My Mum spent five and a half very happy years at Argentum, she particularly benefitted from the friendly atmosphere in the spacious newly built care home. The management were very good at amending the care package for Mum as her needs changed over time. All of the staff were always very friendly and
receptive to any input from me. We were always kept informed of everything and involved in any decisions concerning Mum. It was a very good joint decision for Mum to move to and spend her remaining quality time at Argentum.

My mother has been a resident at Argentum Lodge for six years. The home has very nice rooms with ensuite facilities. The rooms and the whole home are kept very clean. The staff are friendly, attentive and caring. The food is plentiful, well cooked and of good quality. Mum is very happy residing in Argentum
Lodge and has no wish to live anywhere else.

My mother entered Argentum Lodge in June 2020. Having struggled through the Lockdown we reluctantly decided as a family it was time she needed more care.
We were, of course, unable to visit any care home to view them but it was on recommendation from two other people I rang Argentum who were very helpful
and willing to take Mum and she would have to isolate in her room for two weeks. It was extremely hard not to see her but we rang regularly and with the help from staff were able to speak to Mum on the phone. It was wonderful when we were able to visit in a room with a glass screen accessed from outside and we can have a weekly visit. The staff are always very helpful and doing a great job in keeping our loved ones safe during this very trying time.

Making the decision to put a loved one into a care home is so very emotional and hard, but with Argentum Lodge we knew it was the right decision. They made my grandpa and myself feel at ease and at home straight away. They took all the anxiety away.
My grandpa is happy every time I see him, he's relaxed
and calm.
It's been a difficult year for so many people but I know that Argentum Lodge staff have kept my grandpa safe, well and happy, especially as we have not been able to visit him as often as we used to and in the same way. They have been his family.
The new visitors room is fabulous, it means I get to see and hear my grandpa, knowing that I will not pass anything onto him. It's a shame that there aren't more rooms like it in other care homes.

I have scored excellent on all categories because myself and my wife are absolutely astounded that in the current climate of Covid 19 my sister in law/wife's sister has recieved such devotion and care.
It's such a relief for us that we can confidently leave after each visit and know that the care our
relative has is as good as we could want for ourselves.
You can't beat that.

The very skilled staff at Argentum treat the residents like their own family. Mum spent two years there where they also looked after my dad who visited her every day, making him cups of tea and making time to have a chat. The staff ensure the residents keep their dignity and they really do form a bond
with everyone. Mum unfortunately passed away in February. Dad and I are looking forward to popping in to see all the lovely carers after lockdown (Hope you're all well).

Argentum Lodge looked after my father for his end of life care; they were constantly professional.
During the Covid lockdown, no visitors were allowed, I and my family received regular updates about Dads condition from both management and nurses.
I spoke to Dad a lot, and he told me how well he was
being looked after.
I cannot thank them enough for making a very hard time easier for me.

My husband has been in three care homes. Argentum Lodge is by far the best home and I am extremely happy that my daughter found it. My husband's first home asked that he should leave and we only had two weeks to find a care home. The second home seemed good but the care deteriorated after three years
and I had to move him to Argentum Lodge.

My husband entered Argentum Lodge in November 2017 and has never asked to be taken home. That to me proves how good the care is in the home. All members of staff speak to him and acknowledge him as a person. He has sadly become aggressive and difficult when receiving his personal care and needs three
carers to deal with him sometimes. I feel so sad at his behaviour but the carers explain it's where he is with his long term illness and are so caring. The office staff are helpful and the activities continue to delight myself and family. The purpose-built building is perfect for a home - all rooms the same, the garden is ideal to walk my husband around as he can no longer walk very far. As his wife, I am informed of any problems and if I am away and cannot do my daily visit I can phone and be advised how he is. Such a comfort.

I have found Argentum Lodge very satisfactory so far. It's very clean, smells fresh and the staff are always kind and helpful with nothing being too much trouble.
The food is of a good standard and I am generally pleased with the care my dad is receiving there.

My wife of 60 years, showed memory problems in 2000, developed Epilepsy in 2001 and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2004. Whilst her condition gradually deteriorated, with the help of family and friends and use of daycare and respite breaks, I was able to keep her at home until 2013. She, unfortunately,
as the result of a fit, broke her hip and I had to let her go into full-time care. At the time, Argentum Lodge opened, my wife became their first resident in June 2013. She has been well looked after over the last 6 years by a good group of carers and nurses who now look after 50 residents. Sadly, my wife has declined to the point that she is now immobile, unable to communicate and can do nothing for herself. I spend several hours in with my wife most days and find Argentum to be clean and of a good atmosphere with helpful staff. On the basis of my last six years of experience, I would recommend that any potential residents consider Argentum.

Since my partner of 35 years had to go to live in Argentum Lodge, I have appreciated the calm, settled and friendly atmosphere. The staff all treat the residents and relatives with kindness and respect. The manager provides a very high level of good quality care. Staff are carefully appointed and there
seems to be good ongoing training. Everybody does their best to make life the best it can be in what are always sad circumstances.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.744) out of 10 for Argentum Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 43 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.744 for Argentum Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (416 Excellents x 5) + (65 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 500 Ratings = 4.744
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Argentum Lodge Care Home is based on 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2, which has been reached with 42 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
