Engelhard Lodge Care Home offers residential care in the village of Cawston, only around 11 miles from Norwich. It is a 4 award winning Home.

The home has 36 bedrooms, each with en suite facilities. Residents are welcome to bring their own belongings to help them settle in to life at Engelhard Lodge, and the team will do all they can to make the move to the home as easy as possible for both residents and their loved ones.

The team of care professionals are experienced and knowledgeable, and all staff members undergo consistent training on the best care practices. They offer care for a variety of needs including dementia, mental health conditions, old age and physical disabilities, always following up-to-date, personalised care plans designed for the individual resident.

The home is all set on one floor, making it easy for residents to move around as independently as possible. There is also a lovely garden to enjoy, as well as light and bright living areas for residents to socialise or spend time with loved ones. Visitors are always welcome, and the team work hard to make sure families and loved ones are able to enjoy the time they spend together at the home.

In my professional life, I come across many care homes and a lot of them do not provide the high level of service that the manager and her team do at Engelhard Lodge. I am constantly impressed by the level of care and attention they pay to, not only the care of my relative but also to the communication
with myself as one of the family members. The care team are a credit to the manager and I am always kept fully informed and welcomed into the home whenever I visit.
Please keep up the good work and I hope the home carries on going from strength to strength.

My Mother moved into Engelhard Lodge in May 2023, Mum had Alzheimer's disease. Thankfully due to the exceptionally high standards of care, patience and professionalism of the registered manager/owner and her staff, Mum settled well. From a personal viewpoint, I had searched for a home for Mum for a
very long time, visited and discussed Mum's needs with a total of 17 homes throughout Norfolk.
My first visit to Engelhard Lodge was a revelation, I could see that everyone was actually enjoying each other's company, staff and residents alike; there was a total sense of home about the place. The foyer is full of people chatting and laughing, a content, diverse and happy community. The rooms were bright, fresh, cleaned and fitted to a high standard, but not clinical. The efforts made to understand our family's background were remarkable, it was this effort that truly allowed staff to understand Mum, her complex needs, and to give me the peace and faith I needed to leave her care to others.

My mother has been a resident at Engelhard Lodge for over 2 years. Her care has been consistently excellent and all the staff without exception are caring and deal with her increasing needs well. My mother is becoming very difficult at times and as a retired nurse, I am impressed with the manner her
mood swings and occasionally aggressive behaviour are managed.
I am also kept informed of any particular problems which I really appreciate and I have always felt that Engelhard Lodge is exactly what its name states - a Care Home. I am truly grateful to the manager and her staff for the care and attention they give all their residents - thank you.

Mum has Alzheimer's and can be difficult at times, she is well cared for at Engelhard Lodge. Fantastic manager and excellent staff. I don't live locally and only get to see mum once a month. It's very reassuring that Mum is well cared for comfortable and safe I can't thank everyone enough.

My mum has lived at the care home for over a year and a half and has been so well looked after. The carers are always friendly and helpful and have encouraged her to make the most of her new situation. The most challenging parts are when there are covid cases and the home is closed to visitors but I
appreciate the need for isolation and it is amazing how well all staff manage these difficult times. More usually the access for friends and family is so open and welcoming, making a lovely positive atmosphere.
Given that they are catering for the needs of elderly vulnerable people it is an amazingly fresh, clean environment enabling my mum to feel safe and supported day and night.

My mother has now been happily living at Engelhard Lodge for one year. The care she receives is outstanding - her quality of life is so much better than she could ever have living alone at home. Her health and wellbeing have improved in the time she has lived in this lovely home - she had arrived quite
poorly, underweight and struggling with the stresses of everyday life. That has all changed for the better - she is thriving, enjoying the social contact and activities at the home. The accommodation and food are excellent and every consideration is given to individual needs. Engelhard Lodge really does feel like a family home and my mum definitely feels a part of that. Visiting is always a joy, we are welcomed and made to feel part of 'the family' too! We receive monthly newsletters detailing activities and events and showing photos of the residents, who are all clearly happy. We could not have wished for a better home for our mum. Thank you to everyone at Engelhard Lodge.

My mother has been at Engelhard for about six months. My sisters and I have had nothing but positive experiences. The staff and administrators are caring, diligent, sensitive to the needs of residents with one or more of the dementias, and responsive to us. Staff learn the idiosyncrasies of residents
and work thoughtfully with them, and, as far as I can see, always treat them with respect. The Engelhard team also has a sense of humour, a vitally important component of the care package. The food is excellent and the medical and social services linkages well-organized. The facilities are clean and well-maintained. The newsletter is informative, inclusive, and well-written. It is a great relief to know that our mother is well cared for and in a safe, respectful, and cost-effective manner.

My mum went to Engelhard Lodge in February 2023. My sister and I were very impressed with the friendliness of all the staff and how clean the home was. It took Mum a while to get used to her stay but eventually, she settled into the routine. The staff were extremely helpful and caring. They had lots
of laughs. The food was very good and Mum especially enjoyed Friday's fish and chip night! I was concerned that Mum would be on her own at the end of life but was assured that wouldn’t happen and they were true to their word. They sat with her in her last hours, which was a comfort. I would have no hesitation in recommending anyone to stay at this extremely friendly and caring home.

Very good personal attention for both the resident and the family. Extremely flexible on what service they will provide to suit the needs of the resident. Well, what can I say that I haven’t already in the last review? This home has been so helpful to my mother-in-law since she moved into the home in February 2022 mum has dementia. And since she has been in the home the staff have really helped her deal with the condition that she faces. I and her son
couldn’t wish for a better home and all the staff who look after her in our eyes this home would score 10 out of 10 and our hats go off to every one of the staff at Englehard.

I cannot recommend this care home enough. From the care to the personal attention to my uncle who was like a father to me over the months that he was in this home. The staff are fantastic. and so very attentive to all details of care and have a knowledge and expertise that I have not encountered anywhere
else.


I would wish to book in there myself for my latter years. I felt safe and loved and cared for and the place is immaculate and the food is fantastic too!

Wonderful place, care and compassion. Looking after the residents is outstanding.
Since my mum has been in Engelhard she has improved with her memory, and the spark has come back to her that she had lost for a while. Mum tells us about the chef who serves delicious meals. On all visits the general
feel is warm and inviting, when I leave I know Mum is being well looked after.

My brother was transferred to Engelhard Lodge following a period of assessment in hospital rehab. I had prepared for this by visiting local residential care homes beforehand and was impressed by the compassionate, personalised care that appeared to be on offer there. I was not disappointed. My brother
was admitted at the end of June with a multitude of health problems, including Alzheimer's. Despite the hospital's recommendation for residential care, the home manager was initially very uncertain whether they would be able to meet his complex needs. However, with a high level of staff support, characterised by sensitivity and compassion, the home went out of their way to care for him. He grew very fond of the staff and felt at ease with them. They always welcomed family visits and they communicated closely with the family as his health deteriorated. When he was close to death, some 6 weeks following admission, the care home manager sat with him holding his hand till his peaceful end.

My stepdad is in Englehard Lodge Care Home. He didn’t want to go into a home but because social services couldn’t provide the care he needed we had to choose a home for him. We visited Englehard Lodge Care Home and the manager was amazing, she gave us a tour of the home and it was immaculately clean.
The care home didn’t have any smells apart from freshness. I’ve been a carer for 30-years and I’ve never seen such a perfect home to put my stepdad in. The staff are absolutely wonderful and my stepdad is so happy there, he loves it.

My mother-in-law has been in Englehard Lodge Care Home since coming out of hospital in February 2022 and the staff have been fantastic with her, she has settled in really well. Everyone there is so friendly and welcoming, the home is really clean and she gets a good selection of food which she likes.
Her bedroom is really spacious and clean. She always has a good word for all the members of staff that work there.

My stepfather has been at Engelhard Lodge for just over a month now and the transformation in him is very noticeable. In his previous care home, he was quite withdrawn and did not show much propensity to interact with others. Since being at Engelhard he is much more responsive and alert and even his

My father, unfortunately, had to move into care due to needs and declining health. The staff have been extremely understanding and supportive towards my father as his needs have been quite challenging health-wise but on the account of the staff's dedication and compassion my father's health has slowly
improved. I feel the manager along with all staff have been understanding, supportive, honest, genuine, and friendly right from start. The home is extremely clean along with decor being pleasant and inviting. I would to thank every member of staff along with the manager for their continuous support and dedication.
