Argentum Lodge Care Home

The best staff at Argentum lodge, nothing is too much trouble! From the admin staff, domestic staff, care team and the fabulous activities team you've all made the transition for my nan from leaving her home of 50 years to Argentum a lot easier! Thank you. We appreciate the incredible hard work you put in 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Argentum seemed efficient at the start, however since the new manager has taken over the care has been totally unacceptable. My mother has had multiple unwitnessed falls and very poor care. We have situations where staff including managers do not answer phones or respond to emails for 3 days. Despite a power of attorney being in place the home has refused to engage and liaise regarding health and welfare. The home is tired, not homely and totally unfriendly. After raising concerns rather than the home dealing with these issues they chose to ask my frail mother to leave terminating her tenancy. Given the care fees the home is charging care was totally unacceptable and compassion given to residents with complex health conditions was very distressing. Since moving, within 48 hours my mother seems much happier in herself. When moving out over half of her belongings were missing including her engagement ring from her late husband. Personal items clothing, footwear and jewelry were not found.

The entertainment and activities are amazing, we found this so important to stimulate Mum, and there's always a really lovely atmosphere. It's a very happy place.

Mum went into the Argentum very anxious, but with the help and care of the staff, she is more settled and even going into the common room. The activities team are excellent and Mum enjoys going to the hairdressers, she is very good with her. I am always made very welcome when I visit, even get offered a cup of tea!

The staff are very kind and everyone seems to know all the residents. The activities team are marvellous. They provide a lot of entertainment and encourage residents to join in. I am always made to feel welcome when I visit and can visit any time. My mum has been living at Argentum Lodge for a year now and seems to be settled, though always concerned about what she should be doing. The staff are good at reassuring her. The doctor visits every week so I'm confident that health issues will be addressed. I can raise any concerns I have with staff.

I wanted to say how lovely this care home is. My cousin is in this care home and she is very happy and settled which makes the family happy and at ease knowing she is well looked after. The staff are all friendly and happy and nothing is too much trouble for them, they know my cousin's needs inside and out. When we visited last week the manager introduced herself to myself and my husband, she was very kind and supportive and said if we ever needed anything or if we had concerns then we could always speak to her, what a lovely approach from a manager. Thank you to the manager and the staff for treating my cousin like part of a family not just a number in a care home.

Having made the decision my Mother 94 years needed 25hr care was very worrying and distressing. She has settled into Argentum Lodge very quickly and to my relief is the happiest I have seen her for many months. All the staff at the home are absolutely wonderful, nothing is ever too much trouble for them. I would highly recommend Argentum Lodge to any family needing care for a loved one. I cannot express the peace of mind I now have.

We have always found both staff and management to be kind, empathetic, efficient and caring. Despite the problems of running this demanding service in difficult times, they always go the extra mile.

We are close enough to visit regularly and are very pleased with our choice of Argentum.

Argentum Lodge have been fantastic, supporting my mum who has advanced dementia. They helped her settle and now she is enjoying activities and has a life with some joy and pleasure which she did not have in her own home. Communication from the team is excellent at all times. The staff are friendly and go the extra mile to keep me informed of Mum's progress.

I couldn't wish for Mum to be in a better place.

My father has been a resident here for two and a half years and the staff are truly excellent, caring and are always approachable. The rooms are very comfortable and clean as well as the facilities.

My mother frequently says she likes being there and is complimentary about all that is provided for her and about the care team. I notice that there are brilliant activities organised which are stimulating, sociable and fun and I have been able to view photos where Mum is smiling and engaged. It's hugely heartwarming to see the kindness and positivity at Argentum.

We as a family are extremely impressed with the care he receives at Argentum Lodge and would highly recommend the home to anyone.

I cannot praise Argentum Lodge enough, over the last six months they have cared for my dad following a long hospital admission and a Parkinson's dementia diagnosis and have enabled my mum to join him with fragile mental health from previously caring for my dad on her own. The care home manager has been so welcoming and understanding and all the staff are so caring and have kept me informed of anything that has happened (which is so reassuring when you don't live locally). The medical care has been excellent with regular visits from local GP and even accompanying Dad to medical appointments. The environment is so homely and we love the new garden area and new chairs! They are always looking for ways to improve and I have been welcomed to relatives meetings to give feedback/ideas. It has been lovely to see Mum and Dad getting more involved with the excellent activities programme coordinated by a staff member and she even took my parents to their local church opposite the care home.

Visited my father in law this weekend at Argentum Lodge and what a friendly home with staff that really care. We live a long way from the home but we love seeing the photos on Facebook of all the fun that takes place and see that they are providing meaningful activities for my father in law that suit his skills and make it feel like his home. It was lovely to see him looking well and really settling in. The food also smelt delicious! Thank you for all that you are doing

The food today was wonderful, really tasty. The selection of activities is really impressive and this week we've had a ukulele band playing and a pianist - we even had a donkey visit us a couple of weeks ago. The staff are very friendly and always willing to chat and make tea.

Very happily looked after by a lot of smiling people. I've been here for two weeks respite care and am going home a lot better than when I arrived. It's been a very happy experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Argentum Lodge and its lovely staff.

Mum has Alzheimer's and moved to Argentum Lodge after her needs weren't able to be met at her previous care home. Mum settled well, and within a short period, her new registered GP had assessed her medication and general health. This was immediately communicated to me, as have any issues with Mum's care. Mum has an ensuite toilet and shower in her room which is a good size. Being a purpose-built home, the corridors are wide and flat helping Mum's mobility. Overall, we are very pleased with Mum's care.
