Engelhard Lodge Care Home offers residential care in the village of Cawston, only around 11 miles from Norwich. It is a 4 award winning Home.

The home has 36 bedrooms, each with en suite facilities. Residents are welcome to bring their own belongings to help them settle in to life at Engelhard Lodge, and the team will do all they can to make the move to the home as easy as possible for both residents and their loved ones.

The team of care professionals are experienced and knowledgeable, and all staff members undergo consistent training on the best care practices. They offer care for a variety of needs including dementia, mental health conditions, old age and physical disabilities, always following up-to-date, personalised care plans designed for the individual resident.

The home is all set on one floor, making it easy for residents to move around as independently as possible. There is also a lovely garden to enjoy, as well as light and bright living areas for residents to socialise or spend time with loved ones. Visitors are always welcome, and the team work hard to make sure families and loved ones are able to enjoy the time they spend together at the home.

My wife has been resident in the care home for over a year now suffering with dementia and related issues and the care that she has received has been excellent. The home is run by very friendly staff and as a visitor I have always been made very welcome.

I have been so grateful for the highest standard of care, commitment and kindness shown to my father during his stay with Engelhard Lodge. Nothing was ever too much trouble and he was treated with respect and dignity during his stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending this wonderful care home
to anyone, which I felt was more like extended family.

The diligence and care shown by all staff was high at all times and I felt assured of the care my father received. As a dementia resident with good mobility, this can be challenging for staff. The staff at Englehard kept me informed of how he was and how they accommodated him within the home.

Mother appears happy and well cared for. She is settled and looked after with care. When I visit I can see her positive response to the staff and there appears be reciprocal affection. When I ask her how she feels living at the home, she tells me the staff are kind.
I am always contacted promptly when
there are any concerns for her health and well being.
Because I live so far away the monthly newsletters with photos are gratefully received.

My aunt entered the care of the manager and staff of Englehard Lodge in May 2024. This was a difficult move for my aunt and close family but the staff at the home made the transition warm and welcoming. They gave my aunt the time to settle at her own pace and kept us informed of her progress each day
which gave us all peace of mind.
My aunt settled quickly, enjoying the space and company of those around her, on our visits she let us know she was content and would tell us that she was happy and people were nice!
Over the last 7 months we have all been treated as family and made to feel welcome in our visits.
The home is warm and friendly and the cleanliness is 100%. The residents are well cared for and food is excellent, they are kept busy with activities and they have lovely areas to sit and enjoy. During the summer the gardens have been updated to a beautiful environment which is user friendly for all.
I am happy to recommend this home to anyone.

The manager and her team - and all the staff have been outstanding in looking after our mother this last year following her stroke. Especially in the last few weeks at the end of her life, they were extremely caring and compassionate. The home is bright, airy and cheerful and the residents always seem
occupied is some form of recreation, and the gardens are now a beautiful and quiet space. We couldn't have asked for her to be in a better home and are extremely grateful for all the help and care we received during a difficult time. Thank you.

On sourcing Engelhard Lodge we went and visited and met the care home manager. We felt a great warmth idyllic feeling. The home was spotless, with no horrible smells. On being shown around meeting very happy smiling and chatty residents. We were impressed. The rooms were amazing, we chose one for Dad
out of 2 vacant rooms which offered all his needs, warm and spotless and home from home. Dad joined the family at Engelhard where sadly only lived for 3 weeks, he settled in, all staff loved him. Thank you to all the staff for looking after Dad, we are in your debt.

The Staff at Englehard Lodge did a magnificent job of looking after my mum when she was in their care, we were made to feel very welcome when we visited and still are to this day. The lovely staff looked after my dad for the last 6 months of his life. We were always made to feel welcome and it became our second home. Right until the end, the team were amazing making sure that dad was always clean and comfortable. I cannot recommend Engelhard Lodge Care Home enough.

Engelhard Lodge is a fantastic Care Home and I highly recommend it, it is situated in the Norfolk countryside away from the pollution of the towns and cities. The atmosphere is friendly and it is a home-from-home for all the residents. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner plus snacks are all freshly prepared
and there are three choices on the menu plus tea, coffee and other refreshments are available all day. Every day there are different occupational things to do to keep the residents occupied.
All the residents have their own rooms with en suite facilities and a television. All the carers and staff are helpful and give all the love and care to each and every resident.

Our family is extremely pleased with the care my grandmother is receiving at Engelhard Lodge. Unable to cope alone, she has settled in quickly and is making the care home her own. She eats well and is occupied with the various activities going on. The staff are friendly and always helpful, I am issued
with tea and biscuits every time I visit. The home feels relaxed and organised, and most of all my grandmother is very happy living there.

My mother arrived at Engelhard Lodge for respite care after a fall as she was unable to look after herself as she also had other medical issues. Unfortunately, she deteriorated (it was expected) Mum could be difficult at times as she wanted to stay in her own home. We were lucky to have them. My sister
and I knew she was in safe hands right up to her last days. kinder people you couldn't find. We both thank everyone at Engelhard Lodge for all their care up to and including mum's last days and would definitely give them ten out of ten.

Having visited quite a few homes over the years I can assure you that this is without a doubt one of the best. My sister has dementia and alzheimer's and can be very demanding and constantly test your patience. The two years she has resided at Engelhard Lodge over our weekly visits we have encountered
from management to the cleaners nothing but top-class service, care and kindness. My wife and I are so grateful to all the staff for their devotion doing such a stressful and difficult job.

My mother’s partner was a resident at Engelhard Lodge. He was unable to live alone after my mother passed away. The family did not want him to go to a care home but were unable to care for him 24/7. After our visit to Engelhard Lodge, we thought that he would hopefully be happy there. We were not wrong,
he settled in straight away and was very happy there. Unfortunately, he passed away and the care he received was amazing, could not have asked for better care. We still visit, as the staff are like family to us. The manager and staff do an amazing job and would highly recommend the place to people who have parents or relatives that need good care. Great place. Booked my room.

My Nanny has been here a couple of years and has had excellent care. Our large family have always been made to feel very welcome in the plentiful visits she’s had. Her room is warm, private and comfortable and all her needs are attended to quickly and efficiently.
We have even managed to have celebrations
at the home for her birthday which means the world to her and also her family and friends.
I couldn’t think of anywhere better for her to be cared for at this stage of her life.

My mother spent her final year at Engelhard Lodge, and she was extremely happy there. The home itself is light and airy, and always spotlessly clean, But it is the staff who make this care home outstanding, they are wonderful. Not only do they provide a safe environment for residents, but they do so
in a loving, caring way - nothing is too much trouble for them. My mother was eating very little when she first arrived, but with a great deal of patience and kindness, her carers coaxed her to begin eating again. And the meals there are really good! Residents can choose to take part in a range of activities each week, and the local community often take part as well. Families and visitors are always made welcome and are always offered tea/coffee when they arrive. In other words, a real home from home. I will be forever grateful to this special team of people that my mother was so comfortable and well-cared, and that her last days were dignified and peaceful.

My Mum continues to receive excellent care at Engelhard Lodge. She was one of the very first residents when it opened and has been supported as her health has slowly deteriorated. I take great comfort from the fact that she is generally calm and contented in her confused state - which is I think in
large part due to the very calm environment in which she is looked after. I'm always welcomed warmly when I visit and really appreciate how clean and modern the home is. Care homes I have seen in the past always had a fairly clinical feel, but Engelhard gives the vibe of a bed and breakfast which is much more warm and welcoming.
