My father has recently passed away. For the last three years, he was cared for on the dementia Radnor at Folkestone Care Centre. He was looked after with great dignity, and extreme care and very well looked after. The staff are amazing and make you feel very welcome. We would like to thank them all
for their care and the way they gave my dad the extreme care he needed, right up to the very end.
Reply from Julie Ness, Marketing at Folkestone Care CentreThank you for such lovely comments, your father was a much loved member of our Opus family having been with us since we opened, he will be greatly missed. Our heartfelt condolences at this sad time. We hope to welcome you and your lovely family back to visit us in the future so we can reminisce on the happy times we all spent together.

My mother has been at Folkestone Care Centre since July 2020. She has been looked after well through a variety of situations, both relating to Covid and her own changing health. The staff here helped her a great deal.

Wonderful two weeks of respite, staff very friendly and helpful. I was very worried as this was my first visit but I was made very welcomed and introduced to the other residents. Will go back again for respite if the need arises. Keep up the excellent work ladies and gents.

Very good service, always keep me in the loop with things that happened.
The only problem I have is with contacting on the phone. Trying to book visits, no reception at weekends. I understand there is a problem with the phone lines.
Reply from Julie Ness, Marketing at Folkestone Care CentreThank you for your review, we're delighted you are pleased with the care service we provide. We also appreciate your feedback on contacting the home by phone, particularly over the weekends and we are actively looking into ways to improve this.

I think Folkestone Care home is outstanding; they are kind, caring and thoughtful towards the patients and families. I would recommend this to anyone and am so pleased with the time put into my grandad and grandma. Absolutely amazing. Massive credit to all the hard-working carers! 10/10,

Mum was moved into the care home from another care home that I was not happy with. After the initial period of adjustment, Mum started to look so much brighter and was so complimentary about the Staff and her surroundings. Her room was bright and beautifully furnished with a lovely ensuite bathroom.
Her meals were of a very high standard and the resident's dining room and lounge are very welcoming. All of the staff have been so very kind and polite and any concerns I have raised have been dealt with promptly. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

Not having a basic small television in place in the bedrooms seems out of modern times. A choice of blankets or a duvet was offered in a telephone conversation, a client was chosen. but the care centre did not stock them. We supplied our own as that is what my husband used at home. Otherwise, as a caring
family we are very pleased we used Folkstone Care Centre.
Reply from Julie Ness, Marketing at Folkestone Care CentreThank you for taking the time to provide your review, we're pleased you were very happy with the care that we provide. Regarding TVs we find that residents prefer to bring their own which they are familiar with but we would happily supply a spare TV if one is available. Concerning the bed linen - thank you for bringing this to our attention, we are grateful for the feedback and will look further into this.

Moving mum from another care home was a really difficult decision, but I am glad that we did. The home is well set out, and the staff have been brilliant with mum. Although there was a period of settling in to be done, this has happened and now mum seems happier. Unfortunately mum still has days of
being bored, but that is mostly due to her having difficulty making friends. Once all the entertainment is back I am hoping she will mix more with the residents and start to feel happier. The staff are always very polite and make you feel welcome. Would certainly recommend this home for your older relatives.
Reply from Julie Ness, Marketing at Folkestone Care CentreThank you for your kind comments, the team will be delighted to hear that you are pleased with how your mum is settling in. Our wellbeing team have lots of activities planned over coming weeks and months which should help her connect with other residents and find companionship which is so valuable. It's a pleasure to look after your mum and we welcome you all to our extended family.

Mum was moved into care once it became impossible for the family to continue caring for her at home. Having used the home before for my grandmother, I had no hesitation in trusting them to look after Mum. The staff are always kind and caring, and nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are fantastic, as
are the facilities, although Mum is unable to sadly participate in the activities. Definitely 5-star.

My experience with the above-mentioned care home has always been very good. The staff are always very professional, and nothing is too much trouble. Mum went into the home in April, originally as respite as she suffers from Alzheimer's, but we realised very quickly that she was in the best place, sadly
in October she suffered a stroke and has now been moved to the nursing ward as she is now bed-bound. The staff are very patient with her, as it can take a while for her to eat her meals, and she is always very clean and well presented when we go to visit.
Reply from Julie Ness, Marketing at Folkestone Care CentreThank you, it's a pleasure to care for and support your mum. It means so much to the team to hear your kind words as we continually strive to offer the best care and companionship to our lovely residents.

My wife has been a resident since April 2021, when she was admitted with acute Alzheimer's disease, and I was unable to care for her at home as she required 24/7 care.
They have been fantastic, and when she suffered a brain haemorrhage and stroke after a period in hospital, she was readmitted to their
nursing wing, where she continues to receive excellent, professional care.
The staff are kind, attentive and very caring.
Reply from Julie Ness, Marketing at Folkestone Care CentreThank you; it's our privilege to support you and your wife during this time. Our mother was cared for over a seven-month period, and from the first day to sadly her last, all the staff treated her with dignity, patience and respect. All my family would have to say regarding the kindness and care shown to our mother. Old age and all it brings is cruel and degrading, the ministrations
mother received was as if angels had materialised just for her. Thank you from all of us!

My husband was admitted to Folkestone Care Centre in January 2020. He had been before twice for respite and that is the place where he was happy. From day one he was happy and smiling, doing activities and having a varied life with good food that he always enjoyed. He liked the carers and the carers
liked him. He was respected and treated with kindness and he appreciated a good sense of humour. His condition of Parkinsons-Dementia deteriorated and got to the final stages at the time of the Covid-19 lockdown and my husband was dying and died on 3rd April 2020. We were treated with humanity and compassion always.

The staff are warm and friendly. The home is always very clean and never smells, rooms are always clean and the food is very good. I always say its more like a hotel than a care home. There are always activities going on. I am always informed if anything is wrong with my mother, and her hair has never
looked better as they have a hairdresser there.

We were so impressed with the Folkestone Care Centre.
It has a hotel feel, with a professional reception welcome and as it was our first visit; we were taken to our friend’s room.
We were given a tour of the building and garden, and every staff member that we met was friendly and helpful. We finished
our tour with tea and cakes served to us in the dining room.
During our visit, our friend received a physiotherapy session, which has already made such a difference to our friend’s confidence and well being.
The facilities are excellent and maintained to a very high level of cleanliness.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.846)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.846) out of 10 for Folkestone Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.846 for Folkestone Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (311 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 358 Ratings = 4.846
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Folkestone Care Centre is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 110 registered maximum number of service users is 22, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
