My Dad is very well cared for at Silver Birch. It's taken a lot for me to trust other people to care for him, after a prolonged stay in hospital as he is so vulnerable but all of the staff without exception treat him with such dignity and compassion.

Every time we go in, we are treated as part of

the SB family and nothing is ever too much trouble.

There is always something going on, whether joining in with the activities, sitting in the bistro area with a coffee, watching TV or a film in the cinema room, or enjoying the garden.

SB doesn't have a high turnover of staff, meaning my Dad knows the carers and we do too.

The food always smells and looks lovely at mealtimes, and there is a good choice on offer. As well as the main meal choices, there is an all day dining menu so if the residents don't fancy a meal at traditional meal times, they won't go without.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Silver Birch to anyone looking for a care home for their loved one.

My mum has been a resident here for over a year and from my initial contact with the home back in February 2025 it has been first class.

We were invited with my mum for a visit with other family members and were given a tour and all relevant information regarding respite and potentially full time

care in Silver Birch.

We decided to move my mum here and were very welcomed by everyone. I am so pleased we chose Silver Birch as it gives me great reassurance in her care and wellbeing. I think that what makes the difference is seeing the same members of staff regularly which helps with familiarisation for my mum and consistency in care.

I cannot thank Silver Birch enough for all care and time they give to my mum, and equally the support they give my dad. This has been a challenging time for him as much as my mum. Sophie the Manager and all administrative staff along with carers, nurses and doctors have supported him fully in this journey and me too.

Reply from Sophie Brown, Manager at Silver Birch Care HomeThank you very much for your amazing review. It is our absolute pleasure to care for your mother and we are so glad to hear that you are happy with her care here, I will be sure to pass on the feedback to our lovely team members.

The staff deserve to be praised for their work with the differing and complex needs of the residents on the 1st floor.
My mum was on that floor for 2 and a bit years. I spent a lot of time with her and observed the care staff She was treated really well although I know she could be difficult at
times. This was backed up by the send off they gave at her recent passing. It was a difficult time but they not only looked after mum but supported me greatly. I have nothing but admiration for them all and cannot thank them enough
I would recommend anyone to visit the home with an open mind if wanting to find their loved ones their forever home

From what I witnessed, I cannot in good conscience recommend Grand View Care Home. My father-in-law experienced what we felt were poor standards of care during his time there. Hygiene levels were consistently low, and we often observed a lack of attention to cleanliness and personal care, which was
deeply concerning and unacceptable.
Senior management made unfounded allegations against my husband after he raised serious concerns about the care his father was receiving. Following this, the home imposed inappropriate visiting restrictions but failed to provide supporting evidence when he requested it. As a result, my husband felt unable to visit his father for several months, as doing so under those conditions would have implied acceptance of what we know to be false accusations. This caused significant distress to our family during an already difficult time.
For me, Grand View Care Home will always be known for the fancy chandelier rather than a care home you can trust and rely on.

In my experience, standards of care at Grand View Care Home were concerning. Hygiene was often poor; my father was frequently found wet or soiled and regularly looked and smelled dirty.
He spent all day, every day in a filthy, stinking wheelchair and was only supported to sit in a normal chair 3 times
in 21 months. Since moving to a new care home, he is now seated in a normal chair daily.
Residents with advanced dementia were often not included in activities and left in the lounge for hours without supervision. The TV was frequently on inappropriate programmes such as Crimewatch and modern action films.
My father experienced numerous falls, many I believe were avoidable, e.g., seatbelt not fitted or seat alarm not on or with dead batteries. In my view, care plans and risk assessments did not always appear followed.
When concerns were raised, this led to multiple threats and issuing of contract termination. I am only able to leave this review now as my father has moved care homes.

Grand View Care Home does not take accountability and seems to shape a narrative to suit its own agenda. Based on my experience, senior management, the board, and owners cannot be relied on to handle concerns appropriately. My father suffered a fall and was left on the floor unattended whilst waiting
for an ambulance to arrive, yet the exact 53 minutes of CCTV footage covering this was lost, even though footage from both sides of the missing section was available. When I raised concerns, his contract was terminated. Although later revoked, I faced unfounded allegations, along with visiting restrictions that felt intended to discourage me from speaking up. A single vague document was produced after I requested supporting evidence, a statement was also provided which I maintain is false and contradicted actual recorded minutes of a meeting. Since moving my father to a new care home we couldn't be happier, his care is night and day different, he is settled and much more like his old self.

My wife died on February 26th this year and was resident of Grand View care home having been diagnosed with dementia. Since September 2024 she has had the very best care possible and I can't praise the home and especially the staff enough. Throughout her stay she was so well looked after with very good
food and terrific entertainment that my wife readily joined in on but by far the most important was the the care for her which was outstanding. The best example of this was on the night before she died one of the care staff, after I left at 7.30pm went to her room andstayed with her all night saying that she didn't want her to be alone in her last hours. I have not seen such compassion in my lifetime before.

My Uncle has just passed away after being cared for here since Nov 23. I am blown away by how amazing Silver Birch has been. My Uncle was so happy here, he was adored by the staff & it was reciprocated. He got involved in all activities and was happy to get dressed up. I love how much was going on at
the home, my parents have been very well supported through a very difficult time & my uncle had some challenges. None of this was a problem to the staff, he was treated with dignity & respect all the time. The attitude of the staff towards the residents and to the visitors is second to none, we had some staff attend his funeral and again showed their love & support to the family. The building & facilities are amazing, I hope Silver Birch maintains its excellent standards for many years to come. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything.

My Aunt has been a resident of Aspen Manor care home for just over six months. She was admitted to begin with as respite care following illness however she now is a permanent resident. The care shown by all members of staff is outstanding. They are so friendly approachable and nothing is too much trouble.
My Aunt settled well and absolutely loves living there and in particular she very much enjoys the wonderful food and comfort of the surroundings. If you're looking for a care home in which place a loved relative I couldn't recommend Aspen Manor more highly. Knowing that she has safe and well care for gives great peace of mind.

The care my cousin received was excellent. Unfortunately, she booked herself in when she could no longer manage at home. Her room had a balcony and beautiful views. The rooms are clean and well presented. It gives the impression of a high wit quality hotel and the food is very good. My cousin had a
very painful and unpleasant death but the staff were really good and made her time there as pleasant as they possibly could. This includes chasing the GP, MacMillan and facilitating the right pain relief. My cousin enjoyed the finer things in life so chose Grand View for her final weeks. Her family from Germany commented that it was like a very good hotel and also praised the staff for their kindness, professionalism, and care they provided. Unfortunately I cannot recall all their names but we would like to thank everyone that gave my cousin such great care. If you are looking for a great home for your loved ones I cannot recommend The Grand View Care Home enough.

This Christmas was made extra special by how we were greeted at Silver Birch Care Home.on Christmas Eve as all the staff at the Home had dressed up in festive attire and were so joyful and singing to all the residents and their families. Drinks and food were flowing. It was quite overwhelming because
we had such a wonderful experience. Each and every one of the staff on mum's floor were so jolly and joyful it felt as though they were part of our family and in a way I guess they are. The staff cannot do enough to make you feel welcome and the care and support they give to our mum is exceptional. Christmas Day as soon as we entered the Home Sophie, the Manager was such a welcoming sight, so happy to welcome guests who were visiting and on hand for anything you required. People forget that Management and staff have their own families too but I can honestly say I felt they put their residents first. I know in my heart my mum is well cared for and we couldn't ask for anything more.

I spent the New Year at Silver Birch to be with my 97 year old mum. We enjoyed two lovely afternoons, planned by the entertainment staff. There was a karaoke party and a singer. It was lovely to see the residents joining in with the singing and a few who were able to have a dance, including my mum.
During the karaoke party, two of the carers sang to the residents. It was very touching to see. I think the staff are very kind and caring and go above and beyond for their residents. I must also mention the reception staff, who are always there to welcome relatives. Well done to you all.

I am an advocate for a resident who has resided at Grand View since November 2021 living, firstly on the ground floor, moving to the 2nd, nursing floor, a few months ago. Her care is overall excellent. She's always in clean clothes, is comfortable and well fed.
The ratio of staff to resident at GV
is good, sometimes boosted by agency workers who are mostly familiar to the residents. I understand that recruitment has secured additional carers which should minimise the need for this, however.
Although my resident does not partake in the activities on offer (which are many and varied) she does enjoy the one to one connections given.
Overall, Grand View provide a safe, professional place offering support and personal care which is excellent.

Aspen Manor has been incredibly supportive during a difficult time for mum, whose day to day needs can be variable and decisions change similarly. The increased socialisation and activities mean she is often more animated and definitely more stimulated than living in isolation at home. The staff are
caring and during a recent illness, it was reassuring to know that they were monitoring mum more closely. Knowing that she is safe, with staff on hand 24 hours a day is an immense relief.
