Greenan Manor is the newest Meallmore care home to open in Doonfoot, Ayr (January 2021). Greenan Manor boasts an array of beautiful coastal views across Ayr Bay to the Isle of Arran, yet is only 3 miles from the centre of Ayr.

The facilities at Greenan Manor are of an extremely high standard. The brand new building will provide exceptional standards of care in a warm, homely environment. Greenan Manor’s seaside location is reflected in the interior design of some of the communal rooms, helping to bring the outdoors in. The tasteful décor and attention to detail in the interiors creates a relaxed ambience which creates a truly luxurious feel.

Residents can choose from a selection of films to watch in the cinema room, visit the hair and beauty salon for various treatments or relax in one of the many quiet areas.

Greenan Manor's highly trained and experienced carers and qualified nurses are on hand to deliver 24 hour personalised care, and work closely with GPs and community services to promote health and wellbeing.

They work closely with the Care Inspectorate and Health Protection Scotland to constantly improve services and maintain commitment to quality. They follow rigorous infection control procedures to ensure residents and staff remain safe. Greenan Manor has exceeded my expectations in terms of the speed with which Mum settled in. The staff have been brilliant and no stone is left unturned in terms of finding the medication that works for her, food to tempt her and keeping me informed of her progress. The food looks delicious and the home
is beautiful. However, it is the nursing and care staff that have undoubtedly been the greatest asset in Mum's transition.

I really cannot fault Greenan Manor. The staff I meet when visiting my mother are always polite, friendly and professional. My mother has told me the food for breakfast, lunch and dinner is superb with different choices every day and the standard of care she receives is second to none. The location
of the care home is just wonderful overlooking the whole of the bay. The cleanliness of the reception area, corridors, cafes and dining rooms is just perfect.

Greenan Manor is a beautiful home from home, spotlessly clean and well maintained. Being custom-built, the rooms are spacious and have ensuite wet rooms. My mum has been living there for 6 months and her care has been outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, who have not only welcomed
Mum into the home but have also made us as a family feel like part of their community. The activities for the residents are varied and inclusive, and the choice of meals is good. I can't speak highly enough of the staff who are all so very kind and attentive.

My aunt has been in Greenan Manor for six weeks respite. She settled in very quickly and has no complaints about anything. The staff are friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much bother. The clients are encouraged to join in the daily activities of which there is a wide variety of choices. Greenan
has a very homely feel to it. Extremely happy with all aspects of care given.

On the whole, we have had a positive impression and experience from Greenan Manor. However, my mum cannot walk unaided and has often said she feels forgotten, especially when she was in isolation e.g. last to be taken to the dining room or not taken along for activities. Activities often seem not to
take place, staff seem very busy/short-staffed with little time to actually spend with residents. The standard of nursing care has been very good. Communication of visiting rules is sometimes difficult.

Thank you, Catriona, for taking the time to review our home. I fully understand how difficult the isolation period is for people when they need to self-isolate. Sadly, as your mum had been identified as a close contact of a visitor, the HPS guidelines are that she needed to be isolated. We always try to make this as easy as possible for them. We have an activity coordinator in the home for four days a week, who asks our residents whether they would like to take part in the activities. We have an excellent intergenerational and community connection which our residents are always keen to take part in. The visiting guidance is sent out to all families as they are updated, if you feel they are unclear, I am more than happy to discuss them or any other matters with you. We take pride in ensuring all our residents receive the best care, in the best environment, and would like to make sure this is always consistent.

Beautifully furnished home in a lovely setting with views of the sea. The rooms are spacious and the facilities are great. Staff very welcoming, friendly and very professional. Very high standard of nursing care. Great choice of menus and excellent quality of meals. My friend could ask for anything
and her requests were granted. Very high standard of infection control in these very difficult times.

Mum moved into Greenan Manor in August 2021. A lovely modern home. Spotlessly clean with fantastic views over Ayr Bay and friendly attentive staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Comfortable rooms and excellent food. A few days after she moved it was mum's birthday and the staff put on a lovely
birthday lunch complete with balloons, cake, wine and music. Mum loved it and said it was the best birthday she'd had in a while! As the home is brand new there are only a few residents just now but as word gets out on how good it is I'm sure this will change.

Delighted with our choice of care home for our aunt. Feels like a 5-star hotel/clean, lovely decor. Staff have been universally lovely, helpful, sensible and a pleasure to deal with. Communication has been good, I feel ‘ kept in the loop’. My aunt seems settled, even although unrealistically, she wants
to be in her own home. She is being very well looked after.

The staff are very informative about my mum's condition and if a doctor is required, they will discuss that with us. I find the staff very friendly which reflects the mood of the care home, especially during the Covid pandemic. They are very attentive to my mum's needs and as purpose-built every facility
available.

No complaints at all, always made very welcome. The staff are very polite and courteous. Outside the building very attractive, superb location with facilities to sit out in the fresh air and enjoy the view. Gardens in the early stages will look stunning once established. The rooms are very spacious
with great toilet and wet room facilities. One criticism the furniture in the bedroom dark and a bit drab.

Staff are very helpful. Telephone facilities are very bad. Telephone cable jack situated on desk - not near bed or chair. Very bad insulation or planning. No part available to connect phone for over 6 weeks, no interest by head office IT in problem. Local staff very helpful. No communal activities organised.

As a new Home, we have experienced some unexpected challenges that can not always be as swiftly resolved as we all would wish and I appreciate your patience and working with us to learn from such difficulties. We now have an experienced, full-time Activities Coordinator working with our residents and the care team and we can offer individual and small group activities daily. The majority of activities have been individualised due to Covid-19 isolation restrictions for new residents, personal choice and as a new Home, gradually increasing admissions of new residents, numbers to engage in group activities have been limited. We recently appointed a full-time and experienced Activities Coordinator who is engaging well with our residents, the team are facilitating small group activities that offer increased social contact amongst our residents. We're particularly aware of the challenges for our new residents due to the current Covid-19 isolation period, and our care and hospitality team make great efforts to get to know individual residents and tailor activities to their preferences and promote wellbeing and lessen the sense of isolation during this time.

Apparently, my mother is being treated well and she loves the room and the facilities. She gets on well with the staff and vice versa. She enjoys the meals and the freedom she is given. Also she likes the view and the ability to sit outside in the warm weather.
