I have visited my best friend’s mother several times who lives at Elmbrook Court Care Home due to my friend living abroad and my lifetime close contact with the family.
The home is stunning and I have witnessed the quality of care and obvious kindness displayed by every member of staff which I believe to be exceptional.

I have always been offered to stay for meals and I have to say I was very impressed with the choice and quality of the food.

Just wanted to say how pleased we have been with Elmbrook Court. Mother has been a resident for just over a year now, and during that time the staff have been wonderful in looking after her, and us whenever we come to visit.
The food is great, there are plenty of activities available, and everyone seems so happy.

Many thanks to all and I would highly recommend this facility.

A wonderful care home for our 96-year-old father who has always insisted that he would never go into a care home. As we, his only children (around 70 years old!) reside in Australia, we have so appreciated the care, support and communication.
He is so “content “ (his words), wonderful to see! He looks great, has his haircut and podiatry and he enjoys the company and activities and he has a lovely modern room. Freshly cooked nutritious meals make a great change from the microwaved food he was receiving at his home.
Regularly there is entertainment varying from singers to musicians to visiting farm animals including penguins on National Penguin Day!
There are also many activities the residents can participate in such as cooking, flower arranging etc. The bistro is a great place for the residents to meet up, enjoy a drink and a chat and visitors are welcome

I would definitely recommend this care home and give it more than 5 stars if I could!

I lead a bible study group at the care home and also visit friends staying in Elmbrook on a regular basis. The care home has a lovely welcoming feeling and is light and airy. I pop in on different days and times and there is often something interesting going on. It is also lovely to see staff engaging with residents on a one-to-one basis and all the staff have been very welcoming with a friendly smile.

We are so grateful for your volunteering work here at Elmbrook as we feel it is very important for those residents who have faith to be able to express this and they can with this Bible Study group. Thank you so much for your kind words.

This is care to the highest standard and above and beyond all of our family’s expectations. We would all like to spend more time with our loved ones who have dedicated their lives to us. Where that’s not possible, knowing that they are participating in daily activities and constant care gives peace of mind.

Many thanks to every member of the team at Elmbrook Court.

My first impression was very good, the staff were very friendly and efficient, the facilities were excellent. I decided this would be a great place for my Dad who needed to leave the hospital quickly but couldn’t go home. The staff put everything in place very quickly and Dad is now settled in his new home and he loves it. It’s given me a great deal of peace of mind knowing he’s so well looked after.

The staff at Elmbrook Court looked after my mum in the last 7 months of her life.
The level of compassion exhibited by the staff towards my mum was truly remarkable. The team went above and beyond to ensure her well-being and comfort. Their dedication to getting to know her created a warm and supportive environment. The staff took the time to establish meaningful connections. The residents are not just recipients of care; they are treated with dignity, respect, and a genuine affection that is truly touching. Thank you to everyone, but especially seven staff members, in particular, the carer who gave mum a doll and the ladies on reception.

After she died, I did find the experience of removing Mum's belongings traumatic, going into her room and packing her things was incredibly upsetting. If I had one suggestion, it would be establishing a form of 'aftercare' for bereaved families to help guide them in those moments.

Reply from Sam Spencer, Client Relations Manager at Elmbrook Court

After a somewhat traumatic transfer from another care home to Elmbrook. We were greeted most warmly and the room was prepared with a name on the door and a handmade welcome sign. Chocolates and a card were also received.

Everyone was warm, friendly and extremely helpful. Impressed with the menu and food. My husband was checked regularly and all staff were well-informed, efficient and kind.

My mother and father both moved into Elmbrook Court earlier this year when my father's Alzheimers became too much to cope with at home. With 60-plus years of marriage, the move to a care home was full of challenges, however, the staff at Elmbrook Court have made the transition very smooth and welcomed, both of them and have each gained a better quality of life. My mother recently celebrated her 89th birthday and has been overwhelmed with the kindness, consideration and warmth shown to her. We booked the private dining room and had a superb lunch made by the executive chef and the whole event was made memorable by staff from the reception team, activities and the kitchen and the chef!

We moved my mother to Elmbrook Court from her house in Cambridge, as she could no longer manage alone. She settled into this home surprisingly quickly and was made to feel very welcome by everyone. Although she has suffered with some bad health since her arrival, she couldn't have received better care and attention by all the wonderful staff at Elmbrook. On every visit to see Mum we, as a family, are always greeted with a smile and feel able to approach any member of staff with any problems we may need to discuss with them.

Review from L H (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 11 July 2023 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

It is a nice care home, but there are definitely areas for improvement. There used to always be cakes in the bistro, but now it just seems to be a very small selection of fresh fruit and pastries. There aren't many crisps or biscuits in the bistro either. The activities don't vary much from week to week and often, the residents on Birch are either left in their rooms or are roaming the halls, which is a shame. It would be good to see more effort being made to involve more residents in simple activities (there are great examples online of games that can be made from ordinary objects). It would also be great if music activities were spaced out over the week, as on Mondays it is ukulele in the morning and sometimes a sing-a-long in the afternoon (which also both fall on the day of hairdressing for Birch). It would also be nice to see the 'Elmbrook Arms' open for residents again. But, overall, it is a nice care home with kind and caring staff.

Reply from Sam Spencer, Client Relations Manager at Elmbrook Court

We are sorry you have had a negative experience. We take on board your thoughts. Changes are being made as we speak. From next week a new, separate activity planner will go live, tailored for our memory care residents, with more social gatherings also being planned for everyone to enjoy. Thank you for your suggestions. We appreciate your patience while we implement these changes.

I have now been in Elmbrook Court for two years and have no problems with the service in any area, other than the expense, because the staff at all levels (and the events) are extremely helpful and caring! Unfortunately, the real problem is the distance from my old land, which unfortunately cannot be changed. I wish you well in your new position.

Mum reluctantly came into the home, but at ninety-two we, her family, knew she needed support. Within weeks she had settled into a new routine. She loved her room, the environment and most of all the staff, I can’t complain about the staff, they are lovely!
The staff would always refer to Mum personally and every time we visited could talk in detail about how she had been and her latest experiences.
Despite Mum's challenging personality, the staff, (the Elmbrook family) would always find a resolution to the challenges of the day.

I am extremely proud that my mum was part of the Elmbrook family and grateful she had marvelous support to the end.

We came to the home to celebrate our grandpa's birthday. We were able to use the private dining room, the home set up a beautiful table with plates and cutlery and glasses. We were able to bring our own food in. The home couldn’t do enough for us and were so welcoming. These little moments, like having a birthday meal as a family in private, are so precious and Elmbrook has been fabulous.
