Nothing is too much trouble here for the staff. They go over and above their care duties, speaking and engaging with the residents on first name terms to make them feel calm and relaxed.

My only remediation would be more staff so they have more time to sit with residents, hold their hands and reassure them as that is what most of them enjoy.

The actual building is lovely and very modern. Meals are varied and home cooked.

The nursing team all seemed to be genuinely caring and professional people; I felt as happy as I could be, under the circumstances, leaving my parents in their care.

The care my sister received whilst in the home was excellent. I was kept informed every step of the way through her care plan. Discussion took place when circumstances changed and end of life care was put into place.

I am very happy with the care, attention and facilities at Kendal Care Home. I think all the staff are efficient and caring and are doing a very good job looking after my 97-year-old mum. Thank you so much!

Overall Experience

My mother stayed on the residential floor of this care home. She settled in quickly and felt safe, especially given her initial reluctance to be in a care home. The clean and modern environment is lovely, with a variety of shared areas which are well furnished and decorated. All rooms are of equal standard and size with good quality furniture and a well fitted en-suite wet room. The overall feeling is that of a 5 star hotel - what every elderly person deserves. All the staff we encountered were friendly and extremely caring, being sensitive to individual needs. Meals are served either in the residents' own rooms or in the pleasant dining room where staff eat with residents, helping and encouraging them as needed. There is always a choice of good quality food and flexibility in catering for individuals. This care home has been through difficult times in the past but with the current strong management team, systems and procedures are being put into place. I strongly recommend this home.

Reply from Andrea Gamble, Regional Operations Director at Kendal Care Home

Thank you for your very positive comments and endorsement of the many improvements made at the home over recent months. The new manager has managed to recruit a strong supportive team within the homes, supported by the regional manager; all of which have driven the quality improvements.
