Overall Experience

My daughter and myself had already visited Chetwynd House and decided this was the place for my husband's first respite care. He has dementia and went from hospital to Chetwynd House for nine days. In the home, there was an air of calm and everyone working there was very friendly and caring. The residents were relaxed and happy. I also saw them engaged in different activities on my visits.

I was impressed by the monitoring day and night. Staff knew where everyone was and if someone was in their room at meal times they made sure they returned to the lounge/diner for food and drinks.

I believe that it is about the caring for the person first and the quality of the staff employed of which Chetwynd House has an abundance of both. This is a beautiful home and a role model for other care homes to follow.

My daughter and myself would definitely want my husband to return, should the need arise. It made the whole experience so much easier knowing that he was content and safe. Keep up the good work.

It has been a very difficult time for me but they have made me feel comfortable, safe and secure. Having lived in my previous home for 92 years Chetwynd House has made the transition much easier than anticipated.

Although mum only moved into Chetwynd House 4 weeks ago, in the short time she has been there, we have been really pleased with the quality of care she is now receiving. From the front-line carers, all the way through to activity coordination, catering, reception and management, the quality of service has so far been excellent. Since moving into Chetwynd House from another care home, mum is clearly more relaxed, content and at ease with her surroundings than she has been for a considerable time. This is clearly due to the way that all care staff seem to engage with residents. Thank you all - what we thought was going to be a very traumatic move has turned into a very positive experience for all the family.

I have found the staff caring and patient, extremely hard working and always looking out for residents - particularly those with dementia. The facilities and rooms are excellent and the dementia staff are always cheerful and patient. The management have done a great job developing the care home from scratch.

All staff are friendly and happy to assist wherever necessary, with nothing being too much trouble. Families are included and informed regularly. The atmosphere is relaxed and happy with lots of activities to give varied experiences. Safety measures are excellent with residents being of paramount importance.

Mum has been a resident at Chetwynd House for four months now, it was a big step for her as before she needed care she had been very independent at home. Now she has been there a while she is looking much more settled. The food is excellent, her room (and Bathroom) are very homely, but most of all the staff are wonderful. Thank you. Regarding value for money score, I made a mistake should have put excellent.

In the 8 months that my mother has been associated with Chetwynd House, she has become a completely different lady who is not much happier and her interpersonal skills have gone from zero to sky high. The carers have made her feel completely at home and not only does she enjoy the many and varied activities but she has again got friends. Chetwynd house has taken a depressed self-induced reclusive lady, my mum, and given her a reason to enjoy life again. I cannot speak highly enough of their very special establishment.

Mum moved into Chetwynd House in December 2017 shortly after the home opened. It was just in time for Christmas celebrations and a great place to be. Mum always like a cooked breakfast and she really enjoyed her egg and bacon every morning. Her room was lovely and spacious with a very comfortable fully adjustable bed. The en-suite was big enough to take a wheelchair and had a seat under the shower. Sadly mum passed away in March following a stroke 3 weeks earlier. Chetwynd was a wonderful place for mum while she was cared for and loved by all the staff.

I have no hesitation in recommending this home.

Care homes are only as good as the staff/carers that work in them and Chetwynd House has an amazing set of staff, carers, chef, cooks, cleaners, maintenance and administration etc. which only proves that the management team are very particular in employing the correct staff for the relevant jobs. I am so pleased and reassured that my sister is receiving the best care and attention possible. Thank you so much.

Having visited Chetwynd House for the first time this week I was very impressed. It's a lovely home and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There were tabletop activities going on in the lounge and everyone was enjoying themselves. The home is beautiful. I wanted to book a room. I was invited to stay for lunch which was a very tasty made pie.

This care home provides five-star care and excellent facilities. My uncle suffers from dementia and at times can be very difficult. The staff are wonderful, very kind and patient. Meals are really good. Uncle has put on a little weight! We had to wait for the home to open but so glad we did. I would have no hesitation in recommending Chetwynd House to anyone.
