Very unhappy with the standard of care for my husband who was there for respite care. The home was unable to cope with the deterioration of his dementia symptoms and his stay with them turned into an ordeal for him and his family. Because of this experience, I strongly cannot recommend it for any sort
of dementia care.

I originally had Dad stay at the home for respite for two weeks as his Alzheimers had progressed meaning he was struggling at home. I thought respite would give him and me an idea of whether the time was right to move into a care home. I explained all of this to the team at Dashwood and they were fantastic
in making Dad and I feel welcome, plus have an honest unbiased assessment of his needs.
After respite ended we decided he would stay permanently and the transition was super easy with all the staff from both reception and the caregivers being amazing.
Dad has been there for 5 months now and I’m really pleased with the level of care he receives and the ease of access I have to him 24/7.
A good summary is that one of the carers explained to me that the buses to Dashwood from her house didn’t run on a Sunday morning so she had to get a taxi, but her next statement put a tear in my, she said: “but it’s worth it so see all these lovely people”. True carer!

My Mother in Law has been a resident at Dashwood Manor Care Home since October. The home offers great facilities and my Mother in Laws needs are met and she is well cared for.
All the staff have been great and do a really good job at getting to know my Mother in Law and help her settle in and engage
in life within the home.
If my own parents required care home facilities I would not hesitate to recommend Dashwood Manor Care Home to them.

I find all the staff at the home so friendly, helpful, very caring and considerate towards my father. They have taken the time and effort to learn about him and his likes and dislikes and most things are done as much as possible to keep his time there very comfortable. He also enjoys being involved
in activities that are well thought through and interesting. Very pleased with all aspects of care. Could do with better Wi-Fi though!

Our father went into full-time residential care in September 2021. He was welcomed into Dashwood Manor by friendly staff - from managers to the whole team. We have been very impressed by everyone's caring nature, treating him with dignity and understanding at all times. Everyone gives him time to express
his wishes, his fears and his choices are always acknowledged. This placement has given us absolute peace of mind knowing that he is receiving the highest level of physical and emotional care, both during the day and throughout the night. We can't thank the staff enough.

Lovely experience. Friendly staff. Great facilities, good care when needed. The broadband is not good, making communication near impossible when trying to ring via broadband.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Personal Assistant at Dashwood ManorThank you for your feedback. We are delighted with your positive comments, and we are pleased you have had a good experience with Dashwood Manor. We do apologise that you have had issues with the wi-fi. We always encourage the residents, families, and friends to share any concerns they have, so we can take the appropriate actions. We understand how important it is that the residents of Dashwood Manor can stay connected with their family and friends. Dashwood Manor’s wi-fi is set-up to ensure that the residents are given priority over the wi-fi with a secure connection. Sadly, when Dashwood Manor opened, we did experience some issues, and this was reported immediately. Care UK worked with its suppliers to resolve the issues, and to pinpoint the problem. Once the connectively issue was identified it allowed the suppliers to make the required changes. Care UK’s IT team continue to monitor Dashwood Manor’s wi-fi daily and take the appropriate action.

Dashwood Manor has been a great choice of care home for my father-in-law. He settled very well and the staff have managed to encourage him to join in with activities. We are very pleased with the home and its staff.

What can I say but thank you, thank you, thank you!

My Auntie who we care for, with late stage dementia spent 3 weeks respite in the care of Dashwood Manor her partner was very nervous letting his life partner go somewhere unknown, but he needn’t have worried. She was cared for with compassion and

love from all staff from management, carers and housekeeping staff. Her needs were met keeping her dignity at all times, when the time is right I wouldn’t hesitate in her staying here full time. The activities coordinator kept her busy with a range of activities and I can honestly say she has seemed so happy and settled.
Would highly recommend to all.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.776)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.776) out of 10 for Dashwood Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.776 for Dashwood Manor is calculated as follows: ( (275 Excellents x 5) + (59 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 343 Ratings = 4.776
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Dashwood Manor is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have worked at Care UK for several years, and I have always appreciated the company’s visions and values. Their desire to help residents continue living fulfilling lives aligned with my own values.

I joined Dashwood Manor after several years as Deputy Manager at another local home. I am looking forward to being a part of the already great team at Dashwood and continuing to offer exceptional care together.

Being in a managerial role within the home requires very good listening and communication skills. You also need passion and care for the residents and the team you work with.

Each day I enjoy getting out of my office and onto the units, having the opportunity to interact with residents, relatives and colleagues.

I am excited to continue to get to know all the residents and their wonderful families.
