other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply an agreed hourly charge for this service.

I have found all staff from those in reception to those directly involved in care, friendly, approachable and keen to help. Equally important is that mum has reported on several occasions how kind everyone is to her. The cleanliness of the resident's area always appears to be of a high standard. The
staff always ask mum if it’s a good time to clean her room. I find it difficult to be able to comment on the food that mum has as she tends to have forgotten by the time I ask her! Mum has a small appetite and the importance of plating up her food on a small, hot plate cannot be over-emphasised in the process of encouraging and actually getting her to eat. Another resident suggested to me that mum should ask for small servings. With Dementia, she may not always think or remember to do this. I am very happy that she goes to eat with the other residents. The garden and outside areas are very nice. Mum would like to see the fountain working soon!

I have found the people at Chichester Grange to be professional and welcoming, from the friendly reception at the door to the chef, the cleaning staff, management and nursing personnel. Since December, the staff have taken the best and kindest care of my parent. I have only good things to say.

All of the staff are so kind and have taken care of all the little details necessary to make my Mum feel settled into her lovely, very comfortable room and new home, during the last 4-weeks. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the decor and garden areas are particularly beautiful! The nursing staff are
also excellent so I feel very confident that my Mum is receiving excellent care. Mealtimes are sociable as residents are encouraged to eat together in the dining room, and therefore make new friends, as well as meet old local friends who they may not have seen for a few years! All facilities are spotlessly clean, with spacious corridors and communal areas, for very easy wheelchair access. After a very stressful period trying to choose the right home, I am very confident that we made the right decision!

We recently moved my great uncle into the home at very short notice and the team were fantastic at accommodating this quick move, going the extra mile to actually physically help him pack up and move as I live a long way away.


The home itself is beautifully decorated to a very high standard and every

member of staff we have met so far has been super friendly and very caring.


My great uncle seems to be having 3x 3-course meals daily and has regained his appetite and although there are fewer men than women currently, the home has already gone to some lengths to try and facilitate opportunities for him to make new friends.


One week in, so far so good!

My mother moved to the home as a new resident in December 2021 once it opened. She was swiftly welcomed to the home and enjoys every aspect of it. We were not aware that her previous caregiver had left her with pressure sores which Chichester Grange has advised us of. Along with providing a different
bed type and chair. They do care plans for residents and review them regularly, listen to their wishes, help them with their independence, and love and care for them, nothing is too much trouble. The staff are hard-working, friendly, respectful, happy and welcoming. The rooms are well-appointed and warm. Each room has its own bathroom and residents are treated at all times with respect and dignity. The care home staff are trained well and the care home is part of one of the largest care home groups Care UK. This home welcomes good and bad feedback and acts on it. They have an admin team, management team and several cleaners. The home Is spotless. All staff adhere to stringent Covid-19 guidelines. Mum is very happy.

Mum had a fall and a difficult time in the hospital, the wait time for NHS respite was up to 6-weeks so having had a look around locally in Chichester we found Chichester Grange which is on the site of an old hospice. Brand new and its facilities are excellent. The rooms are well laid out, the gardens
are beautifully landscaped, and they have a coffee shop, bar and dining rooms, all of which are great. Mum is in mainly for respite care and some nursing support. Probably my greatest praise goes towards the staff, nothing has been too much trouble and Mum, who is 94-years old is on the mend. I'm not sure what others' experience of the NHS care has been like but it was a massive relief to get Mum out of the hospital to somewhere which is more appropriately staffed to look after the elderly. I would recommend Chichester Grange.

Nikki Burke

Job Title: Home Manager

I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in Brighton in 1988, and I have been in the role of Home Manager since 2006, working for various care providers.


I worked for Care UK previously between 2012 and 2015.


When I was contacted to rejoin in 2018, I jumped at the chance to return to a provider that has a vision and values that align with my own.


As Home Manager, you need to be focused, dynamic and able to multitask but also have a vision and a sense of humour. It’s a bit like being an orchestra conductor – you need to be able to oversee different aspects of the home, whilst keeping the whole home working as one to make sweet music.


I love being part of this team, especially when we work as one. I feel proud every day knowing that we make a difference in residents’ lives.


Outside of work, I love spending time in the countryside and walking with my husband and our dog Pixie. The New Forest is my favourite place, and we often pop there for a day or an overnight trip.
