My mum recently had a fall in the home and I was informed straight away, an ambulance was called which I met at the hospital. Exceptional care. When mum was back in the home the care being received again is exceptional. All the staff are friendly and amazing. Without the care and friendliness from Ivy
Court and my family would be lost. They are all amazing people and I want to say well done to everyone, you are appreciated so much by myself and the family. Thank you to you all for all that you do.

My mum moved into Ivy Court in August 2024. Two years later, she still loved the place. The workers do treat the patients very well. The food is very nice. My mum says and looks it. The cleaners do a good job, always very clean place. The staff who do the washing also do a very good job. The patients
all enjoy their trips out. The patients love it when they have entertainment. They love bingo, love baking, and arts and crafts games. What more can I say? Staff are very fair.

I visit my friend 3 times a week. She is very happy at Ivy Court. The staff genuinely care about her and make sure she is well looked after. All the staff are very kind and patient, and always hard-working. My friend's room is kept nice and clean. If I ever have to have anything fixed its always done
straight away by the home's caretaker.

Both my parents died in Ivy Court last year. The carers were excellent and treated them with genuine care and dignity. I cannot fault the frontline staff at all.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for management. A valuable ring belonging to my mum was removed and lost. She had three rings; two
were later found, one was not. At that point Mum was immobile and barely responsive, so she did not remove or lose it herself.
I raised this immediately and was fobbed off until I made it formal. The manager did not speak to me properly, got my name wrong, and referred to a policy we were never shown or given, despite me stating this several times. It was then used in her final response to my complaint. Referring to unissued policies is not a defence, and would not stand up to scrutiny, had there actually been any.
Losing Mum was hard enough. Knowing someone now has her ring, and that management showed no accountability or care, made it far worse.
Reply from Stacey Dean Dean, Manager at Ivy CourtThank you for your review, we agree that we have a fantastic team here at Ivy Court who go above and beyond to care for our residents. I can't comment further on the concerns you have raised here but I am saddened that you feel this way. I wish you all the best in the future.

Ivy Court Staff strive to provide high quality care to residents, catering to a wide range of elderly peoples' needs. They demonstrate endless patience and compassion when dealing with residents and their families alike. Standards of care are continually assessed and over the past two years we have
witnessed positive improvements in standards under the current Care Home Manager's tenure. This is especially significant to us as we felt our Loved One's start at the home was extremely shaky. We now feel much more reassured with the level of professionalism and care expertise being provided.

My mum has been a resident here for over a year now. I can't thank Stacey and all her team enough nothing is ever a problem. Room lovely, clean, food great too. It was such a difficult decision to have mum go into full time care but having such great respite care made it so much easier.

We needed to find somewhere for mum as her health was failing. Stacey and her team were immediately available to show me around and help me through the initial process.
At a really difficult time I felt that the care and compassion shown to mum and dad was excellent.
The care home is always clean
and staff are visible and actively engaging with residents. They bring a little of the outside world into the home too with decorations and events for Halloween, Remembrance Day and Children in Need. To see mum settling is amazing. Thank you all so much.

I've come to live at Ivy Court on a short placement while they find me a bungalow, and I cannot praise the staff enough. My room is clean and tidy, the home is well presented and is not just a standard care home, it's more like a hotel. The food is cooked from traditional meals and is plenty to go round.

Such a lovely bright building with gorgeous rooms and facilities. So many opportunities for activities and even outings. Fantastic that there are regular visits from a hairdresser, chiropodist and optician. Best of all though, the carers are so lovely, kind and cheerful. Nothing is too much trouble
and everything is done cheerfully even after a hard tiring day. The manager and deputy manager welcome conversations and are always happy to listen and do whatever they can to help.

My dad moved into Ivy Court in January 2024 after a lengthy stay in hospital and a number of falls. He had a ground floor room with doors out onto the garden. Everyone has gone over and above to ensure he was comfortable and looked after. He really enjoyed the food and joined in with all the activities
and had trips out to garden centres and museums and shows at Cast over the last year and a trip to Whitby and an early Christmas dinner. The activities team do a great job at keeping everyone entertained. My dad maintained his independence and I know he enjoyed his time there. Sadly my dad past away on the 14th December. We have some lovely photos from last year and know he did a lot more than he would have if he had been at home. Thank you Ivy Court. You are all amazing. Keep up the good work.

My auntie is a resident at Ivy Court and it has been a great move for her. She feels safe there. She is looked after. Meals prepared, warm room, always very clean. The bonus has been the additional care items. She loves the walks and outings she is taken on, for coffee and scones, and the entertainment
they sometimes being in. The staff are friendly and chat to her and the Christmas Dinner was everything you would expect it to be - with crackers!

My father had been at Ivy Court since October. He was not settling in his wing and the staff kindly suggested moving him downstairs to see if he was any happier. I cannot believe the difference in him, he is smiling, content and happy. All staff are friendly, conscientious and very caring towards the
residents. Rooms are first class, well decorated and kept clean and tidy. Food and drink is very good and both residents and visitors are welcomed very warmly and we are kept informed of my father's welfare. The home is well run by a lovely manager who is always happy to stop and chat although she has a very busy life! Care staff are nominated regularly for above and beyond and seem to be well thought of. We know that my father is looked after, well fed, safe and secure and that is all we could wish for.

Always a warm welcome on reception. Care team leaders were exceptional, always there when needed and very kind and caring. All staff were excellent, cared very well for all my mum's needs. Bent over backwards to do all they could. My only criticism is that there are just not enough of them. They are
spread too thinly. The only have one pair of hands! There needs to be more of them on each shift.

My mum (who has Alzheimer's), has been at Ivy Court since 1st March, for respite, after being unable to return home, after being discharged from hospital. I have found the home to be a lovely clean, and spacious place. She has a lovely room, with a large wet room bathroom, and her own TV, which she
enjoys (as mum spends a lot of time in her room - due to the fact that she is very unsteady on her feet. She has had a couple of falls whilst being here, which have been dealt with quickly and efficiently - and now has an alarmed pressure pad near her chair, safety sides on her bed, and is checked regularly.
Mum seems happy and settled, loves the home-cooked style food, and everyone who looks after her.
The manager at Ivy Court is relatively new and appears to be doing a fabulous job here. Right from the start she's been approachable, honest, friendly and a very genuine person. We have also found everyone working there, to be very friendly and welcoming.

My dad was admitted to Ivy Court on 18th March 2024. A few days later on visiting him, he mentioned to us that his top set of false teeth had gone missing! As soon as we heard this we mentioned it to the care home staff who were on duty at that time, who at first made it a bit of a joke! It was the
same day that I requested a toilet seat riser be put on his toilet, so the maintenance man also witnessed this.
His teeth have still not been found! My dad has since told us that obviously he is struggling to eat, and he has mentioned that sometimes when it comes to his breakfast, the porridge has run out, which he can eat, but then he has to try eating toast or cornflakes! My dad is already underweight, and we, the family, feel he is now not eating properly due to this problem. We have mentioned this a fair few times now, but are not sure what to do next. We are fairly pleased with his care overall, but it's quite early days on his progress, and we find the care staff kind and helpful.
Reply from Stacey Dean, Manager at Ivy CourtThank you for the feedback Alison. I have had a discussion with your brother around dad's weight and teeth and I assumed he would relay this information back to you. By all means, if you would like to speak with me also I can also relay the same information to you as I did your brother.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.520)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.520) out of 10 for Ivy Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.520 for Ivy Court is calculated as follows: ( (208 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (19 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 277 Ratings = 4.52
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ivy Court is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
