I visited my relative just after New Year. I live abroad and was home for Christmas, I was so impressed with the service and care offered to my godmother. When visiting, I was made to feel so welcome by the staff who I feel went over and beyond to care for me and my relative. I left knowing that my
godmother was happy well cared for, safe and secure.
Thank you to the manager and all her staff.

I would highly recommend Rubislaw Park Care Home. When I have been in to visit my friend all the staff are always so kind and friendly, nothing was too much to ask for. I love seeing all the residents at the choir and happy hour. When I was in visiting, you would often see the manager doing a walk around

It is wonderful. Mum's room is beautiful, comfortable and spacious. The staff are lovely, very caring and friendly and know mum very well. There is a great variety of activities and the team works tirelessly to make them fun, interesting and appealing. There is a great menu and meals and snacks are
very tempting. We have just celebrated mum's birthday and we have had a lovely afternoon tea with staff singing and lovely gifts. I do not live locally, so it is very reassuring to know Mum is happy. It is a home-from-home.

My mum passed away in the Nursing Unit at the very end of her palliative care.
She was meant to go into a specialist NHS hospice at Roxburghe in Aberdeen but there were no beds available. So we were concerned.

How wrong we were. Mum was made to feel as comfortable as possible, she was given as much

dignity as possible and the staff were out of this world. Cheery, hard-working, sensitive, nothing was ever a problem, they spoke and joked with mum right to the end.

It's also a beautiful place, inside and out and well looked after. We were so glad Rubislaw Park was where mum spent her last 9 days. And I'm sure she would've said the same.

Reply from Gayle Bain, Registered Manager at Rubislaw Park Care HomeMany thanks for your lovely review and your kind reflection of the care your Mum received during what we understand is a very difficult time for families.
I will share your review with the team who always cherish and value our families feedback. It was a pleasure to care for your lovely Mum during her final days.

Rubislaw Park Care Home is undoubtedly the very greatest blessing we have had come into our lives just when we needed them. After two years of very difficult, rapidly-deteriorating health problems in Greece, my civil partner has settled right into the Home and found complete peace there. It is a privilege
to be part of such a first-class award-winning organisation. The whole place exudes joy and fun and the whole team gel so well together to provide the very best care we could ever hope for. They all know intrinsically what is best for every resident under every set of circumstances. Having been fed by stomach peg for many months, already my partner is able to feed himself and eat normally enjoying the taste of a wide range of beautiful home-cooked meals. Out of dire circumstances, he is rejoicing in a true quality of life again, thanks to the Manager and her expert team. I shall be forever grateful. Their ongoing refurb programme continues to keep the home fresh, bright and beautiful.

Since my mum became a resident I have found the staff to be very helpful, caring, supportive and friendly. There are plenty of activities for the residents and if it wasn't for the staff encouraging my mum to join in and make friends she would be sitting in her room. I couldn't have picked a better
care home for her. Well done to all the staff. Mum absolutely loves the food, especially her porridge in the morning.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.643)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.643) out of 10 for Rubislaw Park Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.813 for Rubislaw Park Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (173 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 203 Ratings = 4.813
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.83 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rubislaw Park Care Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 86 registered maximum number of service users is 17.2. 16 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.2 = 0.93
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
