Greenan Manor is a most impressive establishment. Staffed by carers and administrators who have been accordingly kind and attentive to my needs and difficulties, always willing to resolve any problems to my satisfaction. The residents have been welcoming and cheerful, and I have enjoyed participating in the activities with them and the care team.

My aunt has been in Greenan Manor for six weeks respite. She settled in very quickly and has no complaints about anything. The staff are friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much bother. The clients are encouraged to join in the daily activities of which there is a wide variety of choices. Greenan has a very homely feel to it. Extremely happy with all aspects of care given.

Overall Experience

On the whole, we have had a positive impression and experience from Greenan Manor. However, my mum cannot walk unaided and has often said she feels forgotten, especially when she was in isolation e.g. last to be taken to the dining room or not taken along for activities. Activities often seem not to take place, staff seem very busy/short-staffed with little time to actually spend with residents. The standard of nursing care has been very good. Communication of visiting rules is sometimes difficult.

Reply from Elaine Hughes, Home Manager at Greenan Manor

Thank you, Catriona, for taking the time to review our home. I fully understand how difficult the isolation period is for people when they need to self-isolate. Sadly, as your mum had been identified as a close contact of a visitor, the HPS guidelines are that she needed to be isolated. We always...

Beautifully furnished home in a lovely setting with views of the sea. The rooms are spacious and the facilities are great. Staff very welcoming, friendly and very professional. Very high standard of nursing care. Great choice of menus and excellent quality of meals. My friend could ask for anything and her requests were granted. Very high standard of infection control in these very difficult times.

Reply from Elaine Hughes, Home Manager at Greenan Manor

Thank you for your positive feedback. We are delighted that your friend chose to stay at Greenan Manor and found the standard of care, environment, food, and infection control as being excellent. The staff are very dedicated and work hard to maintain these standards, and I will pass your lovely comments on to them. Thank you for taking the time to complete the review.

Mum moved into Greenan Manor in August 2021. A lovely modern home. Spotlessly clean with fantastic views over Ayr Bay and friendly attentive staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Comfortable rooms and excellent food. A few days after she moved it was mum's birthday and the staff put on a lovely birthday lunch complete with balloons, cake, wine and music. Mum loved it and said it was the best birthday she'd had in a while! As the home is brand new there are only a few residents just now but as word gets out on how good it is I'm sure this will change.

Reply from Elaine Hughes, Home Manager at Greenan Manor

Thank you for your positive feedback. We are delighted that your mum has chosen to stay at Greenan Manor and we look forward to having many more birthday parties for her. As the new Home Manager, I look forward to helping the home grow and meet new residents and their families. I will pass on your lovely comments to the staff.

Delighted with our choice of care home for our aunt. Feels like a 5-star hotel/clean, lovely decor. Staff have been universally lovely, helpful, sensible and a pleasure to deal with. Communication has been good, I feel ‘ kept in the loop’. My aunt seems settled, even although unrealistically, she wants to be in her own home. She is being very well looked after.

The staff are very informative about my mum's condition and if a doctor is required, they will discuss that with us. I find the staff very friendly which reflects the mood of the care home, especially during the Covid pandemic. They are very attentive to my mum's needs and as purpose-built every facility available.

No complaints at all, always made very welcome. The staff are very polite and courteous. Outside the building very attractive, superb location with facilities to sit out in the fresh air and enjoy the view. Gardens in the early stages will look stunning once established. The rooms are very spacious with great toilet and wet room facilities. One criticism the furniture in the bedroom dark and a bit drab.

Reply from Amanda Harland, Home Manager at Greenan Manor

We appreciate your feedback and I have shared comments regarding fitted bedroom furniture with our commissioning team. Staff are very helpful. Telephone facilities are very bad. Telephone cable jack situated on desk - not near bed or chair. Very bad insulation or planning. No part available to connect phone for over 6 weeks, no interest by head office IT in problem. Local staff very helpful. No communal activities organised.

Clean, modern environment. Good food. Caring and helpful staff. Activities - a new home with few residents to date so activities are limited.

Reply from Amanda Harland, Home Manager at Greenan Manor

We greatly appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to respond. The majority of activities have been individualised due to Covid-19 isolation restrictions for new residents, personal choice and as a new Home, gradually increasing admissions of new residents, numbers to engage in group...

Apparently, my mother is being treated well and she loves the room and the facilities. She gets on well with the staff and vice versa. She enjoys the meals and the freedom she is given. Also she likes the view and the ability to sit outside in the warm weather.

With over 26 years of experience in the voluntary care sector, I’ve had the privilege of managing a wide range of services across the UK - from supporting children and young people living with cancer to specialist care for older adults. Each role has shaped my deep belief in delivering not just high-quality care, but care that leads to meaningful outcomes for those we support and their loved ones.

Joining the Greenan Manor family has been an absolute joy. I’ve felt genuinely welcomed by residents, their families, and our incredible team - there’s a real sense of warmth and community here.

I’m passionate about ensuring Greenan Manor continues to be a place where every resident feels valued, supported, and truly at home. Working alongside a dedicated team, my focus is on building upon our existing high standards, always striving to be the very best we can be.

Home for me is Ayr, where I live with my wife, Kelly and our teenage daughter. I'm also a proud dad to two older sons and a very lucky grandad to three beautiful grandchildren.
