Mum has just passed away, at the age of 103 years young.
Mum has been a resident at Dean Wood for over seven years.
She always praised the staff for being very kind and caring, she loved the food and she really loved the entertainment.
I also would like to say a very big "THANK YOU" to all
the girls and boys (Staff) for helping me and Mum through the last few days of Mums life, with true professionalism , kindness and affection.
So again THANK YOU.

Mum was a resident in Dean Wood for just over four years. I have nothing but praise for the way staff looked after her, especially in her final few weeks. The home was always clean and tidy, mum was always dressed well and there was a good choice of food at meal times. Staff were caring, considerate
and thoughtful always putting mums needs first. I was always kept up-to-date with her nursing care regarding medications and care. In mums final few weeks at Dean Wood her health declined but she was always treated with such dignity and respect.

Whenever family visited we were all made to feel welcome, never felt like we were in the way, everyone would say hello and chat to us. Always greeted with a warm friendly welcome at reception.

Our family cannot thank Dean Wood enough for the quality of care and support given by all members of staff, and we feel very lucky that mum had four years of being part of the 'Dean Wood' family. We really cannot recommend you enough.

After a difficult time at the Hospital & pressure to find a Care Home at short notice for my Mother, we have been delighted to find Dean Wood, the home is lovely, clean and spacious my Mum loves the decoration & choice of communal spaces.

The staff have all been exeptional warm, friendly and welcoming

to my Mum and also the rest of the family, appreciating it is a difficult transition for everyone. What has really impressed me is that after only 2 weeks they have really got to know Mum & her likes and dislikes. As a result she is thriving and joining in many activities and making friends, the attention to details & preservation of dignity is great her hair, clothes and personal care are dealt with professionally and efficiently and communication with Mum is excellent.

My experience so far has greatly exceeded my expectations and my Mum is looking forward to using the roof terrace in the Spring / Summer with its spectacular views accross the Downs & Sea.

Dad stayed at Dean Wood for just over two years on the Clarence floor. We could not have asked for a more thoughtful and caring group of people to care for him over that time.

The staff were very attentive to his changing needs over that time. He grew more more fragile and at every step the staff

moved swiftly and professionally to ensure he was safe and happy.

The afternoon events were always a highlight so it was 'Not Unusal' to find Tom Jones songs lilting out from the common room, or to see magicians making things appear and disappear or groups of happy children bonding with the residents!

The ever-present nurses and the doctor were always on hand to ensure that the medication was appropriate, available and reliably administered for his developing conditions.

There was always a smiling face at reception to welcome us and other visitors in, come rain or shine.

We whole heartedly recommend Dean Wood and all its staff including managers, administration, reception, nurses, carers

Mum is settled in and has made many friends, she enjoys the activities and has amazing views over hills down to the sea from her modern, spacious bedroom with it's large, private ensuite. She has fun with the carers and most importantly, she (and we) trust the carers to look after Mum. We know she is
safe and being well looked after and she has good fun with the lovely carers who always seem to be happy and enjoying their work.

The standard of care for my father while he was resident in Dean Wood was exceptional, from the carers, nurses, catering staff, housekeeping, reception and everyone at the home - specifically the sensitivity both to dad and to us in his last days were very much appreciated. We are so grateful for all

Mum moved to Dean Wood in June 2025, and although her time there before she sadly passed away in August was much shorter than we expected, we were so glad we had made the move to Dean Wood in time. The admission process was seamless and Mum settled quickly onto Clarence floor. The location, facilities
and surroundings there with the rooftop terrace and cafe offering quiet spaces where we could sit with Mum or take some time out for ourselves are unique and essential. When Mum's health declined quickly, the medical staff kept us informed at all stages helping us to prepare for the final weeks prior to Mum passing away. The end of life care was simply outstanding, with Mum being treated with the utmost dignity and respect and I cannot put into words just how important that was to us as a family. We take great comfort knowing our beloved Mum was looked after by such an amazing and passionate team that treats every resident as an individual. We shall be forever grateful to you all.

My late Dad was a resident at Dean Wood Care Home for 3 happy years, I am so glad that we chose this home.
My Dad took a while to settle in at the beginning but was supported and reassured by really good staff who were experienced and understanding.
He was cared for by the same manager, care staff
and activity team the whole time which has meant he and his family were able to build trusting relationships with them. They have not only supported my Dad but us as a family.
We have spent many happy visits enjoying the facilities like the gardens, terrace and the cafe, enabling us to make positive memories at
the end of his life.
As he neared the last weeks of his 98 year old life and became weaker, he was able to be moved to the nursing floor, a choice that would not have been possible in another home. The 3 floor set up here is such a good idea, knowing that if your relative's needs change you don't have to think about them moving to a new home.
We really could not have asked for more.:

I cannot speak higher of Dean Wood. My Grandma was admitted there in February and has only flourished. After a tough 6 months in and out of hospital, we weren't sure she would make it to Easter but now we are planning for Christmas!

The surroundings are great but it is the staff who make this home. My Dad was living there for a few years and the care was truly amazing. Dad loved the staff and, although maybe just another resident, I think the staff loved Dad.

When we were looking for care homes we only had a tour of Dean Wood because once

we had seen it we knew it was going to be the right place for him - everyone we met really did have his best interests at heart, the building had great facilities and it was really clean. And the sea view is amazing!

I'd like to particularly mention two staff members in particular for making my father-in-law so welcome and part of the community.

I am very impressed by Dean Wood. All the staff are supportive, friendly and professional. My stepfather has been at Dean Wood for almost a year, and I have never yet come across anyone unhelpful. Also the environment is very comfortable, and feels like home. It would be lovely if there were to be a
garden that my stepfather could get to on his own (the roof garden is amazing but requires a lift to get to) but it is great to be able to take him to the roof garden and self-service cafe when I visit.

When my brother in law made the decision to leave his flat we were anxious that he find the right place in his advancing years. He needed support with care but wanted to retain some independence. In Dean Wood I feel he has achieved that. He is happy, content, very much enjoys the food and has made good
friends. He enjoys the activities but can also spend time to be independent if he wishes. I feel the staff there whatever their role have the best interests of the residents at heart and family is important and part of the care. Communication is vital and it is always possible to contact the right member of staff if necessary. I feel the very positive experience to date will continue in the future.

Dad spent 3.5 years at Dean Wood. Dad's needs were sometimes complex which required an immense amount of patience, empathy and thoughtful care. The staff are consistently exemplary. Cheerful, extremely caring, creative in how they care, supportive and they are very perceptive at knowing the type of
care which is required and when it is needed, depending on the resident's circumstances. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
They were very engaged with Dad and it was clear they were very fond of him. By being so engaged and "invested" in Dad they knew what made Dad tick and knew what Dad needed even if he was unable to express it. This is caring at it's best and it is inspiring to witness it.
His last few weeks were dignified and full of the utmost best care. DW's updates towards the end were timely which ensured we were present at the end which meant everything to us. Five stars and recommended without hesitation. Dean Wood, for looking after Dad so well, we cannot thank you enough.

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 32 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
