Argentum Lodge have been fantastic, supporting my mum who has advanced dementia. They helped her settle and now she is enjoying activities and has a life with some joy and pleasure which she did not have in her own home. Communication from the team is excellent at all times. The staff are friendly and
go the extra mile to keep me informed of Mum's progress.

All the staff and management have been amazing, thoughtful and caring.
The rooms are always clean and fresh.
There is a real family atmosphere from carers and residents.
A happiness that just makes you smile when you walk through the door.
I couldn't wish for Mum to be in a better place.

Mum has been in Argentum for a year now. Her mental state and general health have improved during this time.
The carers are all friendly and go out of their way to make us all feel welcome.
As soon as you walk in, you notice the friendly and calm atmosphere.
The home is very clean. All of the
staff, including maintenance, reception and housekeeping are efficient and part of the ‘family’.
The staff are valued.
The management is very helpful and is always looking for ways to promote the resident’s well-being.
We are all very happy with the care that Mum is being given.

The atmosphere at Argentum Lodge Care Home is warm, friendly and hospitable with a sense of open transparency at all times.
My mother frequently says she likes being there and is complimentary about all that is provided for her and about the care team. I notice that there are brilliant activities organised
which are stimulating, sociable and fun and I have been able to view photos where Mum is smiling and engaged. It's hugely heartwarming to see the kindness and positivity at Argentum.

My stepfather became a resident in January 2023 after a very poor experience in a previous home. I immediately felt that he was safe and protected in Argentum Lodge and they identified his needs straight away. He has become happy, and settled and has made friends and companions. He is kept active and
busy and has a better social life than me! He has gained weight and has had his alcohol issues addressed and managed well.
We as a family are extremely impressed with the care he receives at Argentum Lodge and would highly recommend the home to anyone.

I cannot praise Argentum Lodge enough, over the last six months they have cared for my dad following a long hospital admission and a Parkinson's dementia diagnosis and have enabled my mum to join him with fragile mental health from previously caring for my dad on her own. The care home manager has been
so welcoming and understanding and all the staff are so caring and have kept me informed of anything that has happened (which is so reassuring when you don't live locally). The medical care has been excellent with regular visits from local GP and even accompanying Dad to medical appointments. The environment is so homely and we love the new garden area and new chairs! They are always looking for ways to improve and I have been welcomed to relatives meetings to give feedback/ideas. It has been lovely to see Mum and Dad getting more involved with the excellent activities programme coordinated by a staff member and she even took my parents to their local church opposite the care home.

Visited my father in law this weekend at Argentum Lodge and what a friendly home with staff that really care. We live a long way from the home but we love seeing the photos on Facebook of all the fun that takes place and see that they are providing meaningful activities for my father in law that suit
his skills and make it feel like his home. It was lovely to see him looking well and really settling in. The food also smelt delicious! Thank you for all that you are doing

The food today was wonderful, really tasty. The selection of activities is really impressive and this week we've had a ukulele band playing and a pianist - we even had a donkey visit us a couple of weeks ago. The staff are very friendly and always willing to chat and make tea.

Mum has Alzheimer's and moved to Argentum Lodge after her needs weren't able to be met at her previous care home. Mum settled well, and within a short period, her new registered GP had assessed her medication and general health. This was immediately communicated to me, as have any issues with Mum's
care. Mum has an ensuite toilet and shower in her room which is a good size. Being a purpose-built home, the corridors are wide and flat helping Mum's mobility. Overall, we are very pleased with Mum's care.

Mum has resided at Argentum Lodge for the past 10 months. The staff at Argentum are exceptional in their care of residents and their families. We have been kept fully informed at all times on Mum's welfare. She has been treated with dignity. The staff are friendly and happy to chat about any aspects
of Mum's care. We have found management easy to communicate with and the reception staff are always helpful and accomodating. All staff are approachable and understanding. We feel lucky to have found such a dedicated and caring team for Mum.

My mother has been an Argentum Lodge resident for several years. Selected after a thorough family review of North Somerset area care homes, the Argentum team have surpassed expectations that my father and I had for my mother's care (she suffers from dementia and Parkinson's). They settled Mum in well
and it was clear she felt "at home" very quickly. Having had quite some experience with other family members in either care homes or long-term care facilities both in the UK and US, Argentum is absolutely the best facility I have seen: from not only providing a clean, safe and healthy environment (they have been a leading light in the UK for their proactive approach to safety and family interaction during COVID-19 especially), but also in just their day-to-day interaction with and care of their residents and cheery atmosphere that is always noticeable when one visits. I don't usually write reviews, but Argentum Lodge definitely deserves high praise - a hidden gem in the care home world!

My mum has been at Argentum Lodge for over three years. When choosing a home for her I looked at lots. I liked the clean and modern feel of Argentum and each floor being separate made it feel friendly and personal and meant Mum could easily get from her room to the lounge without stairs or lifts.
I
feel Mum is safe and cared for at Argentum Lodge and the measures they have put in place since COVID are very reassuring. The COVID-safe visitor room has been a wonderful addition.

My mum went into Argentum Lodge in July, she always said she wanted to stay in her bungalow and declined offers to be cared for in a home until we reached the point where she couldn't cope anymore. Argentum Lodge have been fantastic, Mum loves it there, the staff are more like family than carers and
I can sleep at night knowing Mum is safe.
I mentioned her bungalow this morning when I went to see her (in their special visiting room) and she told me she didn't want to go back there. Well done Argentum Lodge you've made a lovely lady very happy and given her family peace of mind.

The staff go above and beyond to care for all residents in the home. Mum had a stroke in February and the care and attention she had on her return from hospital was wonderful. A member of staff was at the door to greet her as Mum was very upset and confused in the ambulance, it was so reassuring to
know there was a familiar face to welcome her back. Mum is very happy and settled there. During lockdown we have been kept updated with emails and photos which means the world to me.
The home is always clean and fresh and the staff are friendly, welcoming and dedicated to their jobs, especially in this difficult time.

I have only good things to say about the staff at Argentum Lodge and the great care they have shown in looking after residents. The Covid crisis has been an immense challenge to society, and therefore the challenge to running a dementia care home during a pandemic is multiplied. Relatives are united
by their concern for their loved ones' wellbeing. My experience is that this is an exceptional care home, which relatives can have confidence in. My aunt has been in Argentum Lodge since 2013, diagnosed with Lewy body and frontal lobe dementia, but in May celebrated her 90th birthday (witnessed from outside during lockdown) and to date is still in reasonably good health, with the home escaping any Covid cases, a tribute I believe to the high-quality care and attention she receives from wonderful staff as well as her longevity. My aunt is a music lover, a piano player and singer, and I know she enjoys taking part in karaoke activities in the home and other entertainment.

So pleased we chose Argentum Lodge for Mum when we had to make the difficult decision that she could no longer remain in her own home. Argentum Lodge is very clean, bright and homely. All the staff are amazing, so caring, and friendly. Up until Covid-19, I was able to visit every day and I always felt
welcomed. It was at these times that I was able to see for myself the care and dedication the staff provide to ensure a safe and happy environment. I would have no hesitation in recommending Argentum Lodge.

My mother moved into Argentum just a few weeks ago, entirely with the help of the staff, as I, of course, was unable to help her to move myself, which felt very strange! In order to enable me to see her new surroundings staff kindly took several sets of photos which were emailed to me, including her
lovely room, and her first visits with her partner. All of this made a huge difference to me and I shall always be grateful to them. Certainly, I look forward, as we all do, to the time when I can sit with mum in her new home and finally get to meet the people who have helped mum to settle in her new home.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.744)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.744) out of 10 for Argentum Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 43 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.744 for Argentum Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (416 Excellents x 5) + (65 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 500 Ratings = 4.744
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Argentum Lodge Care Home is based on 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2, which has been reached with 42 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
