Our Dad has spent several months stuck in hospital because he needed mobility rehabilitation in order to get home. During the hospital stay, he had declined mentally and physically. Largely due to the stressful environment, he was thrown into. Cooksons Court was like a peaceful haven. Instantly he relaxed
and his overall well-being improved. He was able to make progress with it in order to successfully return home.

My Mother received fantastic care at Cooksons Court. She was very happy with Pippin Ward and was sad to leave.
Every member of staff was so kind and caring to her and also our family. We could relax and know she was fine and happy. Huge thanks to them all.

Staff were generally very helpful. The call button needs at all times to be worn around the neck, at times it was left close by but not reachable. Food at times could have been hotter. Bed comfortable. Exercise again was helpful, more perhaps required regularly. The occupational and physio staff were
all very good and kept me informed of what was happening.
Reply from Somerset Care, Somerset Care at Cooksons CourtDear Sheila, many thanks for submitting a review for Cooksons Court. I am very impressed by the standard of accommodation, the care provided to my wife, and the professional medical care provided to my beloved partner.
For the first time in many years I have begun to have some confidence and hope for an improvement in my wife's welfare and physical improvement. Prior
to hospital the service and support had been unsatisfactory.
Could I suggest that attention is paid to personal effects including clothing; items sometimes go missing or other residents' effects turn up.
Reply from Somerset Care, Somerset Care at Cooksons CourtThank you for your wonderful comments about your wife's care at Cooksons Court. We are so pleased that you are now hopeful for an improvement in her health and wellbeing. Thank you also for your feedback about the personal effects of residents. We do everything possible to take care of personal belongings, and recommend that items of clothing are labelled to ensure that they can always be safely reunited with their owner. If you have any concerns, please do speak with a member of the team who will be happy to help. Best regards, Somerset Care

Everyone has been so kind and helpful. No complaints whatsoever. I would recommend Cooksons Court to any of my friends who needed help. Thank you so much for my break, especially over Christmas, it has been a great help. What would we do without the help you provide? Thank you so much. With all my love.

Where to start? My wife spent the last months of her life here. The staff are absolutely amazing, I feel that they welcomed my wife and treated her as their family, she was loved and looked after in an amazing way from start to finish, as like myself and all other visitors. I really cant thank them
enough, so supportive and helpful, kept us all informed of day to day changes all the time, more importantly showed my wife love and care. No words can ever express how amazing the staff are, even down to the cleaners, thank you so much.

My mum has been living at Cooksons Court for nearly 5 years and sees this very much as her home - somewhere to continue living her life and not just a 'care home.' The staff are amazing across the board - always a smile, always there for the little things as well as the big things. It's difficult trusting
others to look after your loved ones on a day to day basis when you're not able to, however when we leave Mum we do so knowing she's happy and cared for.

My 86-year-old mother spent a little over a year in Cooksons Court as a resident. During this time, the entire staff showed such kindness, humour and professionalism in looking after her that I had absolutely no concerns about her day-to-day care whatsoever. Mum thoroughly enjoyed the food and often
commented on how lovely it was. Her warm, clean and comfortable room had patio door access to the well-maintained garden. The home's activities were frequent and entertaining, so much so that I had to plan my visits around them, lest Mum miss some! Sadly, Mum passed away after a short illness. The kindness, respect and compassion shown to her and the family by the staff during this stressful time was superb. I can’t thank everyone at Cooksons Court enough.

My 92-year-old mother was sent to Cookson's Court, rehab unit (Pippin) by the hospital and initially, she was very reluctant to go into 'one of those homes'. She quickly changed her mind as the staff were all friendly and helpful and the food was very good apparently. She was only there for about 10
days but in that time she changed her mind about how she would be treated and the level of service that would be provided should she ever feel the need to become a resident.

My mother really enjoyed her time Cooksons Court, she enjoyed the social side combined with the entertainment. The food was really good, if she didn't fancy what was on the menu, they would get her something different. Sadly Mum's stay was never going to be a long stay and she was very ill but the staff
were excellent with her and treated her with great care and dignity. Everlasting thanks to all the staff from my family and me.

After a successful clinical outcome at the hospital after a stroke and subsequent Covid, - Cooksons Court rehabilitation centre proved to be an excellent experience and motivator for my husband. He is now home and making daily progress.
The communal areas are spotless and homely.
The physiotherapists,
nurses, HCA‘s and office staff are friendly and reassuring.
The whole package from the amazing doctor at the hospital to Cooksons Court confirms my lifelong belief in our NHS and care services.
Thank you, everyone.

My mother has been extremely well looked after, I think she does feel very satisfied with her care. The only feedback I would say is that when she arrived here from the hospital at short notice, I was unable to be there and it would really help if relatives had a point of a designated person they can
speak to as I didn't know what the score was and didn't like to both busy staff.

Mum spent nearly two years in Cooksons but receiving nursing care. Although she suffered with advanced dementia, she always commented on her enjoyment of meals, the quality of her care and her surroundings.
We think that throughout Mum's journey from pre-admission from hospital to end-of-life care,
Somerset Care should be credited with excellent care provision.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.803)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.803) out of 10 for Cooksons Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.803 for Cooksons Court is calculated as follows: ( (295 Excellents x 5) + (61 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 361 Ratings = 4.803
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cooksons Court is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
