Harrington House is situated in the market town of Bourne and offers residential care in a comfortable and friendly environment.

Staff work hard to ensure residents feel at home and are cared for as well as enabling them to maintain their independence as much as possible.

All of the rooms have a nurse call system and residents can bring personal possessions to make their room really feel like their own.

I can't say enough positive things about the team at Chevington House.
My father is looked after in a caring and loving way and is always treated with dignity and respect. The quality of care is second to none.
Over the past year, my father has suffered with Covid-19 and was hospitalized. Without
the staff at Chevington House, I seriously doubt if my father would still be with us.
Reply from Bob, Director at Harrington House

Dear Steve, thank you for your review. It's always a great morale boost for the care team when their efforts and dedication are recognised. We very much appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review.

With care homes opening up for family to visit, I made my appointment. Everything I needed to do was explained thoroughly. I got a pre-test done, had to also have a lateral flow test and full PPE was worn. I couldn't have wished for a better experience in the first meeting with my mum. They made sure
Mum has her hair set, and she looked lovely. I couldn't wish for better carers looking after my mum. Love them all.

My dad had 3 months in this care home and loved it. He found the staff hard working and very caring. Always treated with respect and dignity. He loved the good home-cooked food. He is back in his own home now, but would not hesitate to go back in if his circumstances change.
Reply from Bob Dhaliwal, Director at Harrington House

Thank you for your review, the manager and the team always appreciate the recognition of their hard work and passion in caring for the residents.
We wish your dad all the best now that he is back home, we are always here if you need any further support. Regards, Bob and the Team at Chevington.

Excellent staff. Cheerful, caring, I would be more than happy to recommend. Very sad to hear they are in special measures - super surprised. It's the best care home I've visited, not on looks but 'care'.

The staff at Chevington are extremely caring towards residents. I am confident my grandad is looked after and safe in their care. The property is a little shabby in parts and could benefit from some improvement. The food is always very good and the residents are clean and tidy. The only criticism we
have had is with the office/accounts department. On several occasions, our bills have been miscalculated and costs are higher than some alternative homes in the area. Overall we are very happy with the home.

Chevington House staff are excellent with looking after my mum. She has been here 4 years and could not fault the care she gets. I would not want her to be anywhere else.

Since taking residence here, we have never seen my Mum more at home. She has been here over a year now and she is looked after extremely well. The food is excellent and I feel the worry for myself, my family and my Mum has been taken away by such a well run family orientated home. It is like a 5-star
hotel. If Mum had not been here, it is for certain she would not be here today.

My Godmother has been in Chevington House now for three years. I cannot fault the care she has received over this time. Because of her dementia, she is a very difficult patient but has been treated with dignity and compassion. The staff have been nothing but loving and professional to me and my Godmother.

All the team at Chevington House have been fantastic regarding the care of my mother who has been recently diagnosed with mixed dementia. My mother has had a complex case after falling ill with UTI over Christmas which re-surfaced in January - care has been fantastic, team are caring and responsive
to my mother's needs. I will be looking to place my mother as her illness deteriorates in the future.
Reply from BOB DHALIWAL, Director at Harrington House

Dear Helen,

Your review on Chevington House and the care provided through the Transitional Care Placement to your mother is most welcome, Karen and the staff will be most pleased on your kind words, and it is reassuring for us to know that the quality of care is responsive to your mothers needs.

Sincerely,

Bob.

I was received by friendly staff. The attention given to me was excellent. My requirements were met 100% and I had everything I requested. The social side is paramount and even gave a special evening (re Christmas) and excellent buffet.
The staff were very comfortable to be with male/female. I can
assure anyone their needs would be fully met.

My parents have been living at Chevington House for six months. I’ve always found the staff to be extremely caring and attentive.
My Father has always been fussy about his food but even he says that the standard of catering is very good and having eaten with them I would concur with that view.
This
may not be the most visually appealing home but I consider that my parents are well cared for, clean, warm and safe which is what matters.

Can see the change in family member since becoming a resident here. This is a very friendly home the carers we cannot fault at all, they are all very approachable, friendly and caring towards residents also visiting family. Great atmosphere warm and welcoming every time.
My relative has never been
so happy and has gained weight to what she was on arrival and she is happy and contented which makes us happy to leave her and not worry about her. Any problems we are contacted.

Overall both the establishment and staff are amazing. My nan never wanted to go into a care home and since she has been there, she has become my nan that I remember. Bubbly, witty, great sense of humour. This is because the staff and other residents have made her feel welcome and all part of a large
family. Thank you Chevington for all you do.

My grandmother was a resident of Chevington House for just over 2 years, during this time the staff were very good with her and provided an excellent standard of care. The staff at Chevington work very hard to ensure the residents have their needs met and that care is at all times dignified. They not
only support the resident but their family members as well, listening to any concerns and acting on them when requested. This was especially true when she started a gradual decline in health which resulted in her peaceful death in her own bed in Chevington being cared for by those who knew her. The staff were amazing as they recognised that she was coming to the natural end of her life and had addressed all of hers and the families wishes. We will always be grateful that she could be cared for here rather than being sent elsewhere for her care.
Reply from Bob Dhaliwal, Director at Harrington House

We are glad to have provided a level of service to both your mum and your family which you have appreciated and recognised. I know we have a special team at Chevington, but it always goes a long way when the residents and family tell us how we have done. I am positive that your comments will be a huge morale booster for them.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.402)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.402) out of 10 for Harrington House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.827 for Harrington House is calculated as follows: ( (70 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 81 Ratings = 4.827
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.575 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Harrington House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.875
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
