Mum spent two weeks in Elmbrook while recovering from a stroke and received excellent care. All the staff were extremely caring and went out of their way to make her feel welcome. She said that everyone worked really well as a team and that they all treated her with kindness, thoughtfulness and respect.

The managers at Elmbrook were very supportive and willing to work with us as circumstances changed. I felt confident that mum was being very well looked after and now feel reassured that, should she need more residential care in the future, the Elmbrook Team will be there to provide it.

It was my mother's birthday yesterday and all the staff at Elmbrook Court Care Home went out of their way to make the day special. The chef produced a delicious three-course meal for a family lunch in the private dining room and the catering staff were, as always, so friendly and caring. There is a wonderful family feel to Elmbrook and it was lovely to see other residents and staff come to join us for birthday cake later in the afternoon. Thank you all again for everything you do.

My 92-year-old father is staying here, he suffers from dementia. The atmosphere in the home is really nice and nothing seems too much trouble. He settled in very well and he is much calmer and engaged with us on our visits. The staff we have met are so lovely and take good care of him. The attention to detail and effort they have made with him has been outstanding. They have taken the time to get to know him and his previous life. We have enjoyed lunch in the dining room and the meal was well-prepared and tasty. Feel very happy that he is there and reassured he is in safe, caring hands.

Reply from Jim Macleod, Head of Client and Resident Experience at Elmbrook Court

My mother came to Elmbrook for respite care over the Xmas period to be near to us and our family, and she loved it. She did not know what to expect, but after a couple of days, she had settled in well and was surprised at how much she enjoyed herself! She really benefited from all the interaction with staff and residents, and the care and attention that my mother received was excellent and entirely professional. She felt very much at home and part of a wider family. Our communication with Elmbrook has also been very good, and the admissions process beforehand was very thorough and reassuring.

For the first time in a long while, my sister and I were confident that our mother was completely safe and cared for all hours of the day and night.

We visited several care homes in the area and Elmbrook really stood out. The staff and residents seemed happy and the atmosphere was good. My mother took a long time to settle, but now she has made friends with staff and residents and is much more upbeat. Elmbrook has supported both her and me through the transition. They have gone above and beyond and I can't thank them enough.

Reply from Jim Macleod, Head of Client and Resident Experience at Elmbrook Court

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words. From experience, we know that the transition to a care environment may not be easy, but with understanding and perseverance, we can get there together. It means so much to us to see our visitors leave knowing their loved ones are being looked after in a caring and courteous manner.

My mum came into Elmbrook for three weeks of respite care after a serious illness, and the care, kindness and support she received from all the staff, regardless of their role within the home, was excellent; nothing was too much trouble. As Mum grew stronger, she ventured from her room and enjoyed some meals in the dining room and a weekly trip to the hairdresser.
The process of assessment before Mum came in was quick and straightforward, so once the decision was made that Mum needed that level of care for a short period, she was admitted within days.
The staff were equally as caring towards me and my family and couldn't have been more helpful.

Thank you for caring so well for Mum and helping her on her road to recovery so she could return to her flat. Without your support and care, that process would have taken much longer without a doubt.

Reply from jim macleod, Head of Client and Resident Experience at Elmbrook Court

It was such a pleasure to look after Mum and also all the family members that came to visit. So glad that she was able to regain her strength and return home safely. Always welcome to visit at any time for a cuppa.

As a well-known quote states with the Deprivation of Liberty safeguard. A 'guilded cage is still a cage'. Elmbrook is a guilded cage. The residents need a minibus to get out to venues outside of Elmbrook - shops/nursery. So they don't feel imprisoned.

Reply from Jim Macleod, Head of Client and Resident Experience at Elmbrook Court

So very sorry that you feel this way. We are thankful for the steady growth our home has seen, which includes a repertoire of resources now available for our residents. We hope to some day in the future have our very own minibus. In the meantime, we are grateful to be able to access some excellent local amenities with our friendly local taxi company. We really appreciate your comments, thank you.

My sister-in-law has flourished since moving in in September and the food is so good that she will soon need new clothes! She enjoys the company and activities but also the option to spend time in her room or out on the patio. She loves her planters and the staff ensure her watering can is full. I am made very welcome when visiting and it is a pleasure to come.

Mum moved to Elmbrook in December last year. Both her physical health and well-being improved within weeks of being there. The staff are professional, kind, caring, and fun. It's a joy to visit Mum at Elmbrook. She is happy, content, and very well looked after. The rapport she has with the staff is lovely to see. Carers always make me feel very welcome (all staff do). Mum can choose to have a quiet morning or afternoon but is always encouraged to join in activities or coffee mornings with the other residents. The home has a good range of activities - choir, bell ringing, flower arranging, and arts and crafts. Mum also enjoys her weekly visit to the hairdresser. Mum enjoys the meals. They always look lovely and are enjoyed by all. What I am really pleased about (and so is Mum) is the friendships that she has made with the other residents. Mum has a happy and fulfilled life living at Elmbrook.

I have visited my friend regularly since Elmbrook opened. All staff have been helpful and caring at every visit. Recently a group of us enjoyed a delicious lunch in the private dining room. We were made very welcome and two of us were transported from our cars by wheelchair which made a huge difference. We wanted to pay for our meal and that was easy, at reception with a card.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us. It is a delight to have visitors especially when they dine with the residents or enjoy our bistro. This is the most amazing place for elderly care. The food is amazing and well presented. The care staff are obviously professionals and know how to care for residents in their care. They have a knowledge of ailments and how to provide the best individual care to each person. The rooms and communal areas are beyond doubt very clean and well maintained. This home is well run and provides excellent value for money.

My mother has been at Elmbrook Court Care Home for almost four months now on the memory floor. The staff have been excellent in trying to ensure she settled in well, particularly at the times she got very confused and anxious. Their patience and professionalism is very impressive.
It is reassuring to all the family that she is in good hands.

The building and facilities are modern and spacious, with activities most days. The food is of the highest quality.
