To start with girls in reception always welcoming and know you by name. Staff & carers very friendly. Sometimes carers not available when my husband requires toilet. I've requested my husband has 3 showers per week. Don't think this happens. Decoration of home is nice. The coffee bar, very well attended.
My main view mainly satisfactory.

My Mum was a resident at Rubislaw Park Care Home for the last 18 months of her life, following in the footsteps of my Dad who was a resident in 2023 for the last 6 months of his life. All the staff have always been very attentive to my parents needs and also very welcoming to us as a family. Thank
you to Kayleigh for seamlessly taking over management of the home during the time that Mum was with you and for the management provided by Gayle before her. The facilities are excellent; the courtyards provide sheltered areas for the residents to be outside when the weather allows, the communal areas and bedrooms are well presented and functional, and there are lots of activities the residents can join in with when they are able. We are grateful for the support and care given first to Dad and then to Mum during their time at Rubislaw and will retain many fond memories from our visits. We couldn't have asked for more.
Reply from Kayleigh Chisholm, Registered Manager at Rubislaw Park Care HomeThank you so much for your providing Rubislaw Park with such a heartfelt review. We're truly grateful for your kind words and we were delighted to have cared for both your mum and dad here at Rubislaw Park.

My Mum was a resident of Rubislaw Care Home for the last nine weeks of her life and I cannot praise the staff enough. They were very attentive, caring and showed Mum great respect and kindness. The home is a very welcoming place and Mum enjoyed the "Happy Hour" on a Friday and the various activities
that take place every day. I would certainly recommend Rubislaw Park Care Home to anyone who looking for a caring, respectful, safe and friendly environment.

Rubislaw Park Care Home has been a wonderful place for mum. I couldn't be more grateful for the care and attention she receives there. The staff are attentive and responsive - nothing is ever too much trouble. Their support gives me real peace of mind, especially as I don't live nearby.
Special thanks
go to Joan, Sijo, Val, Ashleigh, Kayleigh, and Kay, Rosie who have all gone above and beyond in making sure Mum is comfortable, well looked after, and happy. Their kindness shines through in everything they do.
The home itself has a lovely, friendly atmosphere. There's always a great variety of activities available, and Mum enjoys having the choice to join in when she feels like it.
Rubislaw Park truly feels like a home, not just a care facility. It's reassuring to know that Mum is surrounded by people who genuinely care, and who make her days enjoyable and dignified! I would wholeheartedly recommend Rubislaw to anyone looking for a safe, welcoming environment for their loved one.

My Dad moved into Rubislaw Park permanently this May, following some periods of respite care. I don't live locally but visit as often as I can and on every single visit I have been impressed by the staff across the home and their caring attitudes, positivity and patience. He has settled in well and
seems content in his new environment. He recently celebrated his (92nd) birthday and it was so lovely seeing the staff make a fuss of him with a cake, card and gift. My elderly mother is able to visit him regularly and spend quality time with him instead of struggling to care for him at home and I feel very reassured that they are both in a much better position than a few months ago. Rubislaw is a very welcoming place and well maintained with lots of activities and things going on. Above all the staff are amazing and from what I have personally witnessed, provide very high standards of care and support.

On our intial visit, we were impressed by the friendly staff, the facilities and the daily activities on offer. Since moving into Rubislaw Park, my sister's health has improved immensely. She has put on weight. Her walking has improved. She enjoys taking part in all the activities. The staff is always
helpful and enthusiastic. My sister is always smiling. She is so happy in her new home. I can't praise the home enough. Highly recommend it.

I viewed other homes prior to Dad coming here 7 months ago - it was head and shoulders above these.
Being in Rubislaw Park has improved his safety & we are very satisfied - it is a great home & very well-managed.
The staff on the nursing unit are unfailingly polite and cheery. There is genuine
care - they are discrete & professional always. It cannot be easy dealing with residents 24/7 & their relatives - patience is on show always! When short-staffed due to holidays/illness etc they all step up for each other - great team spirit.
Staff turnover has been far less than I would have expected.
The activities team do a wonderful job - their efforts are amazing keeping residents happy and occupied.
The communication from the LT team to relatives is strong - this gives a sense of the "family" aspect of the home.
The maintenance of rooms & common areas by the housekeeping/maintenance team is immaculate. The meals produced by the kitchen all day every day are good quality.

My Mother has been at Rubislaw Care Home since April 2024. The staff are just wonderful - They always have smiles on their faces and they made my Mother feel so welcome when she arrived.
They take such good care of her with compassion and dignity.

I am incredibly impressed by my dad's care and the improvement in his overall health and well-being since moving to Rubislaw Park. My dad has gained weight, become far more alert and started talking again. My dad was bedridden for over a year but is now out of his bed in a specialist chair every day
and has also started walking again, small unsteady steps but I never thought I would see him walk again. He is also included in the activities that happen throughout the day! The staff are all incredibly professional, caring and kind, not just to my dad but also to me as his daughter when I visit. I couldn't imagine such a turnaround in my dad's health but the staff at Rubislaw Park have made it happen.

Mum moved to Rubislaw at the end of last year. From the very first meeting with the manager through to move in day and beyond, the support given to Mum and us her family has been fantastic. A massive decision to move into care but with the support of excellent caring staff it has been the right one.
Their efforts in getting to know Mum and her likes and dislikes have resulted in her settling into a new home environment and gradually giving her the confidence to take part in some of the activities on offer.

My mother has moved to Rubislaw Park and they have been wonderful. They are such a kind and caring home-from-home with excellent staff and management. The facilities are lovely and there are well-designed communal areas such as a bar, dining room and library. It is spotlessly clean and the staff go
above and beyond to ensure that all residents have individualised care as per their needs. The atmosphere is homely and very welcoming. We would recommend Rubislaw for anyone looking for excellent care.

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 86 registered maximum number of service users is 17.2. 16 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.2 = 0.93
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
