comfort her and make her feel comfortable and special. The staff and especially her one-to-one carer cared for her in the most loving way, and brightened up what was a very challenging time for her.

The whole family would like to say a big thank you to the whole Brook House team for the love and affection shown to my mother right up to the day she left us.
