My Mum stayed at Dashwood Manor for two weeks in February. From the start, she was made to feel very welcome by all the staff and fellow residents and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. The care she received was first-rate, she felt safe and secure, and she particularly enjoyed spending time in the coffee
lounge and library. Altogether her experience was excellent, and we would have no hesitation in revisiting on another occasion.
Reply from Leahanne Wilkinson, Reviews Team at Dashwood ManorThank you very much for taking the time to leave us feedback about mum's and your experience at Dashwood Manor. It was lovely to see mum make herself at home and make full use of all the facilities at Dashwood Manor. It was a pleasure to get to know mum, and we hope to see you both soon. Please pop in for a drink and a cake when you are passing. Take care. Thank you for your time. Many thanks from the whole team at Dashwood Manor

My mother's stay was pleasant, the staff were helpful, pleasant and supportive. The facilities, for example, the hairdressers and the coffee shop, were a big asset. The whole care home is well-presented, clean and has a happy atmosphere. She felt safe and secure. The food could be improved with a little
imagination, but it was adequate. The dining room was very well presented. She enjoyed her stay and had conversations with other residents and staff, although more stimulating activities would have been welcome.
Reply from Leahanne Wilkinson, Reviews Team at Dashwood ManorThank you very much for taking the time to leave us positive feedback about your experience. I have passed on your feedback to the chef and the lifestyle team. We hold regular residents meeting's where the residents are asked for feedback, ideas or wish's and changes are made. The activities are based on residents wants and wishes, and varied weekly. It was a pleasure to spend time with and get to know her. Many thanks from the whole Dashwood Manor team, hope we will see you at the dog cafe.

My mother was a resident at Dashwood for nearly 3 years. She went there, initially for some respite, while waiting for her warden controlled flat to be ready. Unfortunately, she was unable to cope there, and moved into Dashwood permanently in May 2022. While she was there, she engaged with many of the
wonderful staff there. I believe she left them with a strong and lasting memory of her. As a regular visitor, I myself cannot praise the staff highly enough, particularly during her final few days and weeks. They looked after me as well as her and I never felt on my own with my emotions.

The facilities at Dashwood are very good and there's always a friendly face and some delicious baked goods on offer. I would love to single people out for special mention but don't want to leave anyone out. Those who went so far above and beyond know who they are and how much we appreciated them.

Reply from Leahanne Wilkinson, Reviews Team at Dashwood ManorThank you very much for taking the time to leave us a positive review about your experience at Dashwood Manor. It was a real pleasure to know your mum, I have missed our chats about cats and camping. Mum certainly enjoyed many of the activities, and it was lovely to grant her wish to have a tattoo of her beloved cat. We are are pleased that you felt welcomed in Mum's home, when ever you visited. Take care, you are always welcome. Many thanks from the whole team at Dashwood Manor.

My aunt has been at Dashwood Manor for just over 2 years and she is very happy there; her every need is catered for. The staff are so caring, not just to my aunt but to family members too when we visit. They respect her wishes if she doesn't want to join in on the wide range of activities laid on but
they also know which activities she'd like to attend. Housekeeping is exceptional, catering is very varied and good quality and the nursing staff are very attentive to her needs. The two Receptionists are always very welcoming and helpful, nothing is too much trouble.
All in all, I can't praise and thank Dashwood Manor staff enough; I know my aunt is in very good hands and is happy.

I cannot tell you how happy my family and I are with Dashwood Manor Care Home in Basingstoke! The minute we entered, it felt so homely. It's just beautiful outside and in - sunny, happy and well-run. What really makes Dashwood Manor different, however, is their staff, who do a wonderful job. All the
staff, from the nurses and carers to the kitchen and cleaners are so sweet, caring and committed. They treat my dad, with courtesy and dignity, and they really do want him to be well.

My dad is treated very well. He's safe, comfortable and happy at Dashwood. They do whatever it takes to treat him like he is special. The food is absolutely great at Dashwood Manor. Dashwood Manor is a very special facility where residents are treated with respect and care. And I have to say, for anyone considering a care home in Basingstoke, Dashwood Manor is a great choice. They've done a lot to help my dad, and we can't thank them enough for their exceptional treatment and care.

Since Dad arrived at Dashwood Manor mid August this year, I really cannot express my gratitude to all the care staff overseeing dads needs. It has been an extremely tough few months but the relief knowing dad is now well cared for and I can do my daily visits back to being his daughter again, is priceless.
Everyone
is very kind and willing to answer any questions we might have and we are always greeted with a smile.
The variety of meals cooked fresh every day are superb along with the complimentary coffee/cakes that are in reception. Dad has never eaten so well!
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dashwood Manor and I'm glad dad gets to call this home.

My mother has Alzheimer's and has been a resident for 2 years. As a family, we can see that she is happy and very well cared for. Dashwood provides regular activities for the residents that can be tailored to their needs. Who would believe that an 84-year-old could go ice skating in a wheelchair and
have the time of her life? That is a picture I will keep. The staff are friendly and willing to answer any questions I have. I am kept updated regularly on her health and can access/request a copy of her records at any time. I also know that they will continue to support our family as my mother's disease progresses. Dashwood truly is a home.

We have been so happy with the care that dad has received at Dashwood Manor. From the outset, all of the staff have been wonderful - from the management and admin team, all of the care staff on Kempshott, the entertainment team, the chefs, the cleaning staff - everyone contributes to making Dashwood
the great place that it is. Dad always seems happy and well looked after, has clean clothes, and immaculate clean bedsheets, and all of the care team and other staff are so kind. We feel confident that we made the right decision to entrust the care of our beloved dad to the team at Dashwood. Thank you all.

Dashwood Manor is a lovely, relaxing and well kept home for Dad who recently took up residency in the Austen Suite.
All of the staff are very friendly and helpful.
There are numerous activities and trips organised to participate in which the staff encourage.
Rooms are spacious and very well maintained
as are all areas of Dashwood Manor.
Food variety on the menu is excellent as are the complimentary drinks and snacks in the cafe!
Overall an excellent place for Dad's residency.

Overall, very happy with the care my mother is receiving, the staff are friendly and provide great care and entertainment for the residents.
My mother is a very fussy eater, and although the food options are excellent they sometimes do not meet her plain pallet.

Overall we are very pleased with the care our father receives at Dashwood. However we were dismayed with the content of his recent care plan review. It was inaccurate in many areas and we were compelled to put our concerns into writing. We received an immediate apology and the inaccuracies have now
been addressed and actions put into effect. The nursing staff are extremely caring and supportive of our father and we are very pleased we chose Dashwood among the five other homes we reviewed.

My mum has been in Dashwood since January 2022. I can honestly say that Mum has flourished since going to Dashwood. I am very aware of all the departments and people involved that it takes to achieve this.
I expected at some point that Mum would say she wanted to come away - this has never happened.
Mum loves her suite and is very content. I would also say that this is no mean feat. Mum never wanted to go into a home, but fortunately, Dashwood was built in her local area.
As Mum has had Alzheimer's for nine years, staying local helped. I always said to Mum it is more like a five-star hotel, and it is. Mum does see certain members of staff as family, and for Mum, that is an enormous accolade. I can see why.
I am beyond grateful that many of the staff, including the manager, have been there from the start. For me, knowing Mum is, and she quotes, 'happy' to relatives is invaluable. I know that Mum is always in safe hands, and I have no hesitation in stating how amazing Dashwood is to anyone.

I’ve found the admin and nursing staff to be very efficient, caring and friendly. Both the building and public areas as well as residents dining, community lounges and library rooms are of a very high standard. The quality and variety of home-cooked food created by in-house chefs who provide 2 or 3-course
meals 3 times a day 7 days a week is commendable.
Having on-site or visiting GP, physiotherapist, hairdresser and chiropodist are all worthy of mention. I am also impressed with the entertainment provided each week including a summer BBQ in the grounds for residents and their families. Also popular is a day each month when family members can bring along their dogs to refresh both the resident's and pets' memories of each other. I would especially like to thank all the nursing staff, especially the carer on the 2nd floor and the lady in reception whom I’ve had most dealings with.

My wife has dementia and has been looked after by Dashwood for at least 12 months in this home. When you enter there is a feeling of security the reception is bright and clean, the receptionist is very pleasant and organised. The whole reception area is large and one corner of it is set out like the
living room of anyone's home with a TV. Other activities go on in this room. The care staff are wonderful and their dedication is total. You can use the lift to access the upper floors or the stairs, these are accessed by using a security code. The rooms are very comfortable and well-appointed and have alarms.
The dining room is bright and airy with a good menu to suit all tastes. The patients are encouraged to take part in the many activities that go on every day. During the summer there are parties in the very extensive and well looked after gardens. The patients are taken down for a walk or in their wheelchairs.

We visited Dashwood Manor to see our lovely friend recently, and she has dementia. It was our first time visiting a care home, and we were surprised to see how beautifully managed the nursing home. The lady receptionist was very kind and took us to where our friend stayed. Everyone we met there greeted
us with a smile. Our friend looks well and clean. Even her nails are coloured with her favourite purple colour. We had nice coffee and cake on our way back in their cafe for free of charge. When the time comes, I will definitely come to this nursing home.

(1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 34 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have worked at Care UK for several years, and I have always appreciated the company’s visions and values. Their desire to help residents continue living fulfilling lives aligned with my own values.

I joined Dashwood Manor after several years as Deputy Manager at another local home. I am looking forward to being a part of the already great team at Dashwood and continuing to offer exceptional care together.

Being in a managerial role within the home requires very good listening and communication skills. You also need passion and care for the residents and the team you work with.

Each day I enjoy getting out of my office and onto the units, having the opportunity to interact with residents, relatives and colleagues.

I am excited to continue to get to know all the residents and their wonderful families.
