All staff helpful, friendly and caring, rooms very comfortable, and as much like home as it is possible to be. Activities available for those who want them. Food very well cooked. In fact a very safe place for anyone who is no longer as mobile as normal.

My wife was admitted for 1 week of respite care for her Alzheimer’s condition. This was the first time she has been at a care home. From her initial admission up until me picking her up 7 days later, she has received excellent care and support. The carers even managed to get her to mix with the other
residents during meal times. My wife has not wanted to mix with strangers for some months now. The home is modern and spotlessly clean. All of the staff I met or spoke to on the phone were friendly, professional and were able to answer all questions. I will happily use this home again when she next has a period or respite.

I cannot rate Aspen's Care highly enough. The staff are friendly and caring and the care and attention my Dad received in his last weeks were amazing.
The care, the nursing, the food, and the welcome for visitors were outstanding. He was included in the activities at all times and we are so grateful.

February was the last month of my husband's stay (a year) as he passed away on the 23rd of February. During his last month, he was looked after and cared for extremely well. He was kept clean and comfortable and all his needs were well catered for. The care and consideration given to myself and his
family was also excellent. His whole stay at Aspen Manor made his last year as good as it possibly could be and his ongoing health problems were handled with care and compassion.

My father-in-law was suffering with Parkinson's and dementia when he came into Aspen Manor Care Home so he needed a lot of care. He certainly got all that and more from the caring staff. When he got so poorly and it looked like he may have to go into hospital, his wife, of sixty-plus-years, pleaded
with the staff to keep him in Aspen Manor because that's how highly she thought of the place. They did exactly that and he passed away peacefully there.

The care my grandad received from the team at Aspen Manor was exceptional. All of the staff went above and beyond to make it his second home, and to make us feel welcome. My grandad came into your care at the start of his deterioration and the level of care during each stage was always excellent. He was accompanied to my wedding with one of the carers who took great care of him. The staff always treated him with such dignity which was one of our initial concerns having

I can't rate Aspen Manor highly enough. My dad spent 2 months there and the care he was given was amazing, the carers went above and beyond to look after him, we went in every day to see Dad and not once did we find anyone unhelpful. They were all so kind. In my opinion, you'd struggle to find better.

I was hoping for a lot more understanding, compassion and effective staffing at the home but sadly their overall service let my mother down. One related to a safeguarding event and others involved a lack of communication on a number of occasions, especially during my mother's deterioration in health
over the last 2 months in particular. Effective communication appears somewhat lacking and is a major weakness.
There were four main positives, the fact my Mum did not have a fall in the 3 months she was there and secondly 2 staff members were very kind towards Mum, the hairdresser was kind and the food was good.

My mum came to Aspen Manor for four weeks of respite care and she wasn't sure at first but came to like it. The staff were lovely and very caring, she came home a new person much more like her old self. Her mobility was much improved due to the staff encouraging and motivating her to be more independent.
We will definitely return if she should need respite or more permanent care. I would definitely recommend Aspen Manor. We particularly enjoyed having coffee together in the bistro area.

I came into Aspen Manor when in need of urgent care after an infection, instead of planned respite two weeks later. We very much appreciated the flexibility and understanding shown. Everybody is willing to accommodate our requests. We would have liked staff to undertake walking assistance as requested
by the physio. Each time we had to remind them several times and sometimes it was done around 10pm or not at all. It was suggested that we should send a photo of the socks (as we couldn't mark them) but we have still not received two pairs of socks that were laundered, one all royal blue and one with coloured dots on a dark background. Skin lotion also missing.

Aspen Manor has a great staff of professional caring people that work together and deal with all the issues to manage the best quality of life - elderly or adult needing care. I visited my neighbour who was on short stay at Aspen Manor. They were very accommodating and having a Christmas Party which I was invited to partake in. Very friendly and welcoming staff.

This is an excellent care home. I could not be more contented, given the fact that my husband died after a long illness in June, the kindness shown to me has been and is exemplary. Full marks all round, visitors and family are always welcomed. It is a happy place.

My father was in Aspen Manor for just under 4 weeks before he sadly passed away. Because of the care of the wonderful staff, it gave us some quality time with my father which we will be forever grateful for. The minute you walk in the door you are engulfed with the same love and compassion all the staff
give your loved ones. The atmosphere at Aspen Manor is one of family and your family becomes their family. I cannot recommend this place enough.

My husband came to Aspen Manor for respite care while a bathroom upgrade was carried out. Initially, for 2 weeks, it became 19 days as work over-ran. In the end that was a benefit as the extra days helped with an increased understanding of his needs. He has Lewy Body dementia - a rarer type of dementia
with specific issues. He has very poor mobility, little speech, variable cognition, and severe hearing loss. Although these and other issues were discussed ahead of admission, and written information given, I felt it took some staff rather a long time to grasp their importance. Occasionally significant issues were overlooked.
However, from the moment of arrival, he was warmly welcomed, and the atmosphere of the home was relaxed and very friendly. All his care staff were kind and very caring, as were the house, kitchen, and management staff.
As understanding progressed through his stay, I have become more confident of and look forward to, requesting further respite in the future.

Following a fall at home and with a deteriorating neurological condition, we placed Mum in Aspen Manor Care Home initially for a period of respite care. The home is lovely with beautiful grounds, rooms, lounges and facilities and from the first phone call with reception staff to when Mum sadly passed
away several weeks later, the care the whole team provided was of an excellent quality. The staff were kind, caring, helpful and went out of their way to make Mum's stay as safe, effective and comfortable as they could. They were patient and able to give Mum their time while welcoming our regular visits as a family and involving us in care decisions. When it was time to accept that Mum had deteriorated and was in the final weeks of her life, the staff worked closely with us as a family to ensure that she was cared for in a way that respected her wishes, kept her comfortable and cared for with compassion, dignity and respect.

The home is still new so is very clean and beautiful appointed. But physical environments alone do not make a great care home - it is the people who work inside that is the real strength of Aspen Manor. From reception, accounts, carers, caters and nurses. They are cheerful, helpful, kind, and experienced.
It would be easy to single out one or two who really impressed but they are very much a team - and the whole is definitely greater than the sum of the parts. Weaknesses? Well, the lack of activities meant my husband spent a lot of time alone watching television alone in his room, but when I mentioned this good efforts were made to engage him in more activities.

Martine brings over 20 years of experience as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN). Her career has been dedicated to complex mental health services and elderly community care, with 15 years spent in management roles leading teams to deliver exceptional care. At Aspen Manor, Martine's priority is to create a warm, safe, and supportive environment where residents receive person-centred care tailored to their individual needs. She is committed to upholding the highest standards of care, ensuring dignity, respect, and well-being for every resident. She also recognises the importance of supporting families during their loved one’s care journey, offering reassurance, guidance, and compassionate support every step of the way.

Claire has been working in care for around 25 years now. She started her career in care when she was 18 and worked in a home for young adults with disabilities in Devon which is her hometown.
Clair started her career as a care assistant and decided to work in a dementia care home for the elderly, she loved it so much that she has worked in residential care homes for the elderly for the rest of her career to date.
Over the years she has completed various training which led to her completion of NVQ’s in Health and Social Care in Management.
Clair has worked for Alysia Caring since Aspen Manor opened in October 2021 and thoroughly enjoys her job as Deputy Manager.

Claire is responsible for resident admissions and the liaison with families. She joined Aspen Manor in 2024 and has a background in HR, Corporate Relations and most recently Admissions in the Independent School sector. Claire lives locally with her family and was born in Oakham so brings a wealth of experience and local knowledge to her role at Aspen Manor. She very much looks forward to meeting potential new residents and their families, guiding them through the admissions process and welcoming them to our lovely home.
