I cannot recommend Apex Care centre enough. Throughout my mother's time there she was looked after with kindness, compassion & respect. The staff were always available & caring to my mother's needs! I have the utmost respect for them. They work under great pressure with the needs required by a varying degree of different needs from the residents there, which they do the an exceptional standard. I would also like to congratulate the manager Ann on the way the centre is run. In the time my mother was a resident there Ann continuously delivered above & beyond the call of duty & I will be greatful for looking after my mother until she passed away! I live a long way from the centre so it was a great peace of mind knowing she was so we looked after! Amazing standards & work from everyone involved!

My parent has been resident for a few months. The staff are attentive, thoughtful and kind to those in their care and welcoming and friendly to visitors who can go anytime. The home is absolutely clean, airy, light and spacious. The food is varied, well presented and appetising. Activities are run morning and afternoon. Most participate and enjoy themselves. You can pursue a separate interest or take time out. A puzzle board was made for my parent - something I didn't expect. Special entertainments are put on now and then eg a visit by some little ponies which went down well. I have visited often and have seen that the staff know those in their care well and treat them with dignity and fondness. Their needs are carefully monitored and medical attention is accessed promptly. The team has a supportive and very engaged leader in the care home manager who sets a high standard. I am very appreciative of everything the staff do for my parent and value their professionalism and commitment.

Overall Experience
My great aunt has been a resident since 2019, my great uncle since 2020. Both suffered mobility issues and were bed-ridden. Having cared for themselves prior to becoming residents, their health and hygiene had deteriorated considerably. Their health, appearance and hygiene standards improved enormously when cared for here. My great uncle recently passed away and I think it would be fair to say that he was a somewhat difficult man to deal with at times. (He would have agreed.) Despite this, I found the staff had a realistic and appropriate way of dealing with him. They were tolerant, and fair and kept me informed of any problems that arose.
My great-aunt is still a resident. She is very happy there and well cared for. The staff are fond of her and she is treated with kindness and dignity.

I've dealt with their external needs for the last few years and I live a couple of hours drive from the home. The management team have been extremely helpful when dealing with problems as they have arisen.

Overall Experience

The home is bright, welcoming and clean. There are various seated areas, all nicely furnished and well maintained. The staff are friendly and responsive. The individual rooms are a reasonable size and have access to a garden area. My sister is able to have her dog there, which is essential for her at the moment. I am really pleased with the home; I have seen several care homes, and this is the best one I have visited.

My wife has been in the care of Apex Care Centre at Mablethorpe since July 2019. We are both very happy with the care and professionalism given to her by the care staff and the management. She gets on well with the care staff and they, in turn, seem to be quite fond of her. The current manager and the previous one seem to have gone out of their way to keep the residents safe and happy. They have gone the extra mile in the difficult situation during 2020 with problems caused by the virus.

Thank you to everyone at the centre, ie the manager, the office manager, maintenance, kitchen staff and all the lovely carers for making my wife feel safe and comfortable at your care home.

My husband went into this home for 1 weeks respite, on 1st visit after ringing night before and getting told all was OK. On arrival he was not in his room and nobody knew where he was, after searching the entire place for 20 min staff only decided on help after I raised my voice. Took 30 min to find him, he had followed staff out of a back door into the grounds, got through a fence, ended up across the road in a ditch after falling and losing his glasses. His eye was cut his legs were cut and scratched after he crawled up the ditch and barbed wire to get out. The day before he had been very agitated and had tried to open doors but staff told me on phone he was settling OK. This was a Sunday last December have not had a letter/phone call or any way of apology did not even phone to ask if he was alright. So no, I would not recommend and now they had the cheek to send a bill when he came home a lot worse than when he went in, he lost his glasses and hearing aid and nobody seems to care.

Overall Experience

The physical environment is pleasant and clean, my mothers room was a good size and well furnished. The lack of a TV aerial point meant my mother could not watch TV and felt isolated until friends brought a radio. The appearance of the bed was a bit daunting on first sight - the sides were raised and draped with cream padded fabric and it resembled a large open coffin! We did get used to the appearance but it was a shock the first time I visited when my mother felt as though she had been put in a box.

Communication between staff about the care of my mother was poor with a lack of understanding of her needs and conflicting ideas on what was required and I think a more pro-active approach to communication would be helpful.

The staff are pleasant and I met the nurse a couple of times and he appeared competent and caring, I don't know the names of other staff members.

I was not impressed to find one inch high black laundry letters on a cream coloured nightdress - why not write them in a discreet place?

The care home is easy to find with adequate parking.

I have rated activities and value for money as satisfactory although I don't know about these - there is no option to chose "don't know" or "not applicable"
