Engelhard Lodge Care Home offers residential care in the village of Cawston, only around 11 miles from Norwich. It is a 4 award winning Home.

The home has 36 bedrooms, each with en suite facilities. Residents are welcome to bring their own belongings to help them settle in to life at Engelhard Lodge, and the team will do all they can to make the move to the home as easy as possible for both residents and their loved ones.

The team of care professionals are experienced and knowledgeable, and all staff members undergo consistent training on the best care practices. They offer care for a variety of needs including dementia, mental health conditions, old age and physical disabilities, always following up-to-date, personalised care plans designed for the individual resident.

The home is all set on one floor, making it easy for residents to move around as independently as possible. There is also a lovely garden to enjoy, as well as light and bright living areas for residents to socialise or spend time with loved ones. Visitors are always welcome, and the team work hard to make sure families and loved ones are able to enjoy the time they spend together at the home.

As a family, the care and compassion shown by all staff was exceptional nothing was ever too much to ask for. All the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our mother-in-law, mother, nanny and great grandmother in the last few weeks of her life. The home was warm and welcoming , clean. On every
visit drinks were always offered to us.
The home is clearly, very well run and exceeds the CQC rating of "good". End of life care was delivered to an exceptionally high standard. We are grateful for everything.

My aunt was resident of the Englehard Lodge Care Home until she passed away in hospital.
The staff were really caring even though my aunt was not the easiest person to please. They were patient and they really took the time to carry out all her needs. They popped in for a chat when she was feeling
a bit down and soon had her laughing. They encouraged her to come out of her room and they were there with help if she needed it.
I can't thank them enough for their care and support and would recommend the care home to anyone looking for themselves or for a family member.

My father had only a short while in Engelhard Lodge before he died, but the care and love he received there and the effort the manager and staff went to in order to accommodate his needs were well beyond my expectations. I only wish he had overcome his fear and agreed to live there much sooner. The
home is fresh and clean with a very welcoming atmosphere, if I ever need to go into a care home myself I would love it to be this one. My family and I were particularly impressed by the food provided and the varied menu. We also appreciated that the carers treat residents with great politeness, respecting their privacy and dignity.


I was so glad that my dad was able to die peacefully in such a warm, friendly, place with excellent care rather than in hospital. I asked him two days before he died if he felt safe and happy there and he replied. "Oh yes!" We are all thankful to this lovely home.

My mother in law was a resident at Engelhard Lodge Care Home for over two and a half years and in all her time there we were confident to leave her in their care. She was happy there and even with her progressive dementia she was treated with genuine love, respect and care. We were able to visit her
at any time and always informed and included in any decision making about her well being. When she died, the respect and love shown for her and to the family was genuine and moving.

I have used Engelhard Lodge Care Home for respite care for my husband, who has dementia, for over three years now and always feel he is in safe place that will look after him whilst I catch up with some rest. The rooms are always clean and the staff are very pleasant when we visit.

This care home provides a clean hygenic and vibrant environment like no other I have seen. The staff are outstanding. They are polite, helpful, cheerful and professional and very attentive. They wear uniforms and are well presented.
My mum was moved here a few months ago and she has thrived being
in a calm caring atmosphere. However, it is not only my mum that has thrived, but for myself I feel 100% supported by everyone I speak to and any queries or concerns are always met in a supportive understanding manner and dealt with quickly.
I no longer have to worry about my mum and whether she is getting the care every human deserves because I know she is.
I feel that the staff listen to me as much as they do her and the change in her proves to me that the move was the right thing for all of us. I am so pleased to have been recommended this care home.

The care home was chosen at speed after a referral from social services for respite. However having made the hasty decision over placement we realised that the care home far exceeded our expectation. I have worked in the care environment and been employed by a large care provider in the past. This care
home is good for a number of reasons.
Firstly security; Staff members are mindful who they allow to enter and leave, never allowing the security door codes to be known. We are asked who we wish to see and they are mindful of the residents wishes. They accompany us to the correct area or room our cousin is to be found. A sign in register is kept and encouraged.
I have not seen the food presented at meal times but our cousin is very happy with the standard and variety available. She has a complicated digestive medical condition which seems to be managed well and is hydrated well.
Care home environment smells pleasant and constant cleaning is evident. Her room is of adequate size.

Lovely friendly home. My mum has been at Engelhard Lodge Care Home for 18 months. She is always clean and tidy in appearance and is well looked after. Staff are very caring and her health and well being has improved since she moved in. I never have to worry if she is being well looked after as during
my visits she herself speaks highly of the staff and all they do for her.

Mum moved in on 6th October and has now settled in with the outstanding care, food, hygiene and staff politeness.
The home stood out a mile when me and my brother first inspected in September and the way everything was smooth and mum's welcome has made us feel relieved and content. No more stressing
if mum was alright at home on her own.
There is such a big smile on mum's face when we visit and not just glad to see us but always saying what a wonderful place and staff.
Everyone who goes there loves it too and I and everyone have nothing but praise. We all look forward to visiting again.
The day rooms and bedrooms are so so clean too.

Excellent, friendly staff always make me feel welcome whenever I visit. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and mum tells me that the food is very good and it is like living in a hotel. The garden has been landscaped and has plenty of seating and is easily accessible to everyone.

I deal with a lot of care homes in my professional career and naturally I come across homes of all standards. I am pleased to say that Englehard Lodge ranks (in my opinion) as one of the top homes that I have to deal with. My friend is always treated with care, respect and dignity. The communication
between the care home and myself is always great. I am kept up to date, it is easy to come and visit my friend and I love receiving the newsletter so I can keep up with what is happening in the home.

The staff are always cheerful and friendly - towards my mum and towards me when visiting. My mum has very changeable moods and can be aggressive at times. They handle this with understanding and professionalism, for which I am very grateful. The home is always immaculately clean. Two big signs of a
well run care home - no bathroom smells and happy staff.
The owner has spent a lot of money improving the garden these last few months and it has become a great asset - one that we all look forward to enjoying more of in the better weather. The owner is also very approachable - willing to take on board any requests etc. My mum recently had her 100th birthday and the manager went to a lot of trouble to ensure it went as well as could have been hoped for.

Our mum is now about to start her third year at Englehard Lodge and is still loving it. In her words, "It's like a 5 star hotel". Everyone is so friendly and all the staff are very professional as well as being like a family. There's plenty for Mum to do, from flower arranging, crafts and cooking along
with games or just reading or watching TV in her room. We now have the peace of mind that she is being well looked after 24/7, and also can visit her far more often. Thank you to all.

Since being a resident, my mother has become much more settled and stable in her behaviour. She doesn't need to worry about the day-to-day issues of fending for herself, in an environment that is safe secure, and cares for her needs perfectly. Engelhard Lodge is the best care home I could have ever wished for my mother - without them I am certain she would be in a different place now.
The management team and staff are exceptional and I cannot fault them or the care home. It is very clean and very tidy and we always get a warm welcome when
the family visit.
If only all care homes were like this, it would be perfect.

My husband has lived at Engelhard Lodge for the last two months and is likely to remain there permanently and I cannot praise the manager and her staff enough for the excellent care given to him. My husband and I have been married for nearly 55 years and it has been hard for us to be separated after
all that time. However, it has been made easier for us by the care shown to us both by all the staff. Nothing is too much trouble. My husband and the home are kept spotlessly clean and the food is excellent. The staff always have time for us and all our family when they visit. I cannot praise them enough.

It is a warm and welcoming environment. I am impressed by the standard of cleanliness which is evident day to day. The residents seem very happy and enjoy a varied amount of activities based on their abilities and needs.
The staff are kind and friendly and are always able to answer any of my queries
or concerns.
My mum who has dementia, especially enjoys all her meals, which are always very good.
Mum's room is comfortable and tastefully decorated and with her favorite picture on the wall and family photos around, it does feels very homely.
