Dean Wood warmly welcome those in need of residential and nursing care, including people living with dementia or Parkinson’s.

Dean Wood is a modern, purpose-built care facility with fabulous panoramic sea views, state of the art accommodation and facilities. There's a dedicated dementia unit, as well as sensory gardens, reminiscence activity areas and memory boxes, that have all been carefully designed to help those with cognitive issues.

Residents have access to a private terrace and rooftop café where they can enjoy views out to the sea.

As an enhanced service to residents, twice-weekly GP visits are conducted at Dean Wood Care Home, enabling residents to receive regular, personalised medical reviews as part of the approach to person-centred care.

Dean Wood employs professional chefs, who are committed to good health and nutrition. They provide a varied menu of tasty food which residents can choose to enjoy in privacy or socialising with others.

Entertainment and promoting a stimulating lifestyle were in mind when this home was designed.

My aunt transferred to this home from another Bupa home.
I can't say enough good things about this home.
My aunt has Alzheimer's and the move was quite seamless for her.
Her room is lovely, decorated in warm tones.
The whole home is a welcoming place with a warm feel.
It's spotless.
The staff
have been great and have made my aunt happy.
Management has been supportive of me as LPA and living far away in Canada.
A great place!

The process was made simple and clear by the receptionist who showed us around and another member of staff who arranged for my aunt's stay. Two members of staff in residential (plus all the others) were so kind and helpful to me and my aunt. Auntie was sad to leave but I was extremely happy and very
confident with the care she was given.

My aunt has been at Deanwood for 3 months. She is in a more stable environment, doesn't seem as confused, likes the food and the staff. The staff seem to give her attention and care. The staff are conscientious, caring and kind. They are respectful of the elderly and show that respect in how they manage
care.
Deanwood is 'very' clean, modern and well maintained to me.
Yet I think there is always room for improvement in any organization.

I recently spent a fortnight in respite care. At the initial interview with the welcoming, efficient and empathetic Unit Manager, she told me that Dean Wood aims to provide a home from home - and it succeeds. The staff are friendly, cheerful, capable and endlessly willing. The rooms are generously
sized and well furnished. The diet is varied and healthy, the food well-cooked, plenteous and tasty. The facilities are spacious: a large lounge/dining-room; a smaller lounge and separate dining-room and The Seaview Café, a large, multi-purpose room, opening out onto a grand sun terrace, with 270 degree views across open pastureland to the sea.
Residents are encouraged, if they wish, to take part in a varied programme of activities and events, and make use of equipment like board games and jigsaw puzzles. The well-being and dignity of residents are of paramount concern. Security is complete but unobtrusive.
I should be very happy, if necessary, to return.

Viewed six other homes before deciding on Dean Wood.


Mum was happy and settled in straight away. This was a big relief for the family that she was safe and contented. For us, over the whole period, the staff were outstanding, friendly and very professional. This place must surely be one of the best

care homes in the UK. Dean Wood is a very modern, newish care home with exceptional staff. We are so so glad we found such a place for mum

I have been in Dean Wood Care Home for almost a month. I looked at other care homes as I needed the nursing care but this home is outstanding compared to others I viewed.
I am only 60 but need ongoing nursing care which Dean Wood provide! This home on my first impression was it felt more like walking
into a hotel than a nursing home. The layout and facilities makes it feel different from the others. Staff are brilliant and always there to help where ever and whenever it's needed. The rooms are comfortable. Thank you, Dean Wood for helping me to settle in.

My mother passed away on the 6th of November, the staff were absolutely wonderful, I cannot praise them enough, they were very professional, very caring and dedicated to their profession. I cannot put enough thanks in writing to you about the care she received and love they showed her the time she had
left at Dean Wood, once again thank you, this made my memories of her last days more stress-free.

My mother received a fantastic standard of care.
All the staff were kind and attentive. They helped her and her family through her final month.

My sister spent respite care at Dean Wood Care Home following illness, I visited her regularly and was very impressed with the wonderful care she received, she was very well cared for and the staff were extremely kind and pleasant and cheerful, she was full of praise of them and still is of her treatment
there. Not just the nursing care but all the staff were so kind.

Poor staffing, often easy to see understaffed. Staff don't have time to really care for anyone.
In my 3 years of residence, only 2 outings have been arranged.
Increased availability of hot/cold drinks would be appreciated.
