When visiting my friend I was overcome with the level of care and kindness the staff show towards the residents. The home has such a lovely caring atmosphere all the residents I observed while visiting my friend are happy and extremely well cared for. It’s like a home from home the home itself is so
lovely and extremely well maintained I must say I came away with a completely new outlook on nursing homes so well done to everyone who works at Rubislaw Park Care Home.

The care my uncle received was second to none, the staff were very friendly/helpful, they took their time with my uncle and explained everything to me which was a delight, my overall experience was fantastic and I could not fault them in any way. With my uncle's dementia, it was hard for me to cope,
now I can have peace of mind knowing he will be looked after and given the proper care he deserves and I can visit him anytime which with my work schedule, can be all over the shop. Overall, I can only say thank you Rubislaw Park Care Home for everything, what a delight.
Reply from Gayle Duthie, Registered Manager at Rubislaw Park Care HomeMany thanks for providing a very heartfelt review of the care your lovely uncle receives within Rubislaw Park Care Home. My dad has recently moved to Rubislaw, and I would like to thank all the staff for their professionalism and support during this time.
The process of leaving home and moving into residential care is, without doubt, one of life’s big challenges; however, the level of thought and individual care planning
put in by the staff to help Dad settle in at Rubislaw has been second to none. This is all the more impressive, as Dad’s move was unplanned, and the team were able to react immediately and support my dad and me quickly and competently out of a crisis to a safe place.
The staff have been very proactive in openly discussing and addressing any queries or concerns, quickly putting in place solutions that are tailored to Dad’s needs and wishes.

My relative has been a resident of Rubislaw Park for over two months. The staff have been very supportive and helpful during this transition time.
The home is beautifully presented, and the meals are all homemade, and he enjoys particularly his Sunday Roas and Friday Happy Hours.
Rubislaw Park is
a lovely care home, and we are so very lucky to now call this his home. Thank you to everyone.

Nice care home, good service and my friend is happy which is good to see. Always a happy welcome. But the gardens could have better seating, as the plastic chairs aren't too comfy but other than that, quite nice here.

My dad was a resident at Rubislaw for about four months and the whole experience was positive and faultless. Dad was treated as an individual and with dignity and respect. His assigned carers were patient with him and supportive of us as a family. We had regular photos of him enjoying the various daily
activities. His room was always clean and tidy. The entire staff from housekeeping, nurses, activity coordinators and carers were professional and demonstrated a desire to provide a high standard of care. There is a lovely atmosphere in the home and we enjoyed visiting not just Dad, but interacting with the other residents and staff. The manager and team have created a very special community here and we can’t thank them enough for the excellent care given to Dad.

The staff are so friendly and attentive. Since my mother moved in on April 14th, she has started eating again, conversing and her diabetes is under control. It’s as if she has gone back to 2019 pre-pandemic, chatting more and walking around (with her Zimmer frame). She still sleeps a lot and asks the
same questions (mixed dementia), but the nursing care she receives is brilliant. There are events or activities on twice a day and with the warm weather, they have been sitting outside in the courtyard in ‘happy hour’. Thoroughly recommend Rubislaw Park, the management and staff, to anyone who needs their specialised skills.
Reply from Gayle Duthie, Registered Manager at Rubislaw Park Care HomeMany thanks for your lovely review of the services your lovely mum receives within Rubislaw Park. Rubislaw Park Care Home just becomes better and better! Not only is Ash being redecorated and is really brightening up every day I go in, but they made my partner's 75th birthday extra special this time last week. Clearly, his birthday coincides with St Patrick’s Day and the day, the therapist comes
in to visit so, even before the birthday celebrations began, my partner was already feeling really spoiled! He had received nearly 40 messages, cards and texts before the Activities Coordinator came in wearing her tall green St Patrick’s Day hat and bearing a beautifully iced vanilla sponge baked by the kitchen staff with candles for my partner to blow out - which he did with gusto! He was given beautiful, thoughtful gifts by the home and was made to feel really special by all the staff. Thank you, thank you, thank you, all of you, for all your hard work. You make life so special for all of us - residents and relatives alike and make lives long-troubled by declining health so very much more bearable and even happier.
Reply from Gayle Duthie, Registered Manager at Rubislaw Park Care HomeWe cannot thank you enough for your lovely review.

The staff are very professional, helpful and pleasant. When I go in to visit there's always a nice atmosphere in the unit and it always smells nice and clean, they can't do enough for you, and they keep you at ease that our loved ones are getting great care.
During the week there are lots of activities
and the activity team have put a lot of thought into this to cater/cover all the resident's needs as they are so different, so trying to get a balance could be hard, but they hit it on the nail.
Management is excellent, what I like is they always keep you updated, it could be up to 2-3 times a week depending on what's going on so you are aware - it's brilliant, they always have time for you if you need to talk and they have put a lot of money and effort into updating the home for the residents, which is key as that is their home now and I am hoping in time their rooms will also receive a paint over. I do think the seats should be plastic leather it's easier to wipe down and the flooring to be laminated to the specified specifications for safety reasons.
It's not a nice situation for anyone to be in, but I know my mum is being taken good care of and that gives me peace of mind.

In my opinion, Rubislaw Park Care Home has facilities second to none in caring for their residents. They are treated with dignity and respect by the diligent staff and receive the appropriate care and treatment.
The home itself maintains high standards of cleanliness and is efficiently run by a dedicated
team under excellent management. This is not always the case in such establishments, yet the staff's dedication here is visible at all times. They ensure the residents have an enormous range of daily activities although they can opt to stay in their beautifully appointed rooms if desired. Overall, I can only say that my experience of visiting a distant relative here was a lovely experience and I felt so reassured regarding their care, well done Rubislaw Park Care Home.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.643)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.643) out of 10 for Rubislaw Park Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.813 for Rubislaw Park Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (173 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 203 Ratings = 4.813
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.83 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rubislaw Park Care Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 86 registered maximum number of service users is 17.2. 16 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.2 = 0.93
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
