My parent has been resident for a few months. The staff are attentive, thoughtful and kind to those in their care and welcoming and friendly to visitors who can go anytime. The home is absolutely clean, airy, light and spacious. The food is varied, well presented and appetising. Activities are run morning
and afternoon. Most participate and enjoy themselves. You can pursue a separate interest or take time out. A puzzle board was made for my parent - something I didn't expect. Special entertainments are put on now and then eg a visit by some little ponies which went down well. I have visited often and have seen that the staff know those in their care well and treat them with dignity and fondness. Their needs are carefully monitored and medical attention is accessed promptly. The team has a supportive and very engaged leader in the care home manager who sets a high standard. I am very appreciative of everything the staff do for my parent and value their professionalism and commitment.

Choosing a nursing home for my husband, who needed 24 hour care, was a worrying and difficult task. As soon as I visited, I knew this was the one. The staff always have a smile on their face, and the atmosphere is full of care and compassion. My husband is tall, so an extension was found for the bed.
Everything possible is done to keep him comfortable. A doctor visits the home every week so all medical needs are covered. With a top food and hygiene rating of 5, the huge variety of home cooked meals provided are delicious and full of nutrition for the health of the residents. Welbourn Nursing Home is all we could have hoped for and more. Thank you to everyone.

After 2 previous homes greatly failed my dad, our family's scepticism & trust in the care home system made us very worried about further impacts on his health. Although still cautious, we soon realised that this new home was an absolute life saver. I can't shout from the roof tops loud enough about
the level of amazing care that they provided for my dad. They showed him kindness, patience, comfort, & dignity, provided him the support & care he so desperately needed. His health needs were swiftly addresss from the moment he arrived & I believed saved his life. I couldn't have wished for a better home or kinder staff to care for my dad, & are worth their weight in gold. They helped restore trust to enable us to leave our loved one in someone else's care. The staff were always approachable, understanding, helpful, kind, & looked after the family too.This home from my experience is a real gem who really do care about the quality of care they provide for their residence & family. Well done!

The experience I have had with care homes for my husband I do not wish to repeat. He must have gone through hell, not able to tell anyone as being too afraid. I did end up reporting one. When they told me he was being moved, I worried what this one would be like, but I didn't need to worry. They have
been so kind & caring to my husband. I couldn't wish for better nursing for his up to end of life. He was always clean and dressed in clean clothes. The home was clean and always smelled nice when I went to see him. They have also been kind to me and my family. I would recommend this home to anyone.

Unfortunately the standards of this previously well regarded nursing home have declined. Recently sold to a Radlett businessman, subsequent cuts resulted in activities being stopped altogether and a lack of staff at crucial times of the day. My wife and other residents were often left on their own in
the main lounge and she felt abandoned and alone. Many of the new staff brought in after complaints were non-verbal as far as residents were concerned and she was even put to bed by an elderly Spanish man who usually served the tea. Although she made physical improvements my wife had falls, went to sleep un-noticed on a sofa in the lounge, was often left in her pyjamas all day and her main activity was sitting in a chair. As a family we were forced to move my wife after being there for two months and have found a far better place at about the same cost where she receives friendly and supportive care. I would definitely warn people off going to Houndswood House these days.

Mr M was with his wife in the lounge where a carer was present. He asked carer to get something from his wife's room. At this point he started to help his wife get up and she fell to the floor. The carer returned and helped her get comfortable. There is no history of falls and the fall she had was directly due to his actions. This was witnessed by 2 other residents, both of whom have given statements. Mr M has a history of complaints, all of which have been properly addressed. The Spanish carer for example, is a very experienced carer (10+ years in a care home) and came to us from another care home. There has never been an incident where a resident is left in their night clothes all day.Mr M moved his wife to another care home. We waived the notification period. He now wants to bring her back which we declined. It has resulted in this feedback.

Excellent care by staff. Attentive and genuine. Informed nursing staff. Since my mum arrived at Welbourn, she started making dramatic progress within one week! From not being able to walk, to now walking over a mile at a time! It's just fantastic and all the staff team are to be commended.

My great aunt has been a resident since 2019, my great uncle since 2020. Both suffered mobility issues and were bed-ridden. Having cared for themselves prior to becoming residents, their health and hygiene had deteriorated considerably. Their health, appearance and hygiene standards improved enormously
when cared for here. My great uncle recently passed away and I think it would be fair to say that he was a somewhat difficult man to deal with at times. (He would have agreed.) Despite this, I found the staff had a realistic and appropriate way of dealing with him. They were tolerant, and fair and kept me informed of any problems that arose.
My great-aunt is still a resident. She is very happy there and well cared for. The staff are fond of her and she is treated with kindness and dignity.
I've dealt with their external needs for the last few years and I live a couple of hours drive from the home. The management team have been extremely helpful when dealing with problems as they have arisen.

My sister was only with you for nine weeks prior to her death. The end-of-life palliative care she received was excellent. All the staff were kind, considerate and understanding both to my sister and all the family. We stayed 24/7, days before her death. We had a room provided for resting, washing facilities
and food and drink were made available. We have returned several times for various reasons and have been welcomed by everyone. The staff have been like a family, including management.

We liked Houndswood House as soon as we walked in. It’s extremely well-kept and has a lovely homely atmosphere.
My mum came from hospital, two months after a terrible seizure, which left her mentally and physically disabled. Her Alzheimer’s has sadly advanced to the point where she needs 24-hour care
but physically she’s doing great. After a few months at Houndswood, she’s walking, absolutely loves the food and the catheter is gone!
My family and I know that her determination to ‘walk about’ has been challenging but all the staff and management have continued to find ways of supporting her and we are very grateful for this. They are always so kind, caring and patient and my mum is really fond of them.
There is a lovely rapport between staff and residents at Houndswood House with lots of smiles and chat. The staff work really hard to keep everyone happy and well cared for. I think they do an excellent job!
